I've seen the senate races heating up, but not nearly as much on the house seats. I'm mostly using information from DC POLITICAL REPORT and POLITICS1. STATES Alabama DISTRICT 3 - The other Mike Rogers (R) won in 02 with 50.3% over Democrat Joe Turnham(48.2%) in an open seat. So far, it looks as he is facing Democrat Bill Fuller, Ex-State Human Resources Commissioner. I haven't heard much about this race, but the first defense is hardest. Alaska SENATE - Lisa Murkowski(R) vs Ex governor Tony Knowles. This will be a tough race as Knowles is an ex-governor and Murkowski...

<p>DENVER — Gov. Bill Owens said Wednesday that the head of the Coors brewing empire, Peter H. Coors (search), will be a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate this fall.</p>
<p>"I talked to him an hour and a half ago and he is going to run," Owens said after a briefing on the state's wildfire season. "I think Pete Coors would make an outstanding senator."</p>

Senate Races to Watch 2004 South Dakota- I expect this one to be a barnburner. Thune is back and now there is a third party candidate (Tim Giago) that leans towards Daschle’s ideology. The Indian reservations in SD have been a haven for democratic votes and Tim Johnson owes his re-election to them. But now that an Indian candidate has applied to run, the Democrats are in trouble here. I expect Bush to visit often and the Republicans to put great effort into this race. The only thing that bothers me is the Janklow factor. He has done some damage...

Journalists, political pundits and other Hysteric Left activists are desperately trying to spin some cosmic significance out of Sunday's Spanish elections. The "conventional wisdom" is that the Spanish Election results are some sort of significant defeat for President Bush and the War on Terror. As usual the "News Media's" thinking is neither conventional nor wise. What all the various activists miss is the reality of American Exceptionalism. As much as the International Political Left hates, and try's to deny, the reality is the USA operates on a completely different political level then the rest of the world. On Sunday, the...

The reason for my apology was that throughout this primary season we have been hearing about the record turnout of voters participating in Democrat caucuses and primaries. I bought the lie. The truth is that, except for Iowa and New Hampshire, there has not been any sort of record turnout for the Democrats. Even in New Hampshire the vote was far less than what the Republicans had when they last had a contested primary in 2000. The Democrats this year had 219,787 votes in their primary. The GOP in 2000 had 239,523 votes. That 20,000 difference is major in a...

http://newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/3/6/121052.shtml Well isn't this intresting. The "objective news media" supposed 9-11 surviors protesting Bush's ads are actually anti-war stooges financed by John Kerry's wife. Please take a moment and vist the New York Times, Washington Post, MSNBC, CBS, NBC and ABC etc to email the Omsbudsman, the Publisher, the News Editor and demand to know why they allowed clearly partisan advocates of Kerry's Presidential Campaign were presented on their "News" programs with no reference to their ties to the Kerry camp. We absolutely must demand the "News Media" be held accountable for their free advertising for the Kerry camp.

http://www.georgewbush.com/tvads/ Here is a link to the 1st three Bush Re-election ads. As expected the DNC directed its "Objective News Media" mouthpieces at CNN, NBC, CBS and ABC to generate phoney hysteria about these ads. Compared to the demogagery and lies spread by the Kerry Campaign, Moveon.org and the DNC about Bush for the last 6 months, this is probably the mildest sets of ads that have run so far this political season. Please email this link to every person on you email contact list. We need to get as many people as possible to see these ads. They are...

TARGETED REPUBLICANSThe Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), in its uphill climb to regain control of the House, has targeted four freshman Republicans: Reps. Max Burns of Georgia, Bob Beauprez of Colorado, Mike Rogers of Alabama and Rick Renzi of Arizona. Beauprez, Rogers and Renzi all won narrowly in 2002, with Beauprez squeaking in by only 121 votes in his suburban Denver district. A Colorado Republican redistricting effort to strengthen Beauprez's district was thrown out in court. He now faces a tougher Democrat than he defeated in 2002: Columbine prosecutor Dave Thomas. Burns won by 55 percent in the Augusta, Ga.,...

