Hundreds of Huskies are being abandoned by Game of Thrones fans who want to have their very own 'Direwolf'. British dog charities are concerned that Huskies are becoming the next 'problem breed' after being impulse bought by owners, only to find they can meet their demanding needs. Direwolves are the dogs kept by the Stark family in Game of Thrones, acting as body guards to the children.
  • Brooklyn Cop Shot my Dog — and Nearly Killed Me Too

A Brooklyn woman whose beloved dog was gunned down by cops claims she was nearly shot herself during the March incident. Laura Stephen said she was just three feet away from her “life partner,” a Catahoula mix named Ziggy, and trying to leash him when he was killed. She alleges that the officer fired without warning and falsely claimed the dog had charged him. The dog was simply responding to her call after she had briefly let him off leash,
  • Family’s Dogs Hailed as Heroes After Saving Children From Copperhead Snake

Two pit bulls are being hailed as heroes after saving children from a copperhead snake. According to WFLA, Slayer and Paco began barking at the snake when it got close to children who were playing in the backyard. That’s when the snake struck, and bit both dogs with its venom. Slayer was struck in he face and snout, while Paco was bit in the leg. Melissa Butt, the children’s grandmother, immediately rushed both dogs to an emergency vet. “We need to get the anti-venom quickly, in order for them to get a good prognosis. It is very, very painful,” Dr....
  • White need to fulfill supremacy - dog ownership

See all the White folk. Walking their precious dogs for all to see. They even talk to them. A replacement for their slave-owner, inner desire. They can't own a Negro, so now they replace that urge with a dog. Most will play the white guilt game, but really, the dog is their new negro. A lot of them train their kids to walk and OWN the dog too. To perpetuate the need. Racist to the bone. No change after all these years.

Wilber Zarate filed a lawsuit against the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals for taking his 9-year-old daughter’s dog from their mobile park home and then putting the pooch down ahead of the state’s mandatory five-day grace period.... In the suit, Zarate claimed PETA works under a board policy of euthanizing animals because it “considers pet ownership to be a form of involuntary bondage.”
  • Furbaby ALERT! There is Leptospirosis (Lepto) bacteria in the Texas Hill Country

Our veterinarian told us that Leptospirosis (Lepto) is back in the area. He hasn't seen it in decades until a local dog died of it a couple of weeks ago. He gave our two slobber buckets a shot for it this morning and they'll be back for a booster in a month. He's very trustworthy about not prescribing more than is needed and was concerned about it. The bacteria grows in standing water so don't leave buckets or containers outside. We drained the fountain. Years ago, cattle would get it with water sitting in hoof prints on the ground. Hardly...
  • Colorado K-9 Unlatches Gate With Paw to Rescue Injured Deputy

A Colorado police dog unlatched a gate with his paw to help a deputy injured in a confrontation with a suspect he was trying to apprehend, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said. A deputy responded to a call of a trespass in progress around 1 a.m. on Saturday in Shaw Heights. While he was investigating, the male he was speaking with ran. The deputy jumped a fence in pursuit of the suspect and he was separated from his canine partner. “As the suspect fought with the deputy, K-9 Lex unlatched the gate with his paw. Then Lex came to the...

My shed is like a lot of other sheds. ItÂ’s an old shed, flirting with almost 25 years now. ThereÂ’s some rust in parts, it has some dents, but so do I. ThereÂ’s tools galore that assisted in building, fixing, destroying and defending our tiny corner of the world. TheyÂ’re proud of a job well done. Strewn are pieces of memories that beg for momentum to be remembered. Raising their hand to answer the question of glory past. In the corner is a shovel splintered with half the handle cut off. The narrowing part that comes to form a rounded...

To honor cats on the International Cat Day, DW encourages their human companions to protect the planet we all share. From carbon pawprint to waste to wildlife, it is in our hands to take up better practices. Your cat’s sweet purring and loving, contented looks won’t change the fact that it’s guilty for the planet’s suffering — just like we are. A recent study confirms that pets’ meat-based diet has a fatal impact on the climate, due mainly to high carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, our loyal friends are big resource consumers and waste creators. The situation is particularly worrisome...

