and the retired vets should be able to use it

it is people who served once and who are in most cases working elsewhere who are overloading a system not designed for that many people
PLUS are making it hard for the combat vets who still need care

We are NOT treating our vets as they should be

But to be fair to the VA Much of the problem is VA care is open to anyone who ever served, even those who served 3 years or less and never left stateside.

The VA used to be for the purpose of treating people who served in combat and perhaps who served 20 years and lived near a NA facility
Clinton changed all that when he opened it to anyone who ever serve BUT did not increase the budget.

here is one example
I was in the waiting room when a coupe, came in and started complaining about the care. Their 26 y o son, who served 2.5 years in the navy in san diego was getting his leg repaired that he hurt skiing in Wash state.
They complained about the care he received at the Seattle facility so they flew him home to this facility
and then complained because he had to wait a month for the surgery and IIRC correctly the operation was costing them a couple of hundred.
They even said they thought of taking him to a private Dr
well why didn’t they?
In the meantime he was taking operating and rehab time from a combat vet with a severed leg

In Feb 2011 Cruz was unknown in Texas. he travelled the state over and over in a car getting his message out. People responded to his message and his grass roots organization, run primarily by volunteers made sure people knew who he was and would VOTE.

It is amazing to think HE will now be someone whose opinion and support others will look for.
