    nbcphiladelphia.com ^ | August 17, 2017 | Alicia Victoria Lozano and Brian X. McCrone
A family heading to Cape May, New Jersey, found themselves in an improbable situation earlier this month when a drawbridge lifted right underneath their car and they were forced to jump the opening. Terence Naphys, after paying the $1.50 toll at the Middle Thorofare Bridge that connects the Wildwoods and Cape May via Ocean Drive, was heading across the bridge when a steel metal grate suddenly lifted 3 to 6 feet underneath his car, Naphys told Lower Township police. Naphys was in the car with his wife, his daughter and his daughter's friend, and he was worried his Toyota RAV4 would fall the...
  • Steyn Blasts Chelsea Clinton: 'If the Confederacy is 'Lucifer', Its Church is (Trunc)

Fox News Tucker Carlson ^ | 18 Aug, 2017 | Tucker Carlson Tonight
Full title:Steyn Blasts Chelsea Clinton: 'If the Confederacy is 'Lucifer', Its Church is the Dem Party' Mark Steyn criticized former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton for what he saw as hypocrisy in her objection to Confederate monuments. Clinton appeared to compare keeping statues erected of Confederates and slaveowners like Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson to a Christian church featuring a Lucifer statue. She said that Lucifer "rebelled against God," but unlike in the formerly-rebellious South, "I've never been in a church with a Lucifer statue." "I don't think she's very sound on the theology or the history," Steyn said....

The chairman and president of the Kennedy Center said they were “grateful for this gesture” after it was announced President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump would not attend the Kennedy Center Honors in December. “The Kennedy Center respects the decision made today by the office of the president of the United States,” chairman David M. Rubenstein and president Deborah F. Rutter said in a joint statement. “In choosing not to participate in this year’s Honors activities, the administration has graciously signaled its respect for the Kennedy Center and ensures the Honors gala remains a deservingly special moment for the...
  • HOW THE CURSE OF TIMUR'S TOMB CHANGED THE COURSE OF WORLD WAR II

--------------------------------SNIP-------------------------- Timur’s Tomb and World War II The “curse” Timur’s Tomb changed the course of the War two times, the first time when Stalin opened it, and the second when he returned the remains to the tomb. Stalin ordered anthropologist and historian Mikhail Gerasimov to open the Timur’s Tomb in 1941. At the time, Gerasimov was a known and popular anthropologist famous for reconstructing a face from a skull. His job was to do that with Timur’s skull, and Mikhail succeeded. Soviets opened the Tomb on June 20, 1942. The tomb was immediately filed with odor of camphor, resin, rose...

    1. The issue that requires repeated emphasis is infiltration. Right-wing groups first get infiltrated, then they get manipulated. The manipulation does harm to their cause, and either destroys the group or totally marginalizes it. Case study: Malheur Wildlife Refuge. This is difficult for many people to take in. For some reason, a lot of liberty-minded people seem to think that if a guy wears a Three Percent t-shirt and owns a bunch of firearms and mouths appropriate slogans, that he is ipso facto one of them. This is not true, especially after a group grows larger and becomes effective. Then...

Yokohama government trash-helper app gives poignant philosophical advice to depressed citizens Scott Wilson Sometimes help can come from where you least expect itÂ… like, REALLY least expect it. Throwing away trash in Japan can be a complicated nightmare. Paper, plastic, glass, burnableÂ… all of them and more have their own days to be put out, and if you miss collection day, then you have to keep the ever-growing pile inside of your house until the next pick-up day for that category, which can be up to a month for more obscure types. To help any confused citizens, the Yokohama City...

The date August 21 may ring a bell for some, especially for Hopkinsville. While covering the eclipse story I uncovered an interesting twist that not only raised my eyebrows, but even the ones of famed movie director Steven Spielberg. It seemed like a horror story for one Kentucky family, the Sutton family. All 11 of them gathered in their house on August 21, 1955. It was just after sunset less than a quarter of a mile down this road in Kelly Kentucky where Mr. Sutton went out to the well. Shortly after that a night of terror began for the...

Bill and Hillary Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, has been spending a lot of time on Twitter during the last year attempting to expound on all manner of topics to show how engaged she is, but her attempt to compare Confederate statues to the worship of the devil did not fare so well. The younger Clinton took to her Twitter account on Thursday to try to mix Biblical themes with Confederate themes, saying, “The story of Lucifer-who rebelled against God-is part of many Christians’ traditions.” Then she added that she never saw a statue of “Lucifer” in a church:

OK! I am getting ready to drive the 200 miles or so south towards Salem/Eugene Oregon. I figured it's also a good time to test my survival skills, somewhat lightly. So far I have packed: three cans of Chef Boyardee, three cans of sardines, two cans of Dinty moore stew. Forks and knives and spoons as well. A garbage bag for the empty cans. My three cameras, well, two cell phones and an older Vivitar camera. I have an extra gallon of gas in my trunk, plus oil and ATF. Anything else? Any hints/tips?

The so-called snitch scandal has led to the retrial of several convicted killers, sparked criticism of Orange County Dist. Atty. Tony Rackauckas and Sheriff Sandra Hutchens and led to a federal investigation. The county’s beleaguered law enforcement leaders received their most stinging rebuke yet on Friday, when Superior Court Judge Thomas Goethals blocked prosecutors from pursuing the death penalty against a man who confessed to slaughtering eight people in a Seal Beach salon, ruling that the county’s mishandling of information regarding informants would prevent a fair trial.

In an interview with MSNBC, Breitbart senior editor Joel Pollak has made clear that Donald Trump can't take his website's support for granted. "If he pulls an Arnold Schwarzenegger and tries to reinvent himself as a liberal, he will see that support erode very, very quickly, and he will struggle politically, I think, to make the case for reelection in 2020," Pollak made the comments after it was announced that former (and now current) Breitbart.com chief Steve Bannon was removed from his position as Trump's Chief Strategist. [VIDEO] There can be little doubt that Pollak is right. From old-school conservatives...

I've been using Samsung Pay on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and I really like it. No real issues until just a couple of days ago when I tried to use it at a Publix store. It didn't work even though I held the phone right over the same spot of the card reader that I normally do. I tried it again and again it didn't work so I ended up pulling out my Debit card and used that. Okay, I figured that maybe there was something wrong with that particular card reader. However, this morning I went to a...

Susan Snyder has been a curator at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum for the past 26 years. She travels the country, and sometimes Europe, meeting with people who have collections of Holocaust artifacts and memorabilia. Last week, she came to Chicago on a collecting trip and took a few minutes to explain to Forward contributor Aimee Levitt what the museum is looking for and what it does with the material it finds. The museum started collecting before it was built. The first collections came in 1984, but they didn’t start building till 1988. In 1989, it put ads in...
