John McCain may be the underdog in the presidential race but you wouldn’t know it from his campaign’s bold stance on energy policy. Last week, McCain pledged to end the 1982 moratorium on offshore gas and oil drilling in the continental United States. This axiom would make the Democrats, to any extent that they are relatively free of corruption, only so because they are not currently in power themselves. Tom DeLay and other Republicans have abused their ability to pass basically whatever legislation they want.
