"Referring to Hillary as 'Mrs. Clinton' diminishes her accomplishments by specifically attaching her to Bill and subtly diverting attention to her famous husband and his administration ... it makes her appear as if she retired after serving as First Lady and retreated to Arkansas to stereotypically sip sweet tea on her front porch, instead of then becoming a [U.S.] Senator and Secretary of State."

When President Barack Obama ran for re-election, Democrats made no secret of their disdain for Mitt Romney. That was all before Donald Trump. Horrified by the prospect of Trump in the White House, Obama and his party have changed their tune about Romney. As they denounce Trump as “unhinged” and unfit, they’re getting nostalgic about the 2012 Republican nominee they now describe as principled, competent and honorable. It’s a sharp reversal from four years ago. Back then, Democrats spent hundreds of millions of dollars portraying the former Massachusetts governor as a callous, unpatriotic, pet-abusing caricature of the über-rich. …

<p>HBO's Last Week Tonight host John Oliver pitches a new idea to Donald Trump: Avoid losing to Hillary Clinton by dropping out of the race for president now.</p>
<p>“You’re either going to win or you’re going to lose, and I think both those scenarios end pretty badly for you,” Oliver told the GOP presidential nominee on his HBO series Sunday. “I would like to propose to you a third option and that is, drop out. Simply drop out and tell America this entire candidacy was a stunt.”</p>

Vice President Joe Biden wouldn’t let go of Hillary Clinton’s waist for a lengthy amount of time, about 18 seconds, during his greeting hug before their joint campaign appearance in Pennsylvania.

Vice President Joe Biden revealed during a campaign rally with Hillary Clinton that he had a military aide with the nuclear football codes present at the event. “There’s a guy that follows me right back here, has the nuclear codes,” Biden said, turning and pointing. “So God forbid anything happened to the president and I had to make a decision, the codes are with me.” After Biden bragged about how the nuclear codes were with him, he said that Trump was “not qualified” to know the nuclear launch codes. He said Trump was not worthy of being the commander in...

As far as ABC’s Cokie Roberts is concerned, Donald Trump attacking Hillary Clinton as “unhinged” is basically a gendered attack. Trump has recently taken to calling Clinton “unhinged” and “unbalanced,” implying she’s “not all there.” On ABC’s This Week this morning, Sara Fagen said that’s not the issue people have with Clinton, so that won’t be a particularly helpful line of attack. Then Roberts said, “‘Unhinged’ and ‘she doesn’t look presidential’ is totally code for ‘we shouldn’t elect a woman.’ That’s exactly what that is.”

Mark Shields, the Democratic pundit on the PBS NewsHour, shocked the anchors a bit on Thursday night in a roundtable to discuss what Hillary Clinton needed to do with her acceptance speech. His answer was she needed to focus on people who feel let down by the economy....but not before he said she had the worst campaign slogan he'd ever heard! MARK SHIELDS: I think she - first of all, it's a great victory, acknowledge it. She has made history. The single worst campaign slogan I have ever heard, "I'm with her," I mean, it means nothing. It absolutely means...

A Rhode Island congressman says he’s asking President Barack Obama to withhold classified materials and briefings from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in the interest of national security. U.S. Rep. David Cicilline, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, sent a letter to Obama on Wednesday. […] Cicilline says Trump’s “call for hostile foreign action” goes beyond partisan politics and “represents a threat to the republic itself.” …

When local artist Natasha Marin spoke with Seattle Weekly last week about Reparations.me, her then-7-day-old website and Facebook page, she was clearly fraying around the edges—underfed, overworked, and ragged as hell.“I’ve had about 12 hours of sleep since Friday,” she said over the phone with a hoarse laugh, as a second phone buzzed and buzzed in the background. She responded to one last frantic message and attempted to close the “99 windows I have open” in order to pull together her thoughts. “I maybe have eaten, like, one real meal. I’m at that point of exhaustion now, if I see...

If you took time to watch the Republican National Convention you might have noticed a song or two from your favorite artist being blasted over the speakers at Quicken Loans Arena. Music has become the backdrop for this election season and some artists have welcomed the usage of their work by presidential candidates while others have been totally disgusted by it. Since Donald Trump's announcement to run for presidency in 2015 several artists have come out against the nominee's use of their music.

CNN commentator and liberal talking head Sally Kohn went after Donald Trump during his speech at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland Thursday night, slamming him for allegedly “profiling” people by bizarrely pointing out mass shootings committed by “white guys” armed with “AK-15s.” Which…well, isn’t a real thing. […] Kohn tried to correct her multiple embarrassing mistakes — most notably when she mixed up an AR-15 with an AK-47 — before once again berating “the right” for pointing out the fact that…well, she clearly knows nothing about guns. …

At least five people were handcuffed and taken into custody at a flag-burning by anti-war protesters in downtown Cleveland Wednesday, in the first alleged violence at the Republican National Convention.

“So it is worth reminding ourselves of how lucky we are to be living in the most peaceful, most prosperous, most progressive era in human history,” Obama said in the speech. “Because the world has never been less violent, healthier, better educated, more tolerant, with more opportunity for more people, and more connected than it is today,” he also said. Here are excerpts from the president’s speech as transcribed on the White House website: Obviously, this has been a tough couple of weeks, not just here in the United States but around the world. And that’s being amplified to some...

Jamie Kirchick, writing in the Los Angeles Times, asks readers to imagine a military coup against a future President Donald Trump — and argues why one would be necessary. Kirchick cites the example of the recent failed coup in Turkey as a source of inspiration: Americans viewing the recent failed coup attempt in Turkey as some exotic foreign news story — the latest, violent yet hardly unusual political development to occur in a region constantly beset by turmoil — should pause to consider that the prospect of similar instability would not be unfathomable in this country if Donald Trump were

When a lone protester from the anti-American, far-left group Code Pink tried to make noise in the crowd at the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Tuesday night, the “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC tag-teamed with MSNBC to spent nearly six minutes showing and discussing the “scrappy” protester. ABC led the way with two minutes and 14 seconds hyping and/or showing the protester jostle with delegates and security as chief anchor and Clinton Foundation donor George Stephanopoulos intently interested in the protester’s actions. This then gave way to chief foreign correspondent Terry Moran chiding the RNC for “another...

CLEVELAND — Police broke up skirmishes between groups of demonstrators a few blocks from the Republican National Convention as large crowds formed Tuesday afternoon. There was no immediate word on any arrests or injuries. Members of the KKK, Black Lives Matter, and Westboro Baptist Church reportedly threw urine at each other and police had to step in in an attempt to keep the peace, a police spokesperson told KPLC. A scuffle also broke out when conspiracy theorist and radio show host Alex Jones started speaking in downtown’s Public Square. Police on bicycles pushed back a surging crowd, and Jones was...

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Black Lives Matter protesters took to Interstate 95 in downtown Richmond Monday afternoon, creating major backups during rush hour.
