This does us no good - the sentence is taken out of context and indicates that if an employee comes out to you, that the employee is apt to take silence as a sign of disapproval.

While it's likely to morph over a period of time, at this juncture, it's probably an accurate statement whether one can stomach homosexuals becoming more overt or not. It is not a threat to managers as it shows up in the pamphlet.

Illegal transportation of a corpse. She was right to stop the vehicle.

??? Seems like it would have made more sense to "illegally transport the corpse" to the nearest hospital. Do you have info regarding the comment and the law or was it intended as one where the "/sarc" did not seem necessary?

Doesn’t bode well for our side - if folks are able to be so handily squelched, they have won and it’s only going to get worse. Even SCOTUS is loath to upset the apple cart and nobody is willing to “put the country through the agony of a real government shakeup”. Without using the strongarm tactics of the Left, we are doomed to continue the slide towards tyranny. Lots of folks talk, but getting the gumption to take real action is problematic.

Yeah, just because he ran over people for 100 feet before he stopped is no reason to assume a guy in his 80’s has no business driving. What ever was I thinking?

I never said he should still be driving - I just refuse to insult and make fun of those who suffer the ravages of old age. Not enough in the story to say if he had a history - sometimes an older person will be perfectly hale and healthy and able to drive and have a pretty quick slump into infirmity. I pray for you and me that if/when the time comes that our bodies and facilities fail us, we have someone who loves us to "wean us from our freedom of mobility". May we both age slowly and gracefully and not make fools of ourselves by trying to cling to our independence to the point we become hazards.

I once had a young "woman" make snide remarks when I opened a door for her. I asked her if maybe I should let her open the door for me. She said I could shove it because she wouldn't do that. I then told her that it was a good thing I was willing to open it or we'd both be stuck outside together and enough of her mouth would cause me to break a cardinal rule about hitting the weaker sex. If Elizabeth is still aMormon, she is not a Christian and has not been saved. I know Mormons believe in some weird sort of unbiblical universal salvation. But only those who place their faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ are saved. There is no other gospel (Galatians1). All the rest are false and will lead to hell, the great white throne of judgment and the lake of fire.(Revelation 20)

Unknown quantities and not for us to judge. I can't figure out why so many are so dang concerned with the souls of the Romneys and not so concerned about the sold they can reach with the Word. For all we know, the whole Romney clan, and even a whole bunch of Mormons, have acknowledged Christ as Lord and Savior and are as saved as the rest of us who either belong to more "traditional" religions (over 32K sects of Christianity and some of them are real doozies) or even non-denominational. I have heard Romney acknowledge Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and have no reason to not believe him. I got away from religion because it has so many ways to obfuscate the Word by mixing in a few thousand canons, doctrines, rites, ceremonies, etc., that it really whittles away at the pure carrying of the good news of the Gospels and the New Covenant. The Bible will not make me a theologian, but it carries ample Word to bring me to Christ.

There are a number of "universalist" Christian religions out there and we will never truly know until He comes back. Even the Rapture and its timing have not become "settled science" among all theologians - it makes no difference because it will be what it will be as He spoke it and all we can do is try to be prepared and to carry the Word that others can be prepared too. Carrying the Word itself is much more effective than leaving it out of the equation and just slamming the religions one doesn't like - I don't like any of them and consider them to be purveyors of sinfulness because so many get so caught up in the religion that they start to miss the MESSAGE. I won't go on a crusade against any religion (I love conversations though) because even the worst of the Christian religious sects has undoubtedly reached some souls with the message they needed to hear.

Prior to AA allowing Gays having their own AA meetings, there were meetings called Älcholics Together”. They were for homosexual who wanted to give up drinking, but didn’t want to give up their sinful lifestyle.

