  • Why People Lost Their Minds When A Brooklyn Store Played ‘Sweet Home Alabama’

    11/23/2016 9:28:12 AM PST · by TigerClaws · 105 replies
Three days after the election, my wife and I were shopping at the Fairway Market in Red Hook, Brooklyn. For those unfamiliar with it, Fairway is a less corporate, more co-op version of Whole Foods, offering pretty produce and exotic cheeses that don’t come cheap. The mood in the store was glum. As in most of Brooklyn, people stared ahead, moving slowly, still in shock from the political earthquake of Tuesday night. After getting our Brazilian Arabica ground for drip (I know, I should really use a French Press), Libby and I walked towards the organic maple syrup. That’s when...

I saw George Jones in concert three times. He always put on a great show. My brother tried to go see him in Charleston once and he never showed. That was in his "No show Jones" days. He still has the ticket and wouldn't get rid of it for anything. After that his wife started calling George a drunk and my brother would let her know real fast that he was the greatest country singer that ever lived and he could drink as damn much as he felt like drinking. I'm going to see my brother in a couple days...

Will America have to suffer an even more catastrophic attack: nuclear, chemical or biological before we finally batten down the hatches, pull out all the stops and do whatever it takes to truly keep this nation safe? We know ISIS and the other radical Islamic crazies constantly attempt to insert operatives into America. In spite of this, our president wants to allow thousands of refugees into America, which we have already been told by ISIS will contain terrorists, and he even refuses to properly identify our blood enemy. Have we learned our lesson? Some of us have. But apparently, some...

Portland Public Schools officials are rethinking a district ban on rap music on buses after allegations of racism. The district had banished hip-hop from its buses, deeming the genre "inappropriate." Teri Brady, senior director of transportation at Portland Public Schools, sent a directive to bus drivers in March forbidding "religious, rap music, or talk show programs." The memo included a list of acceptable stations, broken down into three genres: pop, country and jazz. Parent Colleen Ryan-Onken obtained a copy and it circulated in August among outraged parents, prompting the district to walk back the directive in statements released Wednesday.
