How far will our ideologically demented ruling class push Affirmative Action before people start pushing back? Already it has played a role in destroying our schools, with a liberal judge actually abolishing aptitude tests on the grounds that blacks don’t score as well. But apparently people don’t think it matters whether teachers have any qualifications other than skin color. If being black can get you into the White House, why not a classroom? Maybe airliners crashing into each other will wake people up:

Oh my. According to that sourcelink, a sophomore by the name of Anthony Berteaux from San Diego State University decided to write an open letter to Jerry Seinfeld in response to Seinfeld's recent criticism of college students for being too politically correct. I'm fairly certain that Anthony didn't mean for his letter to completely prove that Seinfeld was 100% correct, but that's exactly what it did.

These are vicious young men, vicious young men, and what they did to...

Berkeley High School officials are investigating what is being called racist remarks in the campus yearbook. Senior student Robael Gizachew said a page in the new yearbook is offensive. A text describing the Academy of Medicine and Public Service, or AMPS program, replaced the word "innovators" with "trash collators." "I believe it's racist because they don't expect highly of us," Gizachew said. Gizachew and his friends said racism is common campus. Students told school staff about the insult on Tuesday, which prompted administrators to recall the yearbooks. "We've collected most of them back," said Mark Coplan of the Berkeley Unified...

Let's set aside whether Cameron Crowe's new movie, "Aloha," is a good or bad movie. Whatever the flick's merits or demerits, it has inadvertently helped expose the arbitrary, capricious and ridiculous demands of militant identity politics. After getting hammered by ethnic mau-mauers, director Crowe issued an apology this week for casting actress Emma Stone as the character "Allison Ng" in his Hawaii-centered rom-com. Stone is the alabaster-skinned, green-eyed, red-haired beauty who played Spider-Man's sweetheart, Gwen Stacy. "Ng" is a fictional Air Force fighter pilot of Chinese, Hawaiian and Swedish descent. Native Hawaiians wanted a Native Hawaiian cast in the role....

The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren’t only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else.”— Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. One of the nation’s largest, sharpest, and wealthiest school systems, Fairfax County, has announced a bright, new idea (to take effect in 2016) that will directly influence district students in grades seven through twelve. It’s not a faster way to learn math, a more creative way to write stories, or a better...

When I think of Brazil, what comes to mind initially is Aquarelo Do Brazil [Water Color of Brazil], an absolutely glorious samba written by Ary Barroso in 1939, which went international when Walt Disney made a breathtaking cartoon in 1942 using the song as backdrop. The animation begs description, and one finds it hard to believe that it could have been made decades before computer graphics. The song is hypnotic and beguiling, like Brazil itself. However, the image is deceptive, as is much of Brazil. In 2012, Brazil surpassed Britain in economic output to become the sixth biggest economy in...

Standing before a Kerman High School class on Wednesday, Raj Sra talked about being the only Punjabi kid at his Tulare schools growing up. He was called many names. “Everything you can imagine: raghead, camel jockey,” Sra said, who now works as an information systems and technology administrator for the Fresno County Office of Education. “People had no idea where India was. They thought anybody with a turban was Muslim or from Arabia. It was just some far-off place.” Fresno County school officials, in partnership with local Sikh leaders, are working to change that skewed perception. Together, they produced a...

According to the Rutgers Daily Targum, freshman Emmet Brennan helped author a bill “…to create black, Latino, Asian, and third-gender mascot friends to accompany the school’s original “Scarlet Knight” mascot adopted in 1955.” “Our mascot does not represent how diverse we are as a school,” decided Brennan after he “…noticed the mascot’s fair skin and blue eyes while working as a press box server during the university’s football games.” Katie Park, writing for the Daily Targum, tells her readers: After taking issue with the mascot’s complexion, Brennan began collaborating with student Mohamed Asker who currently serves as the SA’s student...

Presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) invested time Friday at the Georgia Republican State Convention in Athens as he met delegates and delivered two speeches. Cruz was surrounded by admirers late Saturday afternoon once delegates discovered his staff room on the second floor of the Classic Center in Athens, where the state’s GOP convention was being held. A line formed and a crowd gathered to shake his hand, ask him about issues and pose with him for a photo. Cruz is one of a half-dozen declared Republican candidates for president in what is expected to be a crowded...

A student union officer who banned white people and men from an event promoting equality has claimed she "cannot be racist" because she is an ethnic minority woman. Goldsmiths University's student union welfare and diversity officer Bahar Mustafa sparked a backlash when she told white people and men they should not attend an event on "diversifying the curriculum". She wrote on Facebook: “Invite loads of BME Women and non-binary people!! Also, if you’ve been invited and you’re a man and/or white PLEASE DON’T COME just cos I invited a bunch of people and hope you will be responsible enough to...

Occasionally, I wonder whether I'm alone in some of my wonderings. Look at the claim that conservatives or Republicans have launched a war on women as a part of their overall mean-spirited agenda. In the case of mistreatment of women — or of anyone else — assault, rape and murder are about as horrible as it gets. But I would be willing to bet a lot of money that most of the assaults, rapes and murders of women are done by people who identify as liberals or Democrats, particularly in the cases of murderers. Most crime, except perhaps white-collar crime,...

When I was a freshman at the University of Chicago in 1996, I heard the same thing again and again: Do not leave the boundaries of Hyde Park. Do not go north of 47th Street. Do not go south of 61st Street. Do not go west of Cottage Grove Avenue. These boundaries were fairly explicit, almost to the point of being an official university policy. The campus police department was not committed to protecting students beyond the area, and the campus safety brochure advised students not to use the “El” train stops just a couple of blocks beyond them unless...
