Starting next July, eBay (EBAY) will no longer let Google (GOOG) provide transaction checkout services on eBay Web sites. It won’t allow any checkout service except its own PayPal-featured service. EBay’s instituting the new policy “to give eBay buyers a consistent, speedy checkout experience and to ensure support for fast-growing sales via mobile platforms...,” Todd Lutwak, eBay’s vice president of the seller experience, wrote in a little-noticed blog post last week. “It’s certainly an attempt to get more revenue through PayPal and direct people to PayPal,” said Beth Robertson, director of payments research for Javelin Strategy & Research.

HACKENSACK — Two items presumed stolen from the USS Ling submarine almost 30 years ago have been returned to the New Jersey Naval Museum after turning up on eBay for five days.  A brass wheel and an aluminum compartment checkoff list, both missing from the Ling since the early 1980s, were returned to the museum by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office on Monday. Tallahassee, Florida — The Florida GOP says they're planning to dump a portrait of the formerly Republican Governor Charlie Crist on eBay. But the one that went up for sale on April 30 isn't theirs. The Florida GOP cut ties with Crist last week after he announced he's going to run for Senate as an independent. They're removed his signature from their letterhead. And they announced they'll be selling a $7500 portrait of him on eBay.

Boston -- Barnstable police arrested a 43-year-old woman, her daughter and another teenager on Friday who were allegedly part of a shoplifting ring that sold an estimated $20,000 of stolen makeup and retail goods online. Police said the three women targeted CVS stores in Cape Cod, swiping hundreds of dollars in cosmetics and beauty supplies at a time, then selling them through the Web site eBay and mailing them out to customers from a home in Hyannis.

A gentleman who goes by the screen name "Hitman" placed the winning bid on a 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8. Hitman won the eBay auction fair and square with a bid of $29,100 on a vehicle that is sticker priced at around $46,000. The dealership, Glenn E Thomas Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Signal Hill, California claims that their employee made a mistake when listing the vehicle and forgot to set a reserve price.
