All the Rage By: Ben Johnson FrontPageMagazine.com | Wednesday, May 13, 2009 THIS WEEKEND’ WASHINGTON CORRESPONDENTS DINNER DEBASED OUR POLITICAL DISCOURSE IN A WAY NOT EVEN THE LEFT HAD NOT PREVIOUSLY SUCCEEDED, but Wanda Sykes’ death wish was not the cause in itself. The Left has made bloodlust for its political opponents de rigueur. The moment that desecrated one of our national institutions affected a more fundamental aspect of character. Another Leftist Death Wish: Ho-Hum The media have focused on the “controversy” surrounding Saturday’s Syke-o statements about Rush Limbaugh. Death threats to executives at American International Group Inc. because of the bonuses they received are one more sign of the utter degeneration of politics in our time. Rep. Barney Frank, Massachusetts Democrat, has threatened to summon these executives before his committee and force them to reveal their home addresses - which would, of course, put their wives and children at the mercy of whatever kooks might want to literally take a shot at them. Whatever the political or economic issues involved, this is not the way such issues should be resolved in America. We are not yet a banana...

Italy's "Festival di San Remo," the most important musical happening in my country which is seen on T.V. by millions of Italians, became the unlikely platform this year for a powerful ex-gay testimony. The singer, Giuseppe Povia, winner of the festival in 2006, presented a song entitled, "Luca Era Gay" (Luca was once gay) -- SEE VIDEO HERE. The title of his song, implying that some gays can change to heterosexuality, was sufficient to destabilize the Italian gay movement. Gay activists threatened to block the festival, and Europarlimentary member Vittorio Agnoletto asked for a European resolution to stop Povia from...

Was he caught dealing drugs? Did he rage? Did he kill? No. He started a No Cussing Club. And for that he is vilified. Hatch says some people are...

Vice President Biden, in a somber assessment of the road ahead, predicted Sunday that American casualties will climb in Afghanistan as the Obama administration shifts military priorities in the battle against terrorism. The war in that country will get bloodier, he said, as the U.S. sends in additional troops to take back territory now controlled by Taliban militants, who were weakened when American forces invaded following the 9/11 terrorist attacks but have regained strength in recent years. "We've inherited a real mess," Biden said in an interview on CBS' Face the Nation, referring to decisions by the Bush administration and...

Good grief - I suppose now that Bush is leaving, they'll have to focus their hatred towards Palin: The Republican vice presidential candidate attracted criticism for accusing Mr Obama of “palling around with terrorists”, citing his association with the sixties radical William Ayers. The attacks provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling “terrorist” and “kill him” until the McCain campaign ordered her to tone down the rhetoric. But it has now emerged that her demagogic tone may have unintentionally encouraged white supremacists to go even further. The Secret Service warned the Obama family in mid...

Yet more disturbing evidence of Barack Obama’s patent unsuitability for high office has dropped like a stone having briefly surfaced in the mainstream media. Last Monday, Amir Taheri reported in the New York Post that, while campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Obama tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence. This meant a number of things. First, the delay would keep US troops in Iraq until after the 2010 deadline for withdrawal proposed by Obama himself – thus showing, said Taheri, that...

Defense Secretary Robert Gates said he hoped the change would help establish permanent institutional support for counterinsurgency skills...
