This problem with humanity is one of the reasons great civilizations fall time and again, even when the GREATEST of orators (Cicero, Demosthenes, etc) try to fend it off. And here we are try to fend it off with Mitt Romney and other GOPe losers, let alone those famous men with superior skill-sets of verbal persuasion. Good Grief!

The whole premise of their argument and even our responses are all patently absurd.

We shouldn’t even have to point out the extremely obvious reasons for what they are “noticing”or saying is the result of discrimination.

It all comes down to time and money. They have a way of being rich without needing to work a real job- they get 6 figures to work a foundations that all them to support their family and spend 100% of their time pushing whatever insane issue they want- we simply don’t have that. In cases where we do we don’t have the low level low salary population with our values to the the 30k a year supporting gigs at those places. People with our values that would be in that class are determined to do better and bring themselves up, whereas those gigs are largely dead end and just another form of permanent welfare.

I think Joe made a good point about not having to always highlight every position we have at every turn when campaigning.

Dems don’t do that, and Obama certainly doesn’t do that.

I am very pro-life, but why focus that as my main campaign issue each time, to use a classic example. It is dividing. To win, we do need to unite people as much as possible now a days.

We can do this with by *focusing* on policy that should appeal to a majority. I think we have a winning issue with pushing back immigration from countries without compatible value systems, and pushing back against religious political systems (Sharia)having legal influence.

Couple this with a focus on how to achieve real GROWTH, as has recently been bandied about (Jindal) and we start to have a narrative that most American’s will still feel “makes sense to them.”

Add to that right-to work policies, and pointing out policies like those Texas has implemented that is leading to massive population and business influx, and reasonable (albeit even potentially socially more liberal) people will take voting for us seriously.

Once we are in, the rest of our values come with it, just like Obama is doing now. Then you have all the votes, appointments and control over bureaucratic tasks and organizations you need to begin to shape the country in the way conservatives believe is best. It then has a lasting effect and begins to “trickle down.”

Obama has gotten that model right. Some may call it being a liar, and I know that conservatives prefer to be upfront about any and all topics, but this is politics. Politics isn’t something where full frontal exposure plays well. Not in the Athenian debates squares, or in the Roman Republic’s Senate, or now.

I’m watching this. So far, it seems like a lot of “Why don’t we consider liberal lite ideas, in a nut-shell.”

The tax-targeting discussion is a good one, but I’m not sure what they mean as they keep mentioning “new ideas.”

So far, their “new ideas” seem to be summarized being open to liberal-lite policies.

Earlier they said, “so what would you replace Obama-care with, that is something the party has to bring to the table.”

Am I nuts for thinking, Ummm how about mal-practice and tort reform, government corporate tax breaks for companies that offer sound medical coverage from the private market to their employees? These things would cover two bases; cutting corporate taxes thus encouraging business founding and investment, as well as helping people have opportunity to receive better and better health care from their employer (the better the health care offered, the higher the corporate tax break). The break could come on the payroll tax side, since that is linked to expenditure on each employee.

Please, am I off base here, or aren’t these things I’ve mentioned some of the things that should be being discussed?

Laptops overall really suck.

To be honest the only one I use is a Macbook Air, but I’m not really a mac guy. It is just the Air is really the only quality laptop to speak of. There is a Vaio ultrabook model or two that I have liked, but they are less reliable.

I won’t give up my self-built mega desktop for anything. If you sink about 3-4K it will last you about 7-9 years at this point and you’ll have ultimate horsepower the whole span, the way software and gaming has really leveled out about 4 years ago.

I take the 6 train from 86th to 14th everyday. I’ve been hyper aware since the first one happened.

In fact, in Union Square, there are almost ALWAYS insane muttering people on the platform, I even saw personally, one push a random woman once. She was leaning on the post so she didn’t fall forward and there was no train coming though.

This is getting out of hand. Lock these freakin’ sickos up, pronto.

If not, people, like me, are just going to start punching these whackos out when they present themselves in dangerous situations, which in the city can be anything really. Even standing on the sidewalk; they could just push you into traffic.

If you are crazy (a wide generic, but fitting term), you should not be left to live in the normal populace left up to your own devices.

How to identify someone who is crazy? Well, as many have pointed out, it needs to come from the observations and willingness of the close friends/family to speak out and alert people, authorities, that can help the ill person.

We also certainly should have institutes and asylums reestablished, rather than checking people out, patting them on the back and sending them back into the populace as ticking time bombs.

I'm not making any connection to Autism here, I'm largely ignorant on the subject, but whatever sub-label you want to give it, I'm of the opinion, crazy is crazy bipolar, schizophrenic, clinically depressed, etc.

Reopening institutes is key, keeping family deeply involved even when such people are committed, and have oversight as to limit the nurse-ratchet types from abusing patients are all steps in the right direction (funny, like a lot of things, we used to do all this before the progressive take-over 50 years ago)

Finally for those that fall through the cracks, as many a freepers have stated, the only defense left is to make sure the innocents have protection of their own, and that the general populace is armed and trained to be armed safely.
