It's poor planning on the photographer's part, and the teacher wasn't much help.

No, he didn't have to be the center of attention with a big "group hug" about him, but there shouldn't be such a gap. This could easily have been fixed by having the teacher on the right side of the photo instead of the left, and having the kids shift down that way.

Of course, that would require moving the camera, and those guys set up once at the beginning and that's the end of it.

But "mama drama" aside, it's a terribly composed picture.

She should tour the rest of the Middle East with that message.

Never saw that film, but I heard the Lux Radio Theater adaptation a few years back. When I first got onto the Internet in 93-ish, I was constantly scouring the newsgroups for OTR: old-time radio shows, after one of those discount store chains starting selling random cassettes.

Surprisingly few? Not surprising at all.

The only surprising thing is that this was in the Times and written by a woman. We live in a world where adopted children can break into sealed records and then sue the biological parents for support. Where test tube children can track down sperm donors and demand money.

It’s like my problem with “hate crimes”. If you beat someone to death, yeah, I’m pretty sure that “hate” was a factor. I don’t care what the cause of the “hate” was or anything else that was (or wasn’t) going through your mind nor what came out of your mouth.

They’re still pricing themselves out of business. There isn’t enough tourism, and tourism itself is seasonal. The ones that come either get tickets to a “hit show” when they book their hotel or they stand around the half-price ticket booth trying to find something to see, but I don’t many are seeing more than one show. (Obvious exception would be those who come to NYC specifically for the theater, but that wouldn’t be most tourists.)

According to twitchy.com, Melissa Gilbert blamed it all on the NRA, but that’s about all I’ve seen so far.

Broadway is pricing itself out of business, and they aren't helping matters any by not being more family-friendly. (Aside: at they had Matilda and Cinderella, but let's face it, families can't really afford Broadway any more.)

TV is dying, but at least there's DVDs and syndication to prop up profits. Many of these big musicals can't be scaled down for regional theaters and forget about high school productions.

They say it's more "inclusive" but really they're becoming more "insiders only".

I need to find out what happened to the copy of How the Irish Saved Civilization that I bought my father. (Or, you know, just buy my own copy.)

Hard to believe that I now live in a world where people who think grown men marching down the street in diapers are “brave” but science buffs dressed as Spock are “weirdos” are themselves considered normal and average, mostly by like-thinking idiots.

We rented to my wife’s sister and BIL until they were able to afford their own home. Then we converted to a one-family. We never wanted to be landlords and wouldn’t gotten this two family house if it hadn’t been for a couple of things that fell into place.

I didn’t notice him either, but they didn’t have much to work with. OTOH, if you remember the Next Doctor, Jackson Lake had a memory stick (whatever they were called) with information about the Doctor, and Paul McGann was included. Ditto for the quick clips in Matt Smith’s first show.
