LAS VEGAS – A shooting at a music festival on the Las Vegas Strip killed at least 50 people and wounded more than 200 others late Sunday, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said. Suburban Illinois police are asking for witnesses to speak out after an attack at a Six Flags theme park near Chicago left a family hospitalized. HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA) — Rapper Young Dolph was shot several times Tuesday next to the Loews Hotel in Hollywood, just steps away from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a bustling tourist district. The shooting occurred about 1:15 p.m. between a shoe store and the hotel on Highland Avenue, just north of Hollywood Boulevard. Dolph, 32, whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr., was in critical condition when rushed to a hospital. He is now in stable condition, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Felony charges have been recommended for the nine Florida players who have been suspended for the duration of the 2017 season thus far. Ahead of the season opener against Michigan, Florida announced suspensions for nine players, including Antonio Callaway, the team’s top receiver, and Jordan Scarlett, the team’s top rusher. The suspension stemmed from an investigation into the players allegedly using “school-issued, cost-of-attendance credit cards to buy electronics from the school bookstore and then selling those items for cash.”

Violent crime, including homicides, rose for the second consecutive year in 2016, driven by increases in a few urban centers including Baltimore, Chicago and Las Vegas, according to FBI data released Monday. Violent crimes increased nationally this past year by 4.1 percent and homicides rose by 8.6 percent, one year after violence increased by 3.9 percent and homicides jumped by 10.8 percent. One woman was killed and seven other people were hurt after a suspect identified as a Sudanese immigrant opened fire at a Tennessee church Sunday, police said, as federal officials told Fox News the FBI will initiate a civil rights investigation into the shooting. The suspect, 25-year-old Emanuel Kidega Samson, immigrated from Sudan two decades ago, police said.
