You can tell the media think they’ve got it. The smoking gun. The story that will tar anti-Obamacare protesters as crazy. The story that will—finally!—reverse the current trends in health-care-reform public opinion. You can tell, because this guy:protester_1464203c is everywhere. Last night, he was the center of a smear piece by CNN’s Campbell Brown. He showed up on Anderson Cooper 360 as well. At that time, we thought it was just a cable-news story, one more in a seemingly endless series of breathless stories about those angry, rabid right-wingers (who actually represent the majority of Americans, but never mind that!)...

The newbie shooter can become familiar with the operation and feel of his/her weapon without the distraction of flash or recoil or audible concussion. Long arms can be taught just as well with the aid of a device called a chamber insert. It is little more than a precisely milled tube in the dimensions of a .308 cartridge that is sized to accept .32 pistol cartridges inside. The assembly of pistol cartridge and .308 insert is then chambered in any .308 rifle.

Bring this guy in for a beer, like you brought the other guy who was whining about the Police and how mean they were.

Authorities announced charges Thursday against a Mexican gang that took Tijuana-style violence to the upscale suburbs of San Diego County, kidnapping, torturing and killing well-to-do residents, even after some families paid large ransoms. The gang, a rogue cell of the Tijuana-based Arellano Felix drug cartel, moved across the border in 2002 and posed as U.S. law enforcement, donning FBI and police uniforms and caps while snatching victims outside homes and public places, said San Diego County prosecutors. Nine victims were killed from 2004 to 2007, and the bodies of two of them were dissolved in chemicals at a rented house...

Family in tow for a tour of national treasures far from Washington, President Barack Obama is trailed by criticism from gun opponents and parks advocates for allowing firearms into such majestic places as this. "There is still time for Congress and the president to take steps to keep loaded firearms away from the valleys of Yellowstone, the cliffs of Yosemite, and the Statue of Liberty _ but they need to act quickly," said Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. A bill that Obama signed in May permits licensed gun owners to bring firearms into national...

The United States Senate recently voted on an amendment that would have allowed Right-to-Carry permit holders to carry in all other states that also grant carry permits. The amendment, sponsored by Sens. John Thune (R-S.D.) and David Vitter (R-La.), won a significant majority of votes, 58 to 39, but failed to reach the 60 votes needed to avoid a Senate filibuster. Anti-gun senators have long argued that the majority of Americans do not support firearm freedoms. They made this erroneous claim once again during the debate on the Thune/Vitter amendment. Now, a new poll has proven them wrong. Conducted by...

LOS ANGELES (CNS)- A person possibly suspected of threatening the White House led police on a chase from Westchester to West Los Angeles today then holed up inside a car near the Westwood federal building, prompting a standoff that forced the evacuation of a nearby apartment building. Citing an anonymous law enforcement official, the Los Angeles Times reported on its Web site that the person was wanted for questioning by federal authorities for allegedly making an unspecified threat against the White House. Broadcast reports also indicated that the person may have been wanted on a misdemeanor warrant.

A 72-year-old Harlem business owner turned Bernie Goetz on four would-be robbers this afternoon, pulling a pump-action shot gun from beneath his desk and opening fire, killing two and wounding the others, cops said. The four men barged into Kaplan Bros. Blue Flame Corp. -- a restaurant supply company at 523 W. 125th St. -- around 3 p.m. and one of them pulled out a handgun and began pistol whipping an employee. That prompted the owner to pull out the 12-gauge shotgun and fire three shots, striking all four men, cops said. The four robbers ran, but two collapsed to...

An article recently appeared in The Tennessean reporting on that state's experience one month after the passage of legislation allowing those citizens with concealed carry licenses to bring their firearms with them into restaurants that serve alcohol provided they do not drink. After Tennessee passed the law, it was challenged and upheld on court. Opponents of the bill predicted mayhem. "We apparently are going to have 225,000 vigilantes shooting in bars," said David Smith, one of the attorneys for the opposition. Of course, nothing of the sort actually occurred. The same thing happens every time a piece of pro-gun legislation...

A friend of mine recently forwarded me a question a friend of his had posed: "If/when our Federal Government comes to pilfer, pillage, plunder our property and destroy our lives, what good can a handgun do against an army with advanced weaponry, tanks, missiles, planes, or whatever else they might have at their disposal to achieve their nefarious goals? Bigotry assumes many forms, hides behind many facades, but always it is the same; the social demonization of entire groups, classes or races of people in an effort to make them appear inferior and detrimental by their very existence. In the wake of a nasty multiple shooting at a Pittsburgh, PA-area fitness club by a not-so-clearly psychotic man identified as George Sodini, America’s gun prohibitionists – led by the Violence Policy Center and Freedom States Alliance – are clamoring for restrictions or repeal of concealed carry statutes. In the case against legally-armed citizens, the VPC has even manufactured an innuendo-riddled...

"You know you're wrong for that poster, right?" The lady asked, eyeing Representative Bobby Rush's face under the prominent words "I Sold Out to White Politicians . . . ." It didn't surprise Illinois Carry representative "Dr. G" that she took offense; the poster is obviously meant to be too provocative to ignore. What's surprising, he says, is the number of people at a Chicago event who made a point of signing his petition for concealed carry reform. He wasn't at a gun show or a gun-rights rally, after all. For only the second year, Illinois gun rights groups including...

