Rep. Schakowsky (D) has introduced a bill, the WORK Act, Woman's Option to Raise Kids, giving federal assistance that would supplement TANF benefits (for the first 3 years), because under current law a woman (poor or not) raising kids does not have her work raising kids counted as real "work." Dems are attempting to use Ann Romney's words against her. Ann Romney said that staying home and raising kids is "work." and Dems are countering that by saying that it shouldn't be just people like Ann Romney that should get to stay home and "work." Schakowsky believes that poor women...

I buried this item at the bottom of my early morning post on Romney's rhetoric, but I think this staggering milestone merits a separate post. The Obama legacy: In the 39 months since Barack Obama took the oath of office as president of the United States, the federal government’s debt has increased by $5,027,761,476,484.56. Although he has served less than a term, Obama is now the first American president to see the federal government's debt increase by more than $5 trillion during his time in office. During the full eight years that George W. Bush served as president, the...

Brown: Is Progressivism the new Communism? In politics, truth-telling can get you into trouble, even if you stumble upon it by accident. Just ask Rep. Allen West (R-FL). West is feeling the heat for a pregnant pause he took during a town hall meeting after he was asked "What percentage of the American legislature do you think are card-carrying Marxists or International Socialists?" "It's a good question," West responded, "I believe there's [sic] about 78 to 81 members of the Democrat Party who are members of the Communist Party. (Long pause) "They don't actually hide. It's called the Congressional Progressive...

This was posted on one of GaryNorth.com forums. The battle for America’s political soul is always fought on the battlefield of federal politics. That’s why conservatives lose, generation after generation.” Dr. North, would you please elaborate on this, why you believe the battle for America’s political soul is fought in Federal politics and why it is that conservatives continue to lose, generation after generation? From the time of the ratification of the United States Constitution, American politics shifted to the national level. One of the things that I realized late in my career, even though I had been trained as...

President Barack Obama's campaign on Wednesday launched an aggressive national effort to energize and rally Latino voters who could help him carry key states like Colorado, Florida or Nevada and hand him a second term. "This election is an opportunity for the Latino community in this country to send a message" by helping "someone who stands on our side," Democratic Senator Robert Menendez told reporters on a conference call to unveil "Latinos for Obama." "It's no secret that Latinos will be a deciding factor in this election," Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said on the same call. The campaign also...

The president and his allies are wooing various groups of angry and disaffected minorities. These, along with unhappy entitlement dependents, are to constitute most of the voters Obama seeks to lure into granting him another term, during which he hopes to complete his promise to "fundamentally transform" America. In an ironic reversal of the emphases of Madison's Federalist Paper #10, in which that great thinker carefully outlined the dangers of factionalism and pressed for the need for stability of the Republic of the United States, Obama and his supporters are seeking to achieve electoral hegemony by playing to minorities and...

Excerpt: "Now on Sunday night Romney was here in Palm Beach for a big fundraiser. Word has leaked out about some of the things that he said to the donors. These are things that he's not said publicly in terms of specifics on policy, and one of the things that he talked about was a tax plan. He wants to lower rates but eliminate some deductions for the rich. And I have to tell you, folks, I'm not comfortable with the Republican nominee talking about special plans for "the rich," special plans for "Hispanics." That was part of it, too....

Conservatives laugh at sheep and useful idiots. We laughed at Democrats when their "Anybody but Bush" got them Kerry. They thought that "Anybody but" works. It doesn't. The electorate needs something to vote FOR and not against. It's called "inspiration" and "something to believe in". Fear is not a belief. It is an unbridled emotion that clouds judgment and has been on full display lately. Romney is not yet the nominee but some believe it is a done deal. The controllers, the RNC and the MSM, want you to believe that. It flies in the face of everything we know....

Ever wonder what it takes to sanitize a Daily Kos post of all the snark and pompous windbaggery? White House Opens Door to Big Donors, and Lobbyists Slip In MIKE McINTIRE and MICHAEL LUO April 14, 2012 Last May, as a battle was heating up between Internet companies and Hollywood over how to stop online piracy, a top entertainment industry lobbyist landed a meeting at the White House with one of President Obamas technology advisers. Bishop Daniel Jenky of Peoria told the 500 men who attended the dioceses annual mens march and Mass that the days in which we live now require heroic Catholicism, not casual Catholicism. We can no longer be Catholics by accident, but instead [must] be Catholics by conviction. In our own families, in our parishes, where we live and where we work--like that very first apostolic generation--we must be bold witnesses to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, he preached. We must be a fearless army of Catholic men, ready to give everything we have for the Lord, who gave everything for...

