Tuesday, Mobile, AL FOX affiliate WALA unveiled the latest FOX10 News/Strategy Research poll on the December 12 special election for U.S. Senate between Republican former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore and Democrat former Clinton U.S. Attorney Doug Jones. The poll surveyed 3,000 likely voters and was taken on November 13, days after a Washington Post report was published that accused Moore of engaging in inappropriate conduct with four teenage girls more than 34 years ago. The poll gives Moore a six-point advantage over shows Jones by a 49-to-43 percent margin with 8 percent undecided.

Even prior to when President Donald Trump took office, his team was busy planning what the future of the Senate Judiciary Committee would look like. Leading the reshaping the of the Judiciary committee was Donald McGahan II, who was later given the role of White House counsel. His goal has been to appoint young and conservative-leaning appellate judges.   “Mr. McGahn, instructed by Mr. Trump to maximize the opportunity to reshape the judiciary, mapped out potential nominees and a strategy, according to two people familiar with the effort: Start by filling vacancies on appeals courts with multiple openings and where...
  • Votes in 18 nations 'hacked' in last year

Elections in 18 separate nations were influenced by online disinformation campaigns last year, suggests research. Independent watchdog Freedom House looked at how online discourse was influenced by governments, bots and paid opinion formers. In total, 30 governments were actively engaged in using social media to stifle dissent, said the report. Educating users to spot fake news and making tech firms police their networks could combat the manipulation, it said. The different tactics used to influence online speech included: * automated bots that echoed official messages * armies of paid commentators that swamped discussions with pro-government views * false news sites...
  • Still waiting on Mitch McConnell to call for Robert Menendez to resign

    11/14/2017 2:16:15 AM PST · by cotton1706 · 22 replies
You know it’s funny. You have a corrupt Democrat Senator Robert Menendez on trial for bribery, conspiracy and other charges. The media basically ignores the story, Democrats refuse to answer if what should happen to Menendez when rarely questioned and Mitch McConnell is as silent as can be. Robert Menendez has even been accused of having sex with underage hookers in Dominican Republic in this case. So where are all the calls for him to resign, proven or not? And then there’s the Roy Moore, the Alabama Senate candidate who now has Gloria Allred joining the pile on of women...

Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks is standing by GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore, arguing that the Senate needs Moore’s vote. “There are major issues facing the United States of America — deficit and debt that can lead to insolvency and bankruptcy, funding for national security, border security, abortion, appointment of Supreme Court justices. Doug Jones will vote wrong on each of those issues,” Brooks said Monday night after House votes. “Roy Moore will vote right; that’s why I’m voting for Roy Moore.”
  • Trump Prepared To Expel Special Interest From Judicial Confirmation Process

The White House may soon advise President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees not to cooperate with the American Bar Association’s independent vetting process, further weakening the dominant role the interest group has played for decades in judicial confirmations. A source involved in the administration’s confirmation operation told The New York Times that the White House may instruct future judicial nominees not to interview with the ABA’s standing committee on the federal judiciary, or give the panel access to confidential disciplinary records. Though the practice is not formally part of the confirmation process, the ABA has vetted federal judicial nominees since the...

Roy Moore spoke to reporters in front of a crowd of supporters and denied the allegations against him. In his press conference, Moore denied his fifth accuser's allegations saying, "I don't even know the woman." On Monday, Beverly Young-Nelson accused Moore of sexually assaulting her when she was 16-years-old. Young-Nelson told reporters that she would be willing to testify under oath.

Kayla Moore, wife of Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, shared a letter on Facebook over the weekend indicating support from more than 50 Alabama pastors. Not all the pastors said they gave permission for their name to be be used, however. Moore's wife Kayla posted the letter to her Facebook page Sunday after days of controversy surrounding her husband and allegations he had sexual contact with a 14-year-old in 1979 when he was 32-years-old. Three other women said Moore pursued them as teenagers. The letter was posted before a fifth woman, Beverly Young Nelson, came forward with additional charges Monday....

Right-wing radio host Wayne Allyn Root delivered a furious rant in defense of Roy Moore on his radio program after reports surfaced that Moore had pursued sexual relationships with teenage girls when he was in his 30s, demanding to know why the press never investigated reports that both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama had gay relationships. “They’re scumbags,” Root said of Moore’s critics, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, whom Root insisted is “evil” and “looks like he died 20 years ago.” Root said that based on the photos he has seen of the women who have accused Moore of...

