  • Obama Addresses School Children: What Is Your School's Policy?

First statement from Farmington (MI) public schools from the list-serve last Thursday:

District Response to President Obama’s September 8th Speech

Farmington Public Schools was notified by the U.S. Department of Education that President Obama would be speaking to students via a web-based address on September 8, 2009 at noon.

The first day of school is generally a very full day for teachers and students, and many students will be either at lunch or in a classroom with previously planned activities taking place at that time. At all levels, elementary and secondary, it will be up to the teacher’s discretion if and how they will incorporate the speech into their classroom lessons. We trust the expertise of our teachers.

We have received a few calls from parents who are concerned about the District showing the President’s speech in the classrooms. Therefore, out of respect for all viewpoints, parents will be allowed to follow the established procedures if they would like to take their child(ren) out of school during this time.

It is our understanding that the President’s message is not a policy speech and that the intent is for students to work hard, set high educational goals and take responsibility for their learning.

2nd repsonse 3 days later... (Notice the change from teachers discretion to the superintendents recommendation...)

    Message from the Superintendent

In response to President Obama addressing all students on Tuesday, September 8, I am very dismayed that the Detroit Free Press misconstrued the District’s position. In a Detroit Free Press story on September 4, 2009, the Free Press reported that Farmington Public Schools is encouraging parents to pull students from class if they are uncomfortable with their child(ren) hearing the President’s speech.

I want to assure you that is not what we sent out on our list serv nor posted on the District’s web site. It is also important to note that the Detroit Free Press did not contact the District to comment on President Obama’s speech.

In fact, the District’s sentiment is quite the opposite. However, in order to support our schools, we felt it necessary to let parents know their options. We were hoping to alleviate additional calls to schools’ main offices as the first day of school is quite busy already.

I have personally reviewed the President’s speech and believe it is entirely appropriate for all our students to view, and thus, I am recommending that our teachers show it during the first week of school. The President’s speech may be read on the home page at www.whitehouse.gov. The District strongly supports President Obama’s message of the importance of education, working hard and taking responsibility for learning. These are the same messages that our students are hearing from every adult in their lives from parents, teachers, principals, school board members, and civic leaders. We want all our students to recognize the importance of getting an education and being given (and take advantage of) every opportunity to learn.

We thank you for your support and best wishes for a wonderful school year ahead.

    Sincerely-

    Superintendent Sue Zurvalec

My letter to the super here:

    Dear Ms. Zurvalec,

While I respect Farmington School District’s official position on the Presidents address to students, I hope that it is NOT part of my children’s first day of school... Unfortunately for all of us, EVERY speech that this President makes has been a politically motivated speech to inject the President’s policies in to any and all aspects of Amercian life. I do not look to Washington for direction on how my family should live our lives. Frankly, I object to the obsession many have with having a central government fix everything. In the process of fixing everything, our government has taken control of many of our basic American institutions (Banking, Auto, Health Care, Education, etc). We would be better served in Farmington, in the State of Michigan and the United States if we had less government intrusion in our lives. The classrooms need to return to the basics and focus on reading, writing and arithmetic and not fall into the trap of political indoctrination.

  • NCUA Conserves U.S. Central and Western Corporate Credit Unions

The following is the complete posting from ncua.gov... I just tried to click it again and its gone???

March 20, 2009, Alexandria, Va. — The National Credit Union Administration Board today placed U.S. Central Federal Credit Union, Lenexa, Kansas, and Western Corporate (WesCorp) Federal Credit Union, San Dimas, California, into conservatorship to stabilize the corporate credit union system and resolve balance sheet issues. These actions are the latest NCUA efforts to assist the corporate credit union network under the Corporate Stabilization Plan.

The two corporate credit unions were placed into conservatorship to protect retail credit union deposits and the interest of the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), as well as to remove any impediments to the Agency’s ability to take appropriate mitigating actions that may be necessary. Service continues uninterrupted at both U.S. Central Corporate Federal Credit Union and WesCorp, and members are free to make deposits and access funds.

The Federal Credit Union Act authorizes the NCUA Board to appoint itself conservator when necessary to conserve the assets of a federally insured credit union, preserve member assets and protect the NCUSIF.

Corporate credit unions do not serve consumers. They are chartered to provide products and services to the credit union system. These products and services will continue uninterrupted and there is no direct impact by NCUA’s actions on the 90 million credit union members nationwide. Credit unions that serve consumers remain very strong, with net worth exceeding 10 percent of assets, healthy growth in assets, membership, and loan portfolios despite the difficult economy.

U.S. Central has approximately $34 billion in assets and 26 retail corporate credit union members. WesCorp has $23 billion in assets and approximately 1,100 retail credit union members. The member accounts of both credit unions are guaranteed under provisions of the previously announced NCUA Share Guarantee Program, through December 31, 2010. The Program extends NCUSIF coverage to all funds held by the two corporate credit unions.

Following initial actions taken by the NCUA Board January 28, 2009 (see NCUA Letter to Credit Union No. 09-CU-02 http://www.ncua.gov/letters/letters.html), NCUA staff completed a detailed analysis and stress test of the mortgage and asset backed securities held by all corporate credit unions, including US Central and WesCorp. Specifically, this review determined that an unacceptably high concentration of risk resided only in the two conserved corporate credit unions. Securities held by US Central and WesCorp deteriorated further since late January 2009, contributing to diminished liquidity and payment system capacities, as well as further loss of confidence by member credit unions and other stakeholders.