CO: Battle of Party Switchers? As Ben Nighthorse Campbell inches closer to announcing his bid for re-election to the US Senate in 2004, and as Democrats wait for Denver Mayor Wellington Webb to announce in August whether he will run, attention is turning to other possible Democratic challengers. This article identifies two second-tier potential challengers -- Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter and University of Colorado Regent Jim Martin. Either or both may defer to a higher profile Democrat, such as Webb or Attorney General Ken Salazar. Ritter's a rarity -- a Democrat who favors abortion restrictions. He's living in the...

DENVER - A brew pub owner who captured the public's fancy with whimsical ads and promises of new ideas won by a large margin Tuesday in the runoff for mayor of Denver. John Hickenlooper had 65 percent of the vote to 35 percent for City Auditor Don Mares. With 99 percent of precincts counted, Hickenlooper led 66,907 votes to 36,424. Hickenlopper will replace Wellington Webb, who is barred by term limits from seeking a fourth term as leader of the nation's 25th largest city. Although the election was nonpartisan, both men are Democrats. Webb didn't endorse anyone. Hickenlooper savored his...

Karl Rove has told Tom Tancredo not to darken the door of the White House again. This is what I love about this President. He is willing to put his foot down and put the lunatic fringe in its place. Well done Karl! Well done Mr. President!

Tuesday was a massacre for the democrats. They had no message and the polling was horrible. I have always been skeptical about polls and it appears that most of the pre-election polls were off. So why did the republicans do so well? George Bush deserves much of the credit, but let's not forget about the great candidates we had. 90% od our candidates were experienced and did well in their debates. The democrats did have a message. It was "no" to whatever being asked. The get nothing done senate was another reason. No bills and no judges were coming out...

The daily tracking polls covering the Allard/Strickland race have taken a strange turn over the last few days. The Rocky Mountain News poll (Talmey-Drake) now shows Allard with a 4 point lead, representing a 8 point swing from late last week. http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/election/article/0,1299,DRMN_36_1511556,00.html The Denver Post poll (Ciruli) has gone in the opposite direction. Allard, up 8 points on October 24 has fallen to a 2 point lead. http://www.ciruli.com/polls/tracking02.htm I have maintained that Ciruli has a better history of accuracy so I am concerned about the GOP decline in his poll. Both polls have shown significant fluctuation (especially for a tracking...

Amend. 31 foes surpass supporters Turnaround in poll dramatic By Julia C. Martinez Denver Post Capitol Bureau Thursday, October 24, 2002 - As political races heat up, voters have cooled to a ballot measure requiring English immersion for non-English-speaking public school students, a survey released Wednesday shows. Meanwhile, with 12 days before the election, races for U.S. Senate and governor remain unchanged, which doesn't bode well for the Democratic candidates in either race, said pollster Floyd Ciruli.Forty-three percent of registered voters now oppose the anti-bilingual-education measure known as Amendment 31, while 37 percent support it, the poll by Ciruli...

<p>A new poll in the 4th Congressional District race shows Republican Marilyn Musgrave winning support from one in five Democrats and extending her overall lead with an 18-percentage-point margin over Democrat Stan Matsunaka. Of the 400 likely voters surveyed in the Ciruli Associates poll, 48 percent favored Musgrave and 31 percent favored Matsunaka. Libertarian candidate John Volz claimed 1 percent, with undecided voters making up 13 percent. The remaining 7 percent of survey respondents are listed as "other," meaning they selected a candidate not on the ballot.</p>

Near tie in race for 7th District Feeley, Beauprez court undecideds By Arthur Kane Denver Post Capitol Bureau Friday, October 18, 2002 - The candidates vying to represent the 7th Congressional District are locked in a virtual dead heat, with both sides seeking to lure the undecided and tune up efforts to get voters to cast ballots. Republican Bob Beauprez had the support of 40 percent, and Democrat Mike Feeley had support from 38 percent of 403 likely voters, according to a Denver Post-9News-KOA poll. Nineteen percent were undecided. Pollster Floyd Ciruli said voters can expect both sides to continue...

