Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death leaves a vacancy on the nation’s highest court, and Sen. Bob Casey Jr. wants the Senate to wait until after the election to vote on her replacement. Casey, D-Pa., called on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to follow the precedent he set four years ago. In 2016, McConnell and Senate Republicans refused a vote on President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland. “Consistent with the precedent set by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in 2016, Justice Ginsburg’s seat should not be filled until the presidential election concludes and the candidate chosen by voters...

Colin Kaepernick is standing behind his decision not to vote in the presidential election or even register to take part in the democratic process, saying he can effect change in other ways besides through a ballot. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback has knelt through the national anthem all season to protest police brutality and the treatment of minorities, drawing criticism and acclaim alike. He took more heat for not voting last week. “I thought a lot of different things about the process and what I could and couldn’t do,” he said Tuesday. “Once again, the system of oppression is what...

Cass Sunstein, Administrator of The White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, uses the White House White Board to lay out the facts and show that we can protect health and safety while promoting economic goals as well. And he explains how people died via Bush's overly regulated two terms, destroying Clinton's lean government legacy.

You know who you are: You broke Bill Maher's heart. Remember that? It was sophomore year at Pascack Hills High School, and the awkward kid from River Vale was on top of the world. He wasn't one of the cool kids. He was half-nerd (who ranked seventh in a class of 400-plus students), half-class-clown (whose a-little-too-edgy standup act forced the termination of the long-running school talent show). He was trying to fit in, like every high school kid, and he had a girlfriend — that bulletproof vest for the male ego against the social ammunition of the painful teen years....

SALT LAKE CITY — There was a lot of contention in federal court Thursday over whether Walter Bond rose to the level of a "serial arsonist." But U.S. District Judge Ted Stewart didn't seem that confused before sentencing the 35-year-old to more than seven years in prison — 12 considering that Stewart ordered the sentence to run consecutive with a five-year sentence handed down for arson in Colorado. "I will be the first to admit that I am a serial arsonist," the judge said, quoting something Bond wrote in February. "He does take pride (in what he's done). The court...

When Sharron Angle’s pastor went on a hate-filled rant about Mormonism, calling the religion “kooky” and a “cult,” it was tempting to assume the Republican U.S. Senate candidate would pay the consequences. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are among Nevada’s most politically engaged and conservative constituencies. But it is Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, himself a Mormon, who is facing the tough questions from members of the faith. That was apparent the moment he walked into a meeting of the Mormon Business Associates networking group in August. Members, angry with his liberal policies, peppered...

I was looking for that picture of O cringing next to Michelle at a martial arts demonstration at the White House lawn, but couldn't find it. Then, I wanted to gather more nancy-boy/dorky pics of him for posterity. Post away!

Almost every week at the New York Times, house "conservative" David Brooks and liberal columnist Gail Collins have a public conversation. This week Brooks made a startling admission in The Conversation which really wasn't so surprising when one actually reads his columns. Here is the money quote: At the moment, I feel politically closer to Barack Obama than to House Minority Leader John Boehner (and that’s even while being greatly exercised about the current health care bills).

THIS is the last you'll see of Tucker Carlson with his trademark bow tie. "I'm not wearing a bow tie" anymore, the MSNBC host wrote in his blog yesterday. "This is odd for me. I've worn a bow tie on television every night for the past six years, and for 15 years off-air before that . . . Since I was in the 10th grade.

Companies are charging smokers more money for health insurance CINCINNATI — Smokers already feeling pressure from increasing cigarette costs and workplace smoking bans are now feeling squeezed from another direction — health insurance premiums. A growing number of employers — private and public — are charging employees who use tobacco more money for their health insurance coverage. Employers hope that the higher charges will motivate more employees to stop smoking, resulting in improved health and lower health care costs for the companies and their workers. "With smokers costing companies about 25 percent more than nonsmokers in the area of health...

PARK CITY, Utah (AP) - Al Gore is not all that comfortable being a star of the Sundance Film Festival. He's far more concerned that the celebrity watchers hear what he has to say. The former U.S. vice-president came to town for the premiere of An Inconvenient Truth, a documentary chronicling what has become his crusade since losing the 2000 presidential election: educating the masses that global warming is about to toast our ecology and our way of life. Gore has been saying it for decades, since a college class in the 1960s convinced him that greenhouse gases from oil,...

Tax cuts - Well I didn't get one, and in fact I'm a lot poorer now. But a lot of rich folks did get them and I'm am just waiting for that money to trickle down to me. Any day now and I'll be rollin in it! Bad guys - None of that wimpy negotiations and measured responses for our President. It's kill 'em all and let Allah sort 'em out. That's what I'm talking about! And what's even better is when they get captured. Our President knows how these people need to dealt with. If somebody shoved a chain...

Left-wing websites are reporting that Scott Ritter, a (1) former U.N. Weapons inspector, (2) one-time arrestee for soliciting an underage girl on the Internet, and (3) recipient of $400,000 (from an associate of Saddam Hussein) used to finance an anti-Iraq war film, recently stated at an anti-war "talk" that the Bush Administration has authorized plans to "bomb" Iran in June 2005. Not surprising, the evil/mischievous/mystical "neo-conservatives" are thrilled with this idea and see it as an opportunity to further promote their idealistic agenda democratic reform in the Middle East. Additionally, Ritter put forth that the United States "cooked" the election...

I was just reading Article 2 of James Madison & Ben Franklin's opus magnus and started counting the number of times that masculine gender is indicated. Hmmm, I doesn't appear that Hildabeast (or "Law of the Sea" Condi for that matter) can even be president.: Article II.Section. 1. Clause 1: The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows ... Clause 6: In Case of the Removal of...

Archbishop of Canterbury admits: This makes me doubt the existence of God By Chris Hastings, Patrick Hennessy and Sean Rayment (Filed: 02/01/2005) The Asian tsunami disaster should make all Christians question the existence of God, Dr Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, writes in The Telegraph today. In a deeply personal and candid article, he says "it would be wrong" if faith were not "upset" by the catastrophe which has already claimed more than 150,000 lives. Dr Rowan Williams: Prayer provides no 'magical solutions' Prayer, he admits, provides no "magical solutions" and most of the stock Christian answers to human...
