    Wall Street Journal ^ | May 11, 2016 | Rebecca Ballhaus
Oil billionaire T. Boone Pickens, who on Wednesday endorsed presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump, is planning to host a fundraising event for the pro-Trump super PAC next month, the first major effort by the super PAC to raise money. Mr. Pickens, chairman of the hedge fund BP Capital, has invited Ed Rollins, the co-chairman of the super PAC, to visit his Texas ranch in mid-June, along with a few other fundraising officials from the group. The goal is both to raise money for the super PAC and to bolster party unity, a spokesman for Mr. Pickens said.

UPDATE——– #NEVERTRUMPER GOT THUMPED— NEBRASKA REPUBLICANS PASS RESOLUTION TO REPRIMAND #NEVERTRUMPER BEN SASSE.. The Nebraska Republican State Convention is underway today in Omaha, Nebraska. Well, it is game on. This will be an election unlike any other in the modern era. Two wildly flawed candidates for president will try to convince voters that the other is the one more unfit for the office. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both have their baggage, but along with his problems, Trump does have a couple of things going for him. Trump’s first big problem is obvious: He’s wildly unpopular. Specifically, he’s unpopular with two critical voter groups, women and Hispanics. He needs to earn support from these groups, but all the evidence suggests it will be very...

Left-wing activist, an El Chapo sympathizer and frequent Chavez-Castro advocate, says he will be backing Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump this election year. Sean Penn, profiled in this weekend's Financial Times, told its media editor Matthew Garrahan that he has little use for the GOP's presumptive billionaire nominee. "It doesn't matter what Trump says because all he is doing is selling," the actor said.

Why Donald Trump should be President. In December 2014, Peter Economy of Inc. magazine wrote, “The Top 10 Skills Every Great Leader Needs to Succeed.” Trump has them all. 1. Inspires and motivates others. My favorite example is Jim Herman, who at 38 won his first PGA tournament on April 3, 2016. Herman tried for years to make the PGA but gave up on his dreams a decade ago, and settled in as an assistant pro at Trump National in Bedminster, New Jersey. “I got into a nice conversation with Donald, Mr. Trump, one day. He’s like, ‘Why are you...

Donald Trump's support has surged and he is now running nearly even with Democrat Hillary Clinton among likely U.S. voters, a dramatic turnaround since he became the Republican party's presumptive presidential nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday. The results could signal a close fight between the two likely White House rivals as Americans make up their minds ahead of the Nov. 8 election to succeed Democratic President Barack Obama. As recently as last week, Clinton led Trump by around 13 points in the poll. In the most recent survey, 41 percent of likely voters supported Clinton, the...

Democratic Party leaders are upping the pressure on Bernie Sanders to drop his presidential campaign, alarmed that his continued presence is undermining efforts to beat the presumptive Republican nominee, Donald Trump, and again win the White House. "I don't think they think of the downside of this," said Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., a supporter of front-runner Hillary Clinton and broker of the post-primary peace between Clinton and then-Illinois Sen. Barack Obama in 2008.

Poor #NeverTrumpers – Their third party option is fizzling out. The third party effort by disgruntled insiders to defeat Republican nominee Donald Trump is fizzling out as a growing number of Republicans rally around Trump. The Hill reported: An effort by prominent conservatives to recruit a third party candidate to run against Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton is fizzling out. A serious third party run would cost millions, and GOP donors have so far been reluctant to embrace a bid. No major political star has stepped forward publicly so far to be a third-party candidate either, and possible recruits, such...

Kelli Ward is preparing for a long summer. With Arizona’s congressional primaries seemingly far off on the horizon in August, the former Arizona state senator has a ways to go on the road to unseat sitting Senator John McCain (AZ-R). Despite the facing daunting challenge of taking on a three-decade incumbent, Ward sees that this just might be the time to do it, according to a phone interview with Conservative Review on Wednesday. “You’ve seen it across the whole country, people are angry, upset, disappointed and disgusted with Washington, DC, with inside the beltway politics, and I see that right...

They called him a madman, a con man, a cancer and worse during an ugly nominating fight, but in the week since Donald J. Trump became the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, many of his former rivals and members of the party’s establishment are already softening on him. Hard feelings are often short-lived in presidential politics, but the personal nature of this year’s race raised fears that unity would be hard to achieve. While a battered former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida and a bruised Senator Ted Cruz of Texas are still keeping their distance from Mr. Trump, the recent outreach...

A federal judge delivered a blow to the Obama administration and the president’s signature health care law Thursday in a lawsuit mounted by the House of Representatives. But the lawsuit’s future could be impacted further by November’s elections. U.S. District Judge Rosemary Collyer sided with the House in a case challenging how the Obama administration has been funding payments to insurers through Obamacare’s cost-sharing subsidies. Collyer, appointed by President George W. Bush, is allowing the program to continue, pending an appeal from the Department of Justice.

Ted Cruz isn’t giving up. While Donald Trump dispatches three advisers to Texas’s convention in Dallas this week and makes a pitch for party unity, his team will be running up against a Cruz operation that is still maneuvering to stuff the state’s delegation with allies the senator could call on to snub the presumptive nominee. “We have a busy weekend planned,” said a source familiar with the Cruz campaign’s plans. Cruz is scheduled to deliver an address at the Texas convention after a week of hinting he could jump back into the presidential contest and urging activists to thwart...

Former House Speaker John Boehner is supporting Donald Trump, although he disagrees with Trump on issues like foreign policy, Trump's temporary Muslim entry ban proposal, and tearing up trade deals, among other things. In Las Vegas at a financial industry conference, Boehner said the billionaire businessman is the presumptive Republican nominee for president, "whether people like it or not." And he is confident that Trump can beat likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Donald Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan concluded their highly anticipated meeting Thursday amid signals that the Republican Party will work to piece itself together after a fractious primary. "While we were honest about our few differences, we recognize that there are also many important areas of common ground," Trump and Ryan said in a joint statement. "We will be having additional discussions, but remain confident there's a great opportunity to unify our party and win this fall, and we are totally committed to working together to achieve that goal."

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump declared Wednesday he doesn't need support from House Speaker Paul Ryan or other leery Republican leaders, brushing off his Capitol Hill critics even as he prepared to sit down with them. His defiant message came amid new signs that he might be right, with GOP voters becoming more willing to embrace the New York billionaire. Their public differences are overshadowing the GOP rank and file's movement toward Trump and his own efforts to broaden his appeal as the general election campaign takes shape. "If we make a deal, that will be great," Trump told Fox News...
