Prominent Detroit synagogue president Samantha Woll has been found dead outside of her home, police said. Her body was found with multiple stab wounds early Saturday morning, along with a trail of blood that led from the suspected crime scene to Woll's home, the Detroit Free Press reported. Vice-admiral Scott Stearney, the head of US navy operations in the Middle East, has been found dead in Bahrain, with the military saying no foul play is suspected. Stearney was found dead on Saturday at his residence in the Gulf country. A 'Blue Wave' it wasn’t; a blue ripple, at most. Despite spending over one billion dollars, more money than ever before for a midterm election, and even though they were confident of crushing a historically unpopular president, Democrats appear to have mustered only a slim majority in the House, while not even coming close to taking over the Senate. Their win in the House seems at best to have been in line with historical averages; they had expected more. Admittedly, Democrats had a tough map to defend, including 10 Senate seats in states won decisively by President Trump in 2016....

While Tuesday night was not a complete win for Republicans, there was no blue wave, either. By most measures, Republicans beat the odds of history and nearly everyone’s expectations, while Democrats were left disappointed as the fantasy of Beto O’Rourke, Andrew Gillum, Stacey Abrams and others winning fizzled. Not one new progressive Democrat was successful bursting onto the scene. It will take a few days to process the meaning of this year’s election returns, but the instant analysis is clear: Democrats may have won the House, but Trump won the election.