TRUE COLORS TIME If you listened closely to Sarah tonight on Levins program, she was pretty much endorsing Romney. I suspect she will hold her cards, wont jump into the fray until the convention, where she will get maximum exposure for her particular agenda. And then she will play the good citizen role and support Romney. Ive been worried about her since she showed up so ungraciously during the summer to rain on the parade of some of the more conservative candidates The same applies to her as everyone else... Not fighting, not helping Newt right now, is the same...

(Fox News) - PHOENIX -- Mitt Romney will address the Republican National Committee meeting of state party chairmen this Friday in Phoenix, where he will stake his claim to the GOP nomination and call upon party leaders to unite, FOX News Channel reported. The meeting will be attended by more than 40 of the RNC's 50 state GOP chairmen, along with 200 additional officials, activists and political professionals as they gear up for the fall campaign to oust President Barack Obama. MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Unions are facing a make-or-break moment in their campaign to drive Wisconsin's Republican governor from office. "After devoting so much effort, energy and funds to the recall, unions have to show positive results or it will be judged to be a sign of a weakened labor movement," said Gary Chaison, professor at Clark University. The recall primary in Wisconsin is May 8, and the general election is June 5. Such massive, costly campaigns have taken a toll on unions, diverting resources they could have spent helping political allies or organizing new members. "Unions are not bottomless...

Mitt Romney, it turns out, was against calling stay-at-home mothers working moms before he was for it. MSNBCs Chris Hayes broke the news this morning. Back in January, Romney appeared at a town hall even in Manchester, New Hampshire, where he explained his position on welfare. While I was governor, Romney said, 85 percent of the people on a form of welfare assistance in my state had no work requirement. I wanted to increase the work requirement. I said, for instance, that even if you have a child two years of age, you need to go to work. And people...

Mitt Romney, who has called government-funded programs that offer assistance to illegal immigrants magnets that draw more illegal immigrants to the country, allowed a health-care program that helps illegal immigrations to be included in the final version of his health-care program that he signed. From the Los Angeles Times: The Massachusetts healthcare law that then-Gov. Mitt Romney signed in 2006 includes a program known as the Health Safety Net, which allows undocumented immigrants to get needed medical care along with others who lack insurance. Uninsured, poor immigrants can walk into a health clinic or hospital in the state and get...

The Democrats have found their kind of war. It's the "war against women" they have conjured for the Obama Presidential campaign run. Should be fun, but don't look for any of the combatants to speak for the realities of today's women. Still, there's an opportunity here for Mitt Romney, if he'll seize it. The White House has wasted little time capitalizing on Mr. Romney's perceived weakness among women. Polls show the President with a 20-point advantage over the Republican with women voters. Team Obama is hoping to use the recent fight over mandated insurance coverage for contraception to broaden the...

In the end, free societies get the governments they deserve. So, if the American people wish to choose their chief executive on the basis of the "war on women," the Republican theocrats' confiscation of your contraceptives or whatever other mangy and emaciated rabbit the Great Magician produces from his threadbare topper, they are free to do so, and they will live with the consequences. This week's bit of ham-handed misdirection was "the Buffett Rule," a not-so-disguised capital-gains tax hike designed to ensure that Warren Buffett pays as much tax as his secretary. If the alleged Sage of Omaha is as...

A reminder for those who are not receiving the message: Romney is a pathological compulsive liar. Lie after lie papered over with more lies. Doesnt even flinch when caught in bald faced lies, simply tells another big whopper to cover up or dodge the issue. Funny thing, the man actually seems to believe his own latest lies and simply ignores the glaring record of his past actions/lies. And you have true blue establishment elite RINO Republicans like Karl Rove enabling and backing up his lies. Their motivation is simply to hang on to power (and riches) any way they can....

This video was created for instruct members of NumbersUSA to help get a bill passed (E-Verify), but I can picture a more perfect lesson in civics for any grass-roots conservative movement. http://numbersusa.tv/ The bill being discussed would mandate E-Verify, a program which helps business detect identity fraud by illegal aliens, so that immigration laws can be enforced. NumbersUSA is *not* a conservative organization, per se; like the NRA, they focus on a single issue, which happens to be very popular among conservatives. Vast majorities of all Americans support NumbersUSA's goal of reducing illegal immigration (and certain types of "legal" immigration,...

The leader of the Tea Party Nation organization has a blunt message for likely Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney: Tea partiers will likely vote for you, but dont expect them to get energized and campaign for you.The tea party is not going to coalesce around Romney, Judson Phillips told The Daily Caller on Thursday. We seem to have reached the end of the United States of America, folks. At least that is what the Obama syndicate wants us to believe. The time to panic has come and gone and now the great and planned wasteland of what was once our country has already begun its implementation. Will we ever stop it? From a recent Obama courts ruling that passengers have no more rights not to be sexually molested by TSA employees through the US Treasury being summarily routed by Obama, Geithner and the rest of the Obama syndicates hordes, the US Constitutions Bill of...

