  • Obama defends Biden on 'chains' remark, dismisses Palin's Clinton suggestion (Psych!)

President Obama defended Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday against criticism of his remarks that Republican repeal of Wall Street regulations would put voters "back in chains." Obama also brushed off Sarah Palin's suggestion on Fox News that he drop Biden from the ticket in favor of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee and a Fox News contributor, had said Biden's comments are the latest example of how he "really drags down that ticket."(continued)
  • The Most Divisive Campaign in American History

In 1980, when President Reagan asked Americans, "Are you better off now than you were four years ago", it was still possible to campaign on a theme as simple as the job performance of the other guy. But now, 32 years later, the campaign hinges on a much more fundamental split among the voting population. Romney appeals to voters who are dissatisfied with the last four years. Obama appeals to voters who are dissatisfied with America. This basic gap was obscured in the 2008 campaign by the window trappings of inspiration. Among all the plastic pillars and stolen quotes from...

As the Biden-Clinton chatter swirls, best-selling author Edward Klein says the White House has “put out feelers” to the Clinton camp about the veep spot. Here’s the transcript from CNBC’s The Kudlow Report: KLEIN: Larry, just before we went on the air tonight, I checked with my sources in the Clinton camp and I took notes because I want to be careful. And here is what they told me: Up until just a couple of weeks ago, the White House was putting out feelers to see if Hillary would accept the vice-presidential nod and replace Joe Biden. Bill Clinton was,...
  • Why Ryan Terrifies The Left

Paul Ryan terrifies the American Left. Which precisely explains the tones of hysteria coming from the Obama White House. The real question is why the Chicago Thugs have suffered such a public meltdown over Mitt Romney's choice of the young Wisconsin Congressman to be his vice-presidential running mate. And there is an answer. Three specific answers, actually. • Ronald Reagan: President Reagan today is an American hero. Poll after poll has Americans placing him in the pantheon of great American presidents, and occasionally at the top of the list. The admiration for Reagan has become such a part of...

A potentially large change of events as former Virginia Governor Doug Wilder appeared at a Romney fundraiser today. This came after his criticism of Joe Biden for his "chains" comments the other day. According to Pajamas Media, Wilder (D-VA) was a surprise guest and was introduced by current Governor Bob McDonnell at the fundraiser in Richmond, VA. Wilder had said that slavery was not something for Biden to joke about:
  • Sharpton Says Biden's 'Chains' Remark Possibly 'Over the Top' - Then Reverts to Apologist

For a hot minute, it looked like Joe Biden might have lost Al Sharpton. And just as quickly, Sharpton returned to the fold. Biden has another possible entry to Bartlett's Familiar Quotations, along with his open-mic boast to President Obama in 2010 that passage of Obamacare was "a big f***ing deal." (audio clip after page break) That time Biden was vulgar. This time he was obscene. Speaking before a largely black audience in Danville, Va., on Tuesday, Biden said this -- (Romney) said in the first 100 days, he's going to let the big banks once again write their own...
  • CNN's O'Brien Continues Challenging Attempt to Spin Away 'Chains' Controversy

Cable News Network host Soledad O'Brien has clashed often with conservative guests on her program, but on Thursday, she pressed the liberal chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus when he tried to dismiss Vice President Joe Biden's comment that Republicans wanted to "put y’all back in chains." During that morning's edition of the Starting Point program, O'Brien showed a clip of Biden's remarks, from his campaign stop in Danville, Virginia, then asked Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) what he thought about his fellow Democrat's comments. The scandal-plagued congressman responded succinctly: “Absolutely nothing.” “I would never have even paid attention to it...

Ample rebuttal has been served against President Obama’s “You didn’t build that!” claim. Obama retreated, but then recently insinuated “Romney-Hood” will help the rich rob the poor via tax breaks and describes Paul Ryan’s budget proposal as “thinly veiled Social-Darwinism.” As absurd as these ideas sound, crowds cheered. We’re not witnessing rival visions offering different paths to similar ends. The gulf extends beyond whether borrowing and spending better ushers prosperity as opposed to saving and producing; aggregate demand maintenance versus supply-side economics. It’s deeper. A widening political divide besets America. The sides not only propose competing, even contradictory methods, Left...