Additional mortgage and asset backed security analysis and assessment of the two credit unions by NCUA staff enabled NCUA to refine NCUSIF’s required reserve for potential loss. The findings indicated an overall estimated reserve level, previously announced by NCUA, had increased from $4.7 to $5.9 billion. The specific computation and the impact of the refined reserve level are addressed in NCUA Letter No: 09-CU-06, which NCUA issued and posted online today at http://www.ncua.gov/letters/letters.html.

NCUA is hosting a webcast Monday, March 23 at 2 p.m. to provide the credit union community with an update on the corporate credit union stabilization program.

The central short-term objective of NCUA’s Corporate Stabilization Program has been to increase liquidity in corporate credit unions. Since the NCUA Board first began taking stabilization actions, liquidity has demonstrated marked improvement. The reliance on external borrowing has declined from $11.8 billion to $2.1 billion.

NCUA believes that the actions to conserve the two corporates, in tandem with established plans to enhance liquidity and generally stabilize the corporate network, represent the most cost effective and prudent alternative available to the credit union industry. The final stage in the overall stabilization program involves the Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking initiated by the NCUA Board in January. The credit union industry is expected to provide suggestions on possible future regulatory reforms to the corporate credit union network.

NCUA will continue to take any and all steps necessary to preserve a well-functioning system of corporate credit unions and to protect the assets of natural person credit unions and their members during the ongoing broader financial market dislocation.

The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates, charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), insuring the deposits of over 89million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.

David Alinsky about his father on Autgust 31, 2008... Here is the text of one of the comments (below)... It is very interesting to note that the end of the comment is signed; “Compliments, Rush”... Could this have been Rush Limbaugh (aka Jezzzica)???

The Drive by Media is not interested in Obama’s relationships with Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, the freak Father Pfleger, and, of course, Bernardine Dohrn. It’s all unfolding before our very eyes, the genuine mean-spirited, extreme radicalism of Barack Obama. What are they trying to hide? This whole campaign is one of deception, deceit, and fraud. This guy is unqualified. He is not a presidential candidate; he is a presidential operative. They found somebody from an opposition research war room and they made him the candidate.
The referendum is going to be up and down on Barack Obama and he’s telling us who he is now. Obama is lying. He’s assuming they’re not bright enough to know or to learn the truth. The truth is that Barack Obama is not a unifier. So he says one thing in public as Cool Hand Luke and so forth, ah, they swoon, and down in the trenches it’s the community agitator Saul Alinsky-trained Barack Obama, trying to manipulate Hispanics, as he has manipulated blacks, he has manipulated whites, he manipulated the middle class. He doesn’t try to persuade people to agree with him. He doesn’t try to persuade people and uplift people anymore. No, no. This is about search-and-destroy.

What kind of presidential candidate would have such contempt for his fellow citizens, The fact is he can’t stand for them, he can’t run the risk that they will learn the truth. They have to be lied to, just as you have to be lied to. Liberalism is a lie. The only way liberalism can prosper is if it gets away with its lies. It has gotten way with lies in this financial mess, it’s gotten away with lies in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, it’s gotten away with lies in the Great Society. Liberalism is a continuing, ongoing lie. They mask it well sometimes. Other times they blow it. In this case, Obama has blown it. It is obvious that this ad is a full-fledged, 100% lie, because he thinks the very people he wants to represent are too stupid and too ignorant to learn or understand the truth.
Barack Obama is stoking racism in this country. There can’t be any legitimate disagreement of views. There is no other side. The other side just has to be gotten away with, or gotten rid of. He is a disgrace.

Barack Obama wants the public to think he’s Mr. Nice Guy, soft-spoken, erudite, a new kind of politician, new, fresh, unique, uniter. He’s going to come around and he’s going to just wave his hand and all of these partisan feelings of rancor are going to vanish. He is inciting partisan feelings of rancor; he is inciting hatred; he is inciting racism; he is using every tactic he can to make people as mad as he can make them, all for the purpose of manipulating them for their support. He’s Mr. Nice Guy while his thugs are in Alaska looking for dirt on Sarah Palin, hacking into her personal e-mail account while he runs race-baiting ads and lies about what he’s done and lies about what Senator McCain has done. He’s running a two-tier campaign. Chicago tactics behind the scenes, new politics imagery in front of the cameras, Barack Obama, a man whose mask has been removed. There can be no mistake who he is now. There can be no conclusion other than he is just an average Chicago thug, typical liberal Democrat politician when you strip everything else away. Compliments, Rush

Speaking of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals... Here they are:

RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources - money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)

RULE 2: “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don’t address the “real” issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.)

RULE 3: “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)

RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)

RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)

RULE 6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid “un-fun” activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.)

RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.)

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. (Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists’ minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.)

RULE 10: “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management’s wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.)

RULE 11: “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

If you read Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals (listed below) , you will see how BHO is continuing his MO... The problem is that once you’re in power (ie. communist Russia), the Rules now begin to work against you... You are now longer the Underdog, you are becoming the new target... 3 days in and BHO is making Rush the Underdog... The tables are about to turn... Hang on... This will be good...

“Monday will be FUNday listening to Rush, LOL!”

The Clinton years are gonna seem pretty tame before BHO is done (in four years)... BHO will be the best thing that ever happened to the Republican Party... McCain would have destroyed the Republicans by being bipartisan... BHO will unify the Republicans by being predictably partisan...

BHO’s new definition of bipartisanship... Bully the loyal opposition into submission...

    God Bless Rush Limbaugh!!!!