Episode 141 Of Crap Sandwiches and Grand Bargains What I need ... is a Republican Party that understands that its only useful when it is a brightly-contrasting counterpoint to the big-government, overspending, totalitarian-leaning Democratic Party. Im not going to get that this election, so Ive offered the GOP a deal. Call it a compromise, if you like because compromise sounds so much nicer than one last chance for them to redeem themselves. The show got a bit ranty, especially in the second half, but it needed to be that way. These days, the only way to get the attention...

What if the government never took the Constitution seriously? What if the same generation -- in some cases the same human beings -- that wrote in the First Amendment, "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech," also enacted the Alien and Sedition Acts, which made it a crime to criticize the government? What if the feds don't regard the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land? What if the government regards the Constitution as merely a guideline to be referred to from time to time, or a myth to be foisted upon the voters,...

As noted on another thread, political pundits often compare presidential elections to previous ones. In the case of Romney vs. Obama, conservatives should look north to the Dominion of Celine Dion and Maple Syrup. This is a repeat of John Tory vs. Dalton McGuinty, the 2007 election in Ontario during which the two candidates contested governance of Canada's largest province. The only difference, other than citizenship, is that John Tory was not Mormon. He was a nominal Protestant, for the most part indistinguishable from the Kennedy Catholic he was challenging. Nevertheless, religion would cost him the election. As Ontario Liberal...

The Obama administration is quietly diverting roughly $500 million to the IRS to help implement the presidents healthcare law. The money is only part of the IRSs total implementation spending, and it is being provided outside the normal appropriations process. The tax agency is responsible for several key provisions of the new law, including the unpopular individual mandate. Republican lawmakers have tried to cut off funding to implement the healthcare law, at least until after the Supreme Court decides whether to strike it down. That ruling is expected by June, and oral arguments last week indicated the justices might well...

The news came today, about 1:00 PM Central Time, that Rick Santorum is suspending his bid for the Republican nomination for President. (The reader should be reminded of the health issues of the Santorums daughter Bella, and is urged to remember the family in prayer.) Reaction was mixed. At last, some said, we have all the deadwood and pretenders cleared out of the way (Newt and Ron Paul are too insignificant to matter, right?) and we can rally around the sensible choice. Go Romney! Others reached for the Hemlock: Oh, no, the last good Christian man standing is gone! We...

Jim Rob Is Right - But Conservatives Here Have TWO Job2 To Do!

First - blow off that feeling that we're going to lose, or already have lost! No, we're going to WIN.

First item of business, get invovlved in the Tea Party movement, and give D.C. a whole new influx of conservatives in Congress similar in size and importance to that of the last election - thereby blocking any of Obamas chances of having Congressional support for his machinations. Note too, the Tea Party used the GOP vehicle, not a third party. Reason, third parties are losers, because they don't have the national organization and presence large enough to compete.

With Santorum suspending his campaign and reality staring us in the face... With the voters of the remaining primaries given fewer choices.... With Newt not able to gain traction (sadly).... What is left for us? Sitting home is not an option for me. Perhaps if FReepers nation-wide were to contact and pester the slate of delegates in their respective states to break away from their "commitment" and deny Romney a first ballot victory. Of course, the remaining states could still vote for Newt or Ron Paul and deny Romney the magic number. But barring that, the only alternative I see...

I was surprised to see President George W. Bush enter the political foray Tuesday - defending his tax cuts in general at least - so quickly after Ryan/Romney have teamed up to promote the Ryan plan. As I have said, President Bush would become an issue in this election, and Romney would either embrace/endorse Bush or would toss Bush/Bush's policies/Bush-style tax cuts/or quasi-Bush-style tax cuts under the bus. Remember Romney saying that he was an "independent" under Reagan/Bush Sr? He can't be squeamish this time around. With Ryan and Romney recently teaming up together to promote tax cuts, and Bush...

Heres another of those quiet, subtle, but very dangerous little stories that has somehow slipped past all the mainstream media outlets. The United States of America has a brand new private VOTE COUNTING company that the Obama administration has personally handpicked. The company is called Scytl and it is based in Michelle Obamas most favorite vacation spot, Barcelona, Spain. Forget the fact that Barack is once again providing jobs for people in another country; there are much bigger fish to fry in this story.

The basic reason Romney should be opposed by conservatives is that Romney is not a conservative. More specifically, Romney is the author of the $50 abortion, the originator of the gay marriage license, and the founder of big government-forced health care. Those 3 are a mix of social and fiscal issues. The conclusion is that Romney is neither a fiscal conservative nor a social conservative. His tenure as governor of Massachusetts proves that point. Now, as Romney is touted as the “etch-a-sketch” candidate who will shortly begin his tack to the left, principled conservatives will do well to begin listing...
