No, the Russians did not decide the election, but their attempt to influence it merits serious attention from all parties. Of course Donald Trump thinks it’s “ridiculous” to claim the Russians rigged the election for him. Even if Vladimir Putin confessed to the crime on Russia Today, Trump would not believe it, because to do so is not in his nature. I do not want to shock the reader, but Trump has a very high opinion of himself and a tendency to reject evidence that contradicts that opinion, combined with an eagerness to find corroboration of his self-regard wherever possible....

Herewith some unsolicited free advice for the Democratic Party. Whether it's worth more than the price I leave up to Democrats to decide. The first thing to remember is that the Democratic Party is the oldest political party in the world. It's had its ups and downs over many years. Under any fair reading of history, it has done many good things for this country and the world. It is not going away any time soon. But it is in a bad way. Its chances of recapturing the presidency in 2020 depend largely on decisions by Republicans and on events...

A group of ten electors to the Electoral College wrote a letter to the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, requesting full intelligence briefing on any alleged ties between President-elect Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. This effort is receiving a great deal of attention in the political world, especially among those who are hoping it may finally be the way to stop Trump from taking the White House in January. Legal experts tell LawNewz.com it will be tough for the electors to get what they are seeking. However, there is a way that it could possibly happen, but...

Donald Trump has won the recount in Wisconsin, officials announced on Monday, certifying the president-elect as the 2016 victor in the Badger State. The recount, spearheaded by Green Party candidate Jill Stein, called into question Trump's narrow victory in the state, but the resulting recount found few errors. Shortly before the state's Elections Commission certified the recount results on Monday, the state had overturned just 25 votes, the The Washington Post reports. Trump still leads Clinton by approximately 22,000 votes in the state. Pennsylvania officials also certified Trump's victory on Monday—the state, however, had rejected Stein’s request for a recount.

Democratic strategist Joe Trippi had an interesting insight into a problem currently faced by Democrats as they seek to rebuild their brand and win future elections. Because the election was so close, with Trump winning three swing states by a total of about 80,000 votes, it’s impossible to sort out which factors really mattered in Clinton’s loss.As Trippi points out, Democrats can point to almost any explanation, from Russian hacking to Bernie Sanders to explain the 2016 loss, which means different factions of the party have very different views about what to do next. BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Now, about this recount. Some stuff to add to this today, but one thing I want to mention before moving on here to something else just to get this out there. I have long suspected that Jill Stein's not actually responsible for this recount, that she is a stand-in, that she is the public face of this. I actually think this is all Hillary Clinton. I think this recount that everybody thinks is Jill Stein's and the Green Party's is all Hillary Clinton. Now, there's a story here from a website called LawNewz, N-e-w-z, and it is...

Note: Post contains sensitive content regarding suicide. I found out Donald Trump had won the Electoral College while midstream in providing a urine sample for the emergency psychiatric staff of a New York City public hospital. The unlockable bathroom door in this unescapable wing was ajar, and I could hear the victorious Mike Pence’s sinister Sunday-school baritone taunting me with the truth from the hallway television. For the preceding witching hours of election night, I had lain in a fetal position amidst a cast of anonymous men nursing their own crises, my hands clasped tightly over my ears. It wasn’t...

Voting by illegal immigrants is easy to do and is being done in the United States, a former ICE agent explained on "The O'Reilly Factor." ... In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally . - Trump. ... To assess the claim, O'Reilly talked to retired ICE Special-Agent-In-Charge Claude Arnold, who said he "routinely" arrested illegal immigrants who had voter registrations. "I worked in six locations across the United States. I probably arrested more than 1,000 illegal aliens in my career and I...

On Election Night 2016, I found myself at BuzzFeed’s offices in New York City. They had embarked on a bold live streaming show with the aim of mocking traditional network coverage and providing a fun, straight-to-the-point program of returns, tweets, and Millennial-centric fare. Behind the scenes, this meant practice runs of the night. Our first trial rehearsal involved a scenario many at the time thought unlikely, if not impossible: a Trump win. And the trial we ran, in fact, turned out to be closer to the reality of the night than any publicized election whiz’s projection. His victory wasn’t out...

Hillary Clinton would have won in a landslide if only young people had voted, President Obama said in an interview with Rolling Stone published Tuesday. "If you look at the data from the election, if it were just young people who were voting, Hillary would have gotten 500 electoral votes," Obama told the Rolling Stone. "So we have helped, I think, shape a generation to think about being inclusive, being fair, caring about the environment." Young Americans, he said, "will have growing influence year by year, which means that America over time will continue to get better."

It took three weeks to confirm it, thanks to California’s excruciatingly slow ballot counts, but Darrell Issa will return to Congress in January. Democrats had targeted his seat in order to push out one of the most conservative Republicans in the House, and to send a message to Barack Obama’s critics. Instead, Issa managed to eke out a narrow win over Doug Applegate in the toughest race of his career.Note, though, the way the Associated Press leads this story as it calls the race for Issa: The wealthiest member of Congress is keeping his job.Republican Darrell Issa narrowly defeated...

I don't know if this means anything in light of the PA State Department's announcement that Stein missed the deadline. But this Fox29 Philly tweet was posted to twitter at 1:33pm today. Can anybody who's knowledgeable explain what this means, if it means anything?
