    Not that you’d know it from listening to the Republican candidate for president of the United States;
    “Mitt Romney:

    I am not a scientist myself, but my best assessment of the data is that the world is getting warmer, that human activity contributes to that warming, and that policymakers should therefore consider the risk of negative consequences.”

    What does that communist monster have over Roberts though! Roberts has made some very good, patriotic decisions and then this happens! Kim J-obama Il must have gotten something to use against him Holder and his cronies must have pulled something very, very bad and personally damaging to Roberts family or loved ones to force this kind of horrible, destructive, Maoist decision out of him. We may never know because if Dear Leader is re-elected he’l purge records AND people!!!

    Terrorist funding comes from oil producing countries in the middle east, why on earth WOULDN’T we expect our own facilities to be attacked! Why do we let people who practice this insane ideology (islam) walk our streets!!!!! They aren’t a part of this country because they follow their laws first and THEN the constitution. Their loyalty is NOT to our country it’s to THEIR IDEOLOGY. Then, when they see a target that helps them and hurts us they TAKE IT OUT.

    Other articles on this atrocity mention that there was physical evidence that he tried to kill himself and failed. The interview with the police didn’t mention that but I had to stop listening when they were describing the location of the bodies as I have kids right around that age.

    He apparently had serious money stress and serious issues in his marriage and he was depressed, on meds and in therapy for it. None of that validates killing your whole family over anything. Since he’s still alive we will learn more but lets keep the conspiracies to a minimum till we actually do, ok?

    Your post centers around privatizing libraries but I see absolutely no problem with that. If a community values a library then they can seek out funders - or donors as you mention - and create one that contains exactly what their community wants! Local businesses that see value in, say, providing internet service there, that include their advertising and allows them to address their local target users makes perfect sense to me.

    Why do you have a problem with simply letting market forces provide the services a community is interested in?

    Local citizens organizations are perfectly capable of identifying their own needs and identifying businesses that can supply them and also profit in the supply. In fact community standards are much easier to maintain when the community itself has control of what their members are exposed to - which is a problem with liberal run schools that indoctrinate rather than teach. A publicly run and publicly stocked library simply allows the liberals to provide their material and suppress ours!

    This is a great opportunity for Colorado Springs to show the rest of the country how it’s done.

    Sarah’s success reminds me that some of the lib “strategy 2012” posts I’ve read may not be so far fetched. The general idea is that BigO knows that he can’t win against Sarah given his track record of incompetence, corruption and how he’s bankrupted our country.

    The only opposition the left has who hasn’t been a huge part in this health care fiasco is Hillary Clinton (notice how quiet she and her ilk have been since the election?). The left thinks that Hillary will play well in the press (HA!!!!) verses Sarah and the deal is made to have BigO withdraw in the primary and throw in his support for Hillary. He’s then paid off with the VP slot to keep all of his supporters on board the socialist train to hell.

    I thought that the whole idea was incredibly short sighted given BigO’s huge ego but the more success Sarah has on her own, the more this makes a twisted sort of sense to me. He doesn’t want to be a one term president so he hides out as Hillary’s VP for as many years as she lasts and then resumes command.

    What would this country look like after 4 years of BigO, 8 years of Hillary, then 4 more of Obama? Noplace I want to live!

    Infectious causes of cancer and their detection Lucy Dalton-Griffin1 email and Paul Kellam1,2 1Department of Infection, University College London, Cleveland Street, London W1T 4JF, UK 2The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, The Wellcome Trust Genome Campus, Hinxton, Cambridge CB10 1SA, UK Journal of Biology 2009, 8:67doi:10.1186/jbiol168 The electronic version of this article is the complete one and can be found online at: http://jbiol.com/content/8/7/67 Published: 11 August 2009 "Oncogenesis can occur through virus-induced transformation. This is due to the persistence of the viral genome in a latent form in an infected cell, either without replication, as with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), which infects B lymphocytes, or through integration of the viral genome into a host-cell chromosome, as with human papillomavirus (HPV), the cause of cervical cancer. EBV is frequently detected in childhood Burkitt's lymphoma, post-transplant B-cell lymphomas, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and nasopharyngeal carcinoma [1]. The transforming capability of this virus is exemplified further by its ability to transform resting B cells in vitro at high efficiency to obtain stable proliferating lymphoblastoid cell lines. This process is driven by EBV-encoded latent proteins that directly promote cell growth and survival – for example, lymphocyte membrane-associated protein-1 (LMP-1)." Your second point that treatment doesn't cure the cancer isn't applicable after the virus initiates oncogenesis is it? Once the malignant cells are proliferating they are passing virus along as well (given it integrated with the genome like HPV does). Hence the use of vaccines; stop it before it starts right (primary prevention) verses treatment (secondary prevention)?

    I hope I’ve shown that at least in some cases, viruses cause cancer. I think that there are perfectly valid questions concerning vaccines brought to the market too rapidly though. H1N1 may be an example of that. That said, the cervical cancer vaccine covers all of the important viral types and should be considered for use.

    That was 1975, this article updates that opinion to the state of the art in 2007;

    http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pubmed&pubmedid=17940621

    where it concludes that;

    “The viruses reviewed here illustrate the diverse biological pathways to malignancy and the challenges of treating the resulting diseases. Yet the presence of the viral gene products in cancer and precancerous cells present attractive targets that may be exploited in novel therapies that distinguish these cells from normal cells. Antivirals such as lamuvidine used in heptatitis B and ganciclovir for Kaposi sarcoma specifically target the viral replication machinery. Targeting cancer cells specifically would have advantages over traditional modalities such as chemotherapy and radiation, which can include significant toxicities. Cervical cancer, because it retains HPV viral oncoproteins E6 and E7 and requires their continued expression for proliferation, provides an ideal model for cytotoxic immune therapies against these known antigens.”

    Some viruses cause some cancers.

    “Simple: viruses do not cause cancer. If viruses caused cancer, the population of the US would be about 20 million.”

    You know that all viruses aren’t the same right? If all viruses caused cancer and that cancer was deadly then the US population wouldn’t be 20 million, it would be 0 wouldn’t it?

    Could you pass on a link or something backing up that statement? Just trying to compare what you base your statement on to what I see online!

    Could you explain what you mean please? When I read this stuff;

    International Journal of Cancer
    ISSN: 1097-0215 (Online)
    ISSN: 0020-7136 (Print)

    Volume 111, Issue 2, 2004.
    Pages: 278-285

    quote:

    In conclusion, a vaccine containing the 7 most common HPV types would prevent about 87% of cervical cancers worldwide, with little regional variation.

    http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/...66144/HTMLSTART

    it appears to be saying that it’s more than just possible to create a vaccine for a cancer that’s caused by a virus, it’s probably about the best possible plan.

    So exactly what is your disagreement with cancer vaccines?