Bradley County Sheriff Tim Gobble... who has also declared his candidacy for a Tennessee U.S. House in 2010... says he supports guns in parks. In a written statement Sheriff Gobble said, "On Monday, the Bradley County Commission will vote on whether or not law abiding citizens with valid gun permits will be allowed to carry firearms in local parks, natural areas, historic areas, nature trails, campgrounds, forests, greenways, waterways and other such public areas. Yesterday (30 July, 2009), a friend of mine who is in the Wisconsin State Patrol noticed a motocyclist parked on the shoulder of the a highway in northern Wisconsin. The motorcyclist had a pistol in a holster on his hip. Realizing the potential danger that the motorcyclist was in, the trooper stopped to assist. He approached the motorcyclist and notified him that he (the motorcyclist) was legally open carrying. He then asked if he was aware of Wisconsin firearms laws. The motorcyclist had a State of Michigan CCW permit, and thought that it was accepted in Wisconsin. The trooper explained...

What's troublesome about gun nuts in this country isn't so much that they want to play with firearms and wear them on their hips with almost no restrictions. It's that many feel they have the God-given right to end every conflict with a bullet, or three. There's often implied cowardice that goes along with all the righteous handgun-totin'. Way too often, sidearms are worn by craven men with chips on their shoulders, itching for a fight they don't have to resolve with their fists. Take the case of Harold Fish, the ex-Tolleson high school teacher convicted of second-degree murder by...

Like America's first soldiers at the Battle of Brooklyn, Michael Littlejohn is fighting for his right to bear arms. Earlier this week, Senator John Thune offered a Concealed Carry Amendment to the Defense Authorization Bill. Today, the Senator issued the following statement after his bipartisan amendment allowing individuals to lawfully carry concealed firearms across state lines under the condition that the laws of the host state are obeyed was defeated by a vote of 58 to 39: "Today, overheated rhetoric and fearmongering overcame common sense. My amendment would allow responsible firearms owners to protect themselves while obeying the firearms laws of the states they visit. The individual right to self-defense should not end at the state line. Despite today's...

WASHINGTON -- Out-of-staters visiting New York could be allowed to legally carry concealed firearms under a measure up for debate in the Senate today. New York Sen. Charles Schumer, a Democrat, said yesterday he would pull out all the stops to kill the amendment, calling the proposal "simply appalling." The legislation, offered by South Dakota Republican John Thune, would allow gun owners to carry their weapons across state lines if they have a valid permit in their home state. The amendment is considered unlikely to pass.

If you needed any proof our academic elites are completely out of touch with reality, you would be hard pressed to find a better example than this. The ATF - as expected - has issued a letter in which it disregards the 10th Amendment restrictions on federal power (as seems to be the trend since the late 1930) and has notified Tennessee’s federal firearms dealers that the Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act is meaningless. Essentially, ATF is saying to the state of Tennessee that the 10th Amendment no longer exists. We expected such from a tyranny that no longer lives within the bounds of its express authority…

When Debra Monce went into the bathroom stall of the Clarion Hotel in Tampa last Friday and sat down to conduct one of life’s biological functions, she certainly didn’t mean to hurt anyone. That said, when she squatted the small-caliber handgun she was carrying fell out of its holster, hit the ground, and went off. The single bullet went into the next stall. Janifer Bliss — ironically at the hotel for a women’s health conference — was hit by the bullet in the lower leg. Monce, who has a concealed carry permit, now faces the possibility of being charged by...

Bill Would Force New Jersey to Allow Concealed Carrying of Handguns in Public Even By Dangerous People Barred By State Law From Possessing Guns It appears the NRA may prevail this week upon US Senate leadership to attach an extremely dangerous amendment to a 'must pass' underlying bill. This could happen as soon as today. Said amendment/bill, S.845, which has the intentionally misleading title of the 'Respecting States Rights and Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2009,' would force our state to allow holders of permits to carry concealed handguns in public (CCW) from other states to carry concealed in NJ,...

A Papa John’s pizza delivery man shot and wounded a 17-year-old who called in a pizza order and then robbed him at a vacant house with a fake handgun, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said. It was the second time in recent months that a pizza delivery man in Lexington County has shot someone trying to rob him. The other incident was March 7, when a Pizza Hut delivery man shot and...

Every July 4, we retreat to fireworks, feast and festival in celebration of an independence that is rapidly becoming little more than a memory. Our ancestors declared their independence in 1776 from a tyrannical, overbearing government. The independence claimed by the authors of the U.S. Constitution helped them create a government expressly prohibited from becoming tyrannical and overbearing, by limiting its power to certain enumerated responsibilities. Those limitations have long been ignored, and the current government makes no apology for its overbearing tyranny. Just as American independence was foreshadowed by a tea party in Boston, America’s new independence is foreshadowed...

BELEN, N.M. -- A Belen man is facing murder charges after deputies said he chased down two burglary suspects and then shot and killed one of them. A 62-year-old retired schoolteacher who shot and killed a Payson man four years ago at a trailhead north of Strawberry is getting a new trial. The court also ruled that the three dogs the victim, Grant Kuenzli, had with him could have been classified as “dangerous instruments” as defense attorney Melvin McDonald asked. Deborah Fish,...

The secret government “Terrorist Watch List,” reportedly already swelled to more than 1.1 million names, will have an addendum, if gun control advocates in Congress have their way. This new addendum — also to be cloaked in secrecy — would empower the U.S. Attorney General to deny a person the ability to exercise their Second Amendment rights to purchase a firearm. While it is not surprising that some members of Congress are again using fear of terrorism to implement a gun-control agenda, the openly unconstitutional legislative language proponents are employing is troubling. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) is leading the effort...

The inability to provide pithy summaries of their position frequently plague Conservatives and Libertarians in their endless verbal jousts with people of the Bolshevik Persuasion. Old school Editorial Commentator George Will provides us one of the best arguments to say “No” I have heard in quite some time. In short, to say “No”to mischief and inanity is both Constitutional and necessary and people who do so should be proud of their outlook and position. Thank You George Will! Say No And Be Proud!