George Orwell, best known for his dystopian glimpses of a future to be dreaded, was also a master of the light essay. In one of them, he described his favorite pub: The Moon Under Water, where an Englishman of the old school could take the family for a plowman's special that appealed to the curious English taste for snacks like liverwurst sandwiches, mussels, cheese and other tidbits that might not appeal to an American's palate but certainly did to John Bull's culinary peculiarities. All served while the customer quaffed a warm British beer in a traditional glass free of handles....

A devastated family wants answers after their beloved Catahoula hound dog was shot and killed last month in their front yard by an Ocoee police officer. But a police report released this week sheds little light on what happened. Stevens Bertrand, a school resource officer at Ocoee High, shot the 11-year-old dog named Duke in the head outside Charlie and Lisa Brooks’ home on July 17. “I couldn’t believe something like that happened. I was completely shocked,” Charlie Brooks said. The incident has prompted questions and outrage from the Brooks family, who expressed frustration at the Police Department’s vague description...

Every dog owner will tell you that their four-legged friend is brimming with special qualities. But in the case of this labrador-cross, it wouldn’t be empty boast. For Blat is a pioneering dog with a powerful nose. He is one of just a handful of canines in the world – and the only one in Spain – that has been trained to detect lung cancer. And he can do so from just a whiff of the breath of someone suspected of having the disease. According to a study published in the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, Blat had a success...

While investigators search for a fire cause in Naples, a family is crediting their dog with helping them get out alive. Sadly, that pet didn’t survive the fire. Fire officials say four people were inside of the home. Two adults and one child got out safely. Another adult was taken to the hospital to be treated for burns. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time. The Naples fire chief says the fire started around 4:30 Tuesday morning on Pleasant View Drive. Several fire departments from surrounding towns responded as mutual aid, blocking off Gore Road. The American...

German Shepherds are living and dying in misery due to intensive breeding for “cosmetic” reasons, a major new report by the Royal Veterinary College has found. A survey of data collected from 430 clinics across the UK reveals arthritis, cancer, aggression and sloping backs are afflicting the breed at higher rates than others due to aggressive selection. Nearly one in two German Shepherds is being put down because they are unable to walk, experts said.

Molly seemed like a perfectly normal female pup at first. It was only when she started taking walks outside that we noticed unusual behaviour The death of our collie Bonnie in 2006 hit my husband Frank and me so hard that it was almost a decade before we considered taking on another dog. But, late in 2015, my daughter mentioned that a friend of hers had a jack russell that was about to have pups. Familiar with female dogs, we decided that if there were any bitches in the litter we would take one. That’s how we ended up with...

The Spay and Neuter Cookies are being designed to be species and gender specific. Dog cookies will only work on dogs. Cat cookies will only work on cats. Spay cookies will only spay females. Neuter cookies will only neuter males. Better yet, they are being engineered so that they will only need to be...

AG Jeff Sessions is most likely going to be fired in the coming days, as President Trump has had enough of his reluctance to focus the Justice Department’s efforts towards the prosecution of crimes into the abuses of Obama-era officials, and due to his decision shortly after taking the oath of office to recuse himself from anything to do with the Russia collusion fantasy play. AG Sessions is a good man, but his decision to focus on things like asset forfeiture for drug dealers and prosecuting violators of marijuana laws have indeed reached the point of absurdity. But it is...

Since 1980, PETA has made a name for itself as the number-one authority on animal welfare. UK-based YouTube vlogger Calum McSwiggan, however, wants people to consider otherwise, and recently used a scathing Twitter rant to sound off on the organisation’s true colours. After recent investigations, PETA has come under fire for a lot more than just the scantily clad women they use for marketing. In a March 2017 press release, the Center for Consumer Freedom revealed that PETA euthanized more than 1400 cats and dogs at its Norfolk, Virginia shelter in 2016. PETA defends their actions as ethically and economically...