"Gloria Allred is a sensationalist leading a witch hunt, and she is only around to create a spectacle,” Moore’s campaign said in a statement Monday, calling out the accuser's lawyer by name. “Allred was the attorney who claims credit for giving us Roe v. Roy Moore's penchant for flirting with teen girls was "common knowledge" and "not a big secret" around Gadsden, according to some area residents. The Senate candidate has denied any wrongdoing in the wake of a report from The Washington Post in which four women accused Moore of inappropriate advances - and in one instance, a sexual encounter - toward them when they were teens and he was in his early 30s. One of the four women claims she was 14 at the time, making her the only one whose claim would represent a legal violation. Moore has said he never...
  • Hey Self-Righteous Democrats & Republicans, Why Aren’t You Demanding Senator Menendez Step Aside?

    11/13/2017 3:46:35 PM PST · by cotton1706 · 8 replies
The ongoing saga surrounding Judge Roy Moore’s candidacy as Senator from Alabama continues to cause pain and strife in the GOP. Tensions are high because the establishment GOP (who were already against Moore’s candidacy) have been the loudest calling for him to resign. Meanwhile, the average voter in Alabama is stuck with continuing to support a man who may be a sexual predator or voting for a radical pro-abortion leftist. I’m not going to rehash the debate over whether or not Moore is innocent  – only to say that there has been no proof presented and Moore vehemently denies the charges. My...

Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) refused to “get into the hypotheticals,” when asked if he would vote to expel Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) if he is convicted at his federal corruption trial. Durbin said, “I’m not going to get into the hypotheticals on either of these situations. As I said, several steps removed. I’m hopeful that when all is said and done that Bob Menendez will be returning to the Senate representing the state of New Jersey.

In an outcome that could only be called a dramatic upset, Republicans in Pennsylvania’s 18th District selected on Saturday a conservative outsider and early Trump supporter as their nominee to replace former Rep. Tim Murphy, R-PA, in the special election March 13. Since Republican hopeful Rick Saccone’s proud self-characterization is “a Trump Republican before Trump,” the stage is set for a much-watched contest that the national press and the Democrats are sure to bill as a referendum on the Trump presidency. In an exclusive interview with Newsmax shortly after securing the nomination, four-term, State Rep. Rick Saccone spelled out how...

I wanted to follow-up my article from Friday morning about the allegations about former Roy Moore, the former Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and Republican nominee in Alabama's U.S. Senate race.At the end of my piece I wrote: This situation, looking at how Moore responded, leaves us ultimately with two possible conclusions. Either Moore is lying or the women and The Washington Post (by extension) are lying. In a nutshell, Christians should strive for truth. We should desire and pray for the truth to come out wherever it leads. If the accusations are true, Christian voters in Alabama should hold Moore...

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) said on Friday that if the allegations against Alabama candidate for U.S. Senate Roy Moore are true, he should step aside, and “should be dealt with severely.” But Graham not only hasn’t called for Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez (N.J.), accused of having sex with underage prostitutes, to step aside — he also went to New Jersey on his own dime two weeks ago to testify as a character witness in Menendez’s corruption trial, telling the judge that Menendez is “very honest” and “honorable.”

For the fourth time since January, one of President Trump’s nominees for a Federal Judgeship has received the extremely rare “not qualified” rating from the American Bar Association, and this time it’s a man who has never tried a case in a Federal or State Court in what amounts to a very short, limited career: A 36-year-old lawyer who has never tried a case and who was unanimously deemed “not qualified” by the American Bar Association has been approved for a lifetime federal district judgeship by the Senate Judiciary Committee. The lawyer, Brett Talley, is the fourth judicial nominee under...
  • Growing List of Republicans Saying Goodbye to Washington (Boehner/Ryan yes men)

WASHINGTON — A growing number of House Republicans are choosing to voluntarily drain the swamp one year ahead of the the midterm elections. Nearly two dozen congressional Republicans have so far announced they will not be running for re-election, leaving Democrats enthusiastic about the potential for major gains in the 2018 elections. Nine Republicans are running for a different elected position, while 12 are retiring. And while Congressional retirements are common (on average, 22 House members retire each cycle, according to a CQ Roll Call analysis), the numbers so far are glaringly one-sided. Just two Democratic House members have announced...

Recently, U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore was accused of dating before he was married. How is this a crime? The females were 14 to 18 years old, and he was 32. Also, he got to "second base" with the 14 year old. Technically, no crime was committed, but people regard his behavior as inappropriate. In 2017, the combination of ages is considered wrong. Was it always wrong? Let us look at some history about appropriate ages. In modern times, there have been many May-December marriages. Some examples come from President Trump. He married Ivana when he was 31 and she...
