Washington (CNN)During a "Family Reunion" conference hosted by the Hispanic Leadership Network in April 2013, Jeb Bush spoke freely on the promise immigrants hold for America and his views on reform. He said, during a discussion with Univision, that it was "ridiculous" to think that DREAMers, children brought to the U.S. by their parents illegally, shouldn't have an "accelerated path" to citizenship. Then, the former Florida governor was speaking to a friendly audience of establishment Republicans, after re-inserting himself in the immigration reform with the release of a controversial book on the issue a month prior. But as he moves...

President Obama will host a half-dozen Dreamers — illegal immigrants here under his temporary deportation amnesty — at the White House on Wednesday as he tries to fight back against Republicans’ efforts to cancel his immigration policies. A White House official said the president would meet with Dreamers from Texas, Maryland, Nevada, Connecticut, New York and Virginia, using them as evidence for why congressional Republicans should relent and allow his amnesties to remain in effect. “The meeting takes place as Congressional Republicans are threatening to block funding for critical national security priorities for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) because...

So-called Obamacare “architect” Jonathan Gruber was called to testify at a Tuesday House regarding his past controversial remarks about the creation and passage of the health care law. While many of the testy exchanges that occurred during the hearing were covered and even trumpeted by conservative media, a furious Mark Levin said the exercise was pointless. “The very Republicans grilling this guy don’t plan to do a damn thing about Obamacare! They’re not going to use the power of the purse to control any piece of it!” Levin shouted on the air. “So, what is the point of a hearing?...

In a very political move, the president has announced new rules for a specific group of illegal aliens. If your parents brought you to America when you were under 16, if you have completed high school, or served in the military, and if you are under the age of 30 now, then you are most likely going to stay in America. ... As for the policy, how can you blame kids when they are dragged to the US? It's not the child's fault that laws were broken. Thus the new policy is humane, and the President believes it will make...

Burwell was speaking on a public Google hangout with prominent Latina bloggers to promote Saturday’s opening of the Obamacare enrollment period when she shifted to her thoughts on immigration reform. “DREAMers are not able to be covered in the marketplace. And this is an issue that I think is more than a health care issue — it is an immigration issue,” Burwell said in response to a question about whether families with mixed immigration statuses...

Judge Jeanine Pirro remarked that the Obama Administration is violating federal law by reducing the military by 90,000 while simultaneously recruiting illegal immigrants into the armed services and arming them through unilateral executive order. Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Allen West joined the judge to discuss this unlawful action. Col. West agreed with Judge Jeanine’s comment that it is a felony to arm an illegal immigrant under Title 18 USC 922 (d)(5a) “When has law ever meant anything to Barack Hussein Obama? But the more important thing that we have to come to understand is if you go to the Constitution,...

Tens of thousands of young families caught crossing the border illegally earlier this year subsequently failed to meet with federal immigration agents, as they were instructed, the Homeland Security Department has acknowledged privately. The Associated Press obtained an audio...

When I discovered my status in high school, I was worried I wouldn't be able to attend college at all. After I arrived home from soccer practice, the phone rang. “El Camino,” my mother said as she handed it to me, referring to a nearby community college. I was taking engineering courses there, offered in conjunction with my high school, but the woman from the registrar’s office had a problem: The Social Security number I had provided to receive college credit did not match my name, and if I couldn’t provide a valid number, I’d have to pay almost $2,000 for...

Fall classes began at many of Washington's public universities Wednesday, beginning the first term undocumented immigrant students can receive state-backed financial aid under a new state law. But while more than 2,000 students applied to receive state need grants under provisions of the newly-enacted Washington "Dream Act," state higher education officials say it's possible as many as 700 of these undocumented students won't receive an aid award at all — even if they're eligible. It's not just undocumented students who will miss out. Though state expenditures on the program have ballooned as tuition costs get higher, there isn't enough funding...

They come up through Mexico, most from El Salvador and Honduras, alone and underage, fleeing the possibility of rape, assault and kidnapping. What will happen to them once they reach U.S. soil is vague at best. It isn’t a new story — unaccompanied minors have been coming to the United States for dozens of years — but the numbers are increasing, and many of the children are coming to North Carolina. Data released in August by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services shows that nearly 43,500 unaccompanied minors have been released to the care of a U.S. sponsor...

George P. Bush, Jeb Bush's son and Republican candidate for Texas land commissioner, said that in-state tuition for illegal immigrants is just a "nominal" cost to taxpayers.
