The US is starved for computer chips. In response, TI is building a new chip plant in Sherman, TX, and Samsung has announced a chip plant in Taylor, TX, which is a suburb of Austin. It will take a while to get the plants up and running, but it is a great sign of companies seeing that it is no longer profitable to rely on an Asian provider of products.

Port of Galveston flooded today, and the bus delivering the cruise ship passengers from the parking area abandoned the passengers several blocks from the cruise terminal. A KHOU reporter down doing a report on the flooding saw a 71 year old woman struggling to get to the ship, took her bag and escorted her through the flooded streets to make her cruise. Use Sneakernet first. Any 3rd party inexpensive networking software or work-arounds that can solve a small office computing networking issue?