Let's posit that you are heterosexual. What sinfulness is there in your own life? Or do you have the hubris to believe you are any more without sin than a homosexual who has accepted Christ but still struggles with the flesh? The wages of sin (ALL SIN) is death and Christ died for ALL of us - even the homosexuals. I've known homosexuals in the rooms who have slowly come to the understanding that they had a special battle with themselves and their struggles were no different than the guy in the Bible who lamented that he did that which he would not do and did not that which he would do (surely you're aware of the fact that even the original followers were not without some serious faults). Don't be such a hypocrite unless you are truly worthy of casting that first stone. You seem to be trying to come from some high and mighty Christian point of view but you are sorely mistaken in your own worthiness if you really believe it. If you truly are a Christian, your job is to carry the word so that those most in need of hearing it are able to hear and accept it. If you try to decide that certain folks should be excluded from the deal, try remembering how Jonah felt and how that ended up - God INSISTED that he show up to give even the basest of people the opportunity to be ministered to.

Dude - you must be a true zealot to make such a leap as to say they are being pro-homosexual. The know the barriers that can keep people from seeking out the help they need and, in true AA form are trying to help break down the barriers. Talking to you reminds me of a story where a guy moves to a new town that contains a church with so many rules that he cannot attain membership. he is praying and lamenting about it when God speaks to him and asks what the problem is. he explains how he cannot get into the church and asks what he should do. God tells him, "Don't let your heart be troubled; they won't let Me in either".

Your apparent crusade appears to have no positive endgame - of what value is it?

There are MANY gay AA meetings. Not many Christians ones. I once tried to start a Christian AA meeting in the Inland Empire of Southern California, and was told “we dont want Christ mentioned at meetings”. They wouldn’t allow the meeting to be published in the directory.

AA is based on Biblical and Christian Principles - if individual groups decide to exclude such, I doubt the groups will do much good. I have had folks gripe about my using Jesus' name in a meeting - I told them that He is my higher power and I'll describe Him as such. I also use dthe opportunity to let them know that the Lord's Prayer that closes most AA meetings started when some men said, "Master, teach us to pray as you do" and He told them, "When you do it, do it like this - Our Father, which art in Heaven...". It caused a few extra "moments of silence". They will only chase God out if the rest allow it - folks with experience and grounding should find it incumbent on themselves to lovingly (I stress the word "lovingly") explain things in terms that helps make it clear.

Perhaps you actually tried to convert an existing AA house to go the Christian theme - if you want to start a Christian meeting, do it the old-fashioned way and start small and if it grows, make your own arrangements to provide a meeting place and a coffee pot. I prefer to inhabit meetings where all the sinners are welcome because they provide a window into my own imperfect existence and give me opportunities to spread the Word to those who need to hear it - not just to those who already believe. I find it selfish and self-centered (recognize the phrase?) to try to mold something to suit yourself at the exclusion of possibly doing good for others. Next thing you might want to have a meeting that only allows folks with 5 years or more so they can pat each other on the back.

AA’s primary purpose is to members from drinking. Currently gay meetings are held separate from the main group. Their meetings are identified as gay meetings and often times closed to others. There are Christian meetings as well. AA doesn’t endorse other groups and so far there isn’t a gay agenda at the open meetings. Gays have lots of problems, and they appear to be much more prone to substance abuse. AA is the best thing for keeping sober and gays benefit from the program like everybody else. The only concern is that gays will become more vocal and turn the entire organization into a gay support group. They could destroy AA as easily as they have destroyed other institutions such as the Catholic Church, marriage and soon the Boy Scouts.

Heck - they also have atheist meetings for those who want to try it sans-God. I have no problem because it still gives folks a chance to experience His love and to maybe reconsider...

I used to worry about the "purity" of AA being compromised to the point it was destroyed. Came to the conclusion that if God is in it, it cannot be destroyed. if God is excluded, it cannot stand. I leave it in His hands.

What purpose to your post?: To raise awareness. I have no problem with Gays being allowed to attend AA. I do object to AA endorsing the gay lifestye, albeit subtly. I know that AA’s are loathe to admit that is so. If they did, they might have to speak up about it, and be ostracized as a result.

If by "endorsing the gay lifestyle (I prefer the term homosexuality)", you mean that the lack of condemnation of those who practice it, you miss the whole point of AA. Your unspoken suggestion, that AA ought to ostracize those with moral issues that you can't abide by, would help destroy AA and the good it does. Do you have someone who you respect and trust enough to discuss things with or are you relying solely on your own inner thoughts - remember that The Mind is a Terrible Thing?
