As of 3:35 PM local time in Moscow, Idaho, the 2014 Idaho Republican Convention is history. And what a piece of history it is! The fireworks started a couple weeks prior to the convention, in events surrounding reorganizational meetings for county Republican Central Committees throughout the state. These are meetings in which officers are elected; sometimes the old ones are reelected, sometimes new ones are elected. Also at these reorg meetings delegates for the convention are elected. Operative word, "elected." This year, there were abnormalities in three counties that drew complaints that were subsequently handed off to the Credentials Committee...

Ward worked for Democrats in Idaho and Virginia, says IdahoReporter.com Submitted by Dan Popkey on Mon, 05/10/2010 - 9:39am. First Congressional District Republican candidate Vaughn Ward worked for Democrats in Idaho and Virginia, IdahoReporter.com reported Sunday. But Ward's campaign manager, Ryan O'Barto, said Ward did not support Democratic state Rep. Jim Hansen of Boise when he interned for him for college credit in 1989 or 1990 at the Legislature. O'Barto also told IdahoReporter.com that the records of the Virginia Democratic Party that show Ward as a volunteer for Gov. Tim Kaine in 2005 must be a mistake and that Ward...

From the comments section: In my other life (the life that pays my salary), I am sinfully proud of my ability to correctly use terms and to grasp semantics. David Swartling, who is my secret hero, has made it impossible for me to ever again use the phrase "simple majority." I now, belatedly, grasp the difference between "vision" and "visions." I'm laughing out loud. Perhaps this distinction could be made into a YouTube video... Sincere thanks for your good work for this church, and a big shalom to you.

ELCA NEWS SERVICE May 13, 2009 Obama, Cuba and a Lutheran Theologian's Journey 09-115-SH CHICAGO (ELCA) -- Hurricane season came faster than anyone expected in 1965. Violent waves shook and tossed the boat carrying 15-year-old Alicia Vargas. Terrified and seasick, she clutched a tiny cross in her hand and prepared to die. That's how Vargas emigrated from Cuba to Florida with her sister, mother, father and grandmother, Spanish-speaking Catholics. She's now a 58-year-old theologian and ordained pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She's also a scholar of "mujerista" theology, which she defines as "Latina women's theology." Vargas...

Just got back from the North Idaho Tea Party. GREAT GATHERING! The crowd was All-American - young and old, boys and girls, men and women, fat, skinny and in between. We met on the North Shore of Coeur d'Alene Lake. Right in the middle of town. I am sure the crowd was over 1,000 people. Very lively, but typically well behaved. TV crews from two local stations were there. Local for us is Spokane, WA. Great speakers. One young man named Brock [10 years old] stole the show with Patrick Henry's "Give me Liberty or Give me Death" speech. He...

At the Nuremberg War Crimes trials in Germany at the end of World War II, observers were struck by the seeming inability of the Nazis to think, particularly to be able to think from anyone else=s perspective.
