When Trump cancelled his trip to Wisconsin on Sunday, I suggested his internal polling must've been bad. Well, fry up the crow and I'll sit down to eat. Dammit if he didn't win in Wisconsin and it was the key win early that broke the blue wall. I stand humbled.

Pure vanity question. Today, Obama said he visits Walker Reed a few times a year and mentioned he has been responsible for sending young men off to fight and they end up at Walter Reed. Given how Obama likes to puff his chest and I'm not sure he's lying, mouth there has to be a log of some sort they keep, mthat would prove how often he's been there. Like him or not, G W Bush has really spent time with wounded vets. thanks for any response

What did the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel know, and when did it know it? The question relates to the Journal-Sentinel reporters’ knowledge of a pre-dawn paramilitary-style raid of the home of Cindy Archer, a fomer aide to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and one of the architects of Wisconsin’s Act 10, which reformed that State’s public sector unions. The raid of Archer’s home occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 14, 2011. At the time of the raid, Archer saw an individual that she believed to be a reporter, standing in her lawn. But the question became: How would a...

Initial report of Hekmatyar's capture was a case of mistaken identity On 9-11, Deutsche Presse-Agentur reported “the commander of the Hizb-i-Islami militia in Hafezan in the eastern province of Nangarhar, Gulbuddin Hikmatyar, was arrested after credible intelligence led Afghan and coalition forces to his compound.” An independent intelligence source confirmed the initial report, which led to my post on this matter, however a subsequent identification by fingerprinting indicates the person in question is not Hekmatyar. The capture suspect is a high level commander in Hezb-i-Islami, and is said to be a dead ringer for Hekmatyar. The misidentification of terrorist commanders...

Drawing a national spotlight to the University and dealing a painful blow to the Kroc Institute for Peace Studies, the State Department has revoked the visa of Tariq Ramadan, a prominent but controversial Muslim scholar scheduled to begin teaching at Notre Dame Tuesday. Hired last spring to raise the profile and diversify the curriculum of the Kroc Institute, Ramadan was initially granted a visa after passing a thorough investigation by both the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department. However, his permission to work in the United States was revoked July 28 for reasons not revealed to the University....

June 24, 2004 -- AFTER terrorists beheaded Korean hostage Kim Sun-il, The New York Times kept the photo showing the horror of his final moments off yesterday's front page. Instead, the Times' front page bizarrely describes Kim as "sitting or kneeling quietly" as he waited to die — in reality the photo, back on Page A-11, shows Kim with his mouth open wide in terror, and the video shows him shaking with fear.

Mourning Families Touched by President By Diane Lacey Allen The Ledger diane.allen@theledger.com Petty Officer Ron Ginther was the stern one. He always helped 8-year-old Alayna with her homework, searching the Internet for tips on preparing for the FCAT. He was the backbone of the Auburndale family. So when the Seabee was killed by mortar fire last month, Donna Ginther worried how she would carry on without her husband. She was terrified her daughter would grow up to be a different adult without Ginther to lead the way. Donna Ginther told President George W. Bush about her fears Wednesday when he...

Here we go, this is a thread for all of us to list the names and quotes from the talking heads who really don't like the news of Saddam's capture. I am certain this is going to be a long thread....Robin Wright - The one thing to remember is that, even though we've got Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden is still out there," complained Washington Post reporter Robin Wright on NBC's "Meet the Press." Barry McCaffrey - introduced by Tom Brokaw, "The news of Saddam's capture will most certainly lead to a short term increase in violence among the former...

The movie, Gods and Generals is now out on video and I had the pleasure of watching it last night (Mrs. irish guard is not very big on violent movies). I remember from the original post when the movie came out, the character of Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson stole the show and I was stunned by the focus on religion and each of the principal character's unabashed expression of their religious faith. The news today is troubling all around; gay marriages and Bishops, priest pedophelia, Muslim violence....all religion related. I am certain I will be flamed for this post, but it...

With all the news about Iraq, I have hesitated posting this but I can no longer resist. Just prior to this Christmas, I asked my wife for a shotgun. But not just any shotgun.I had always wanted a .20 gauge over/under for upland bird hunting, but what I really wanted was a gun with a "story" behind it. You know....some 80 year old guy who had used "Old Betsy" all his life and had three girls, none of whom liked to hunt and wanted to find a good home for his favorite gun.My wife put her brother on the job...

I remember watching TV late in the afternoon on the 11th and hearing Peter Jennings wondering out loud where our President was. Didn;t we all feel a bit confused and concerned about if or when another plane might hit another building? Yet, here is the great (sic) Peter Jennings blathering on about how in a time of crisis we need to see our President. It still raised the bile in my throat when I think of it.Earlier today, CBS elected to "politicize" or at least substantially editorialize what had otherwise been a decent 9/11 memorial by talking about an attack on...
