The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club on Wednesday canceled its racing program this weekend after 15 jockeys and seven other workers tested positive for COVID-19. Fourteen of the 15 jockeys were from a group of Del Mar jockeys who raced over the July 4 weekend at Los Alamitos – raising to 19 the total number of positive COVID-19 tests among jockeys who competed at the Orange County track. Plus, all seven of the non-riding personnel, who work in the jockeys’ room at the track, were at Los Alamitos the week before Del Mar opened. “The good news is that all our...

President Barack Obama’s Treasury Department regularly surveilled retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn’s financial records and transactions beginning in December 2015 and well into 2017, before, during and after when he served at the White House as President Donald Trump’s National Security Director, a former senior Treasury Department official, and veteran of the intelligence community, told the Star Newspapers. “I started seeing things that were not correct, so I did my own little investigation, because I wanted to make sure what I was seeing was correct” she said. “You never want to draw attention to something if there is...

INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A horse was exhumed Saturday at the now defunct Hollywood Park Race Track. CBS2′s Greg Mills was there and said archeology students from USC participated in the dig. The horse was buried near the grandstand about eight feet down. The students arrived just before 8 a.m. Saturday morning. By 5 p.m., they’d already dug far enough to expose the horse’s remains, including the ribs and hindquarters. The dig was an unusual project for the students to undertake. “It really gives them the chance to get hands-on experience,” said archeologist Sarah Newman.”It’s experience that is really hard to...

Since the dems have brushed off the health-care experts nee commercial actors Harry and Louise to lead us all over the ObamaCare cliff, we may as well trot out our own experts. Delmar is unemployed, and has been since the Oil Embargo of 1973. It’s a political stand more than an inability to find a job. He lives in rural Kentucky. The nearest employer to his home is 14 miles. He refuses to buy gasoline because, he says, “the money just goes to them Arabs. That ain’t good.” He’s a Vietnam vet with a bum left leg that prevents him...

SACRAMENTO – When Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was swept into office by the recall election in 2003, he promised to end politics as usual, where “money goes in and favors go out.” But Schwarzenegger has carried on the political tradition of providing favors – in the form of coveted state appointments – to generous campaign donors. At least 13 of Schwarzenegger's appointees, their spouses and their companies have contributed more than $1.4 million to his campaigns, according to campaign disclosure forms and a review by the Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights. Schwarzenegger has hired some donors for key positions in...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Rep. Randy ''Duke'' Cunningham, R-Calif., told the House on Monday that he's been served with a document subpoena in Imperial County, Calif., and plans to comply with it. His announcement was read on the House floor by a congressional clerk as the House convened for the week. Cunningham spokesman Mark Olson said the subpoena, issued by Imperial County Superior Court, concerned constituent casework, but he declined to give further details. He said it was unrelated to a real estate transaction by Cunningham that federal authorities in California are investigating. A federal grand jury has reportedly convened in...