Unaffiliated voters 'absolutely cause for concern for Allard' The same independent poll which paints the U.S. Senate race in Colorado as a dead heat contains another set of equally startling numbers. The poll by MSNBC and Zogby International indicates that voters who identify themselves as independent favor Democratic challenger Tom Strickland over incumbent Republican Wayne Allard by 53.7 percent to 25.7 percent."That's an amazing figure, if it's true," said Robert Loevy, professor of political science at Colorado College. "Independent voters shouldn't be that strongly one way or the other this early in the process." The Zogby numbers could be particularly...

Democrat Touts Poll Showing Him Behind A poll taken last month for former state Sen. Mike Feeley (D) showed him trailing former state GOP Chairman Bob Beauprez by 6 points in the competitive new 7th district. The survey of 463 likely voters had Beauprez leading Feeley 39 percent to 33 percent, with 22 percent of respondents undecided. Conducted by Boulder, Colo.-based Harstad Strategic Research LLC, the poll was in the field Aug. 26-29 and had a margin of error of 4.6 percent. Given that this is considered a tossup race, it is unusual that Feeley's campaign would release a three-week-old...

Poll cited, derided Strickland campaign sees tight race; Allard camp says no way By Lynn Bartels, Rocky Mountain News September 13, 2002 Democrat Tom Strickland's latest poll shows he is only 2 percentage points behind Republican Wayne Allard and there is declining support for Allard's job performance. That contrasts with a recent poll by Allard that shows he is leading Strickland by 11 points in the race for U.S. Senate. "The Strickland campaign and their pollster apparently are smoking the same thing," Allard's campaign spokesman, Dick Wadhams, said Thursday. The Strickland poll shows Allard with 38 percent to Strickland's 36...

Found this tidbit in a weekly talking points distributed by the Colorado Republican Committee... According to a poll by the Tarrance Group from August 19-20, Bob Beauprez (GOP) is leading Mike Feeley (DEM) 44% to 36% for Colorado's new 7th CD (no mention of the polls MOE). This is encouraging news given the district went for Gore in 2000 and has equal registration between Republicans and Democrats.

Allard's lead shrinks in poll Republican releases results highlighting Strickland's negatives By Lynn Bartels, Rocky Mountain News August 30, 2002 Republican Sen. Wayne Allard's own polling shows his lead over Democrat Tom Strickland narrowing, but voters' negative opinions of Strickland nearly doubling. Allard leads Strickland 46 percent to 35 percent, according to a poll released Thursday by the Allard U.S. Senate campaign. In an April poll by the same Texas company, Allard led Strickland 49 to 33 percent. Both campaigns put their own spins on the results. Dick Wadhams, Allard's campaign manager, said he was thrilled considering the Strickland campaign...

State Sen. Marilyn Musgrave handily beat Jeff Bedingfield in the Republican primary election late Tuesday, and she quickly got in position for a potentially bitter fight with the Democratic candidate in the general election. “I think tonight is a night when we can all take a deep breath and really celebrate and get ready to take on Stan the tax man,” Musgrave said, referring to Democrat state Sen. Stan Matsunaka, whom she will face in the general election.

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Gray Davis said yesterday that his Republican rival, Bill Simon, can't hide his unpopular views on social issues from voters by changing the subject. "It really doesn't matter what Bill Simon wants to talk about or what Gray Davis wants to talk about. The public owns this election. They're entitled to hear about any issue of importance to them," he said Simon, the Republican nominee for governor, has said that if his opposition to abortion rights comes up he will try to "change the topic," because he believes a governor can do little to alter rights...
