COBRA is for employees of companies who have 20 or more employees for more than 50% of the working days in the year who have current group health plans.

By FEDERAL LAW all of those employers are REQUIRED to inform an ex-employee of their rights under COBRA. Failure to do so carries fines.

No agent or employer meeting those requirements “hides” these benefits from employees.

I’m a broker and get asked this question quite often by people. All employees who leave a job, unless fired for cause such as theft, have the right to continue coverage.

Most employees don’t do so as they find out that they must pay the full premium that the employer has been mostly paying for them.

There has been in the past additonal help from the Federal Gov in having the employer pay for the coverage for an addtional 9 months for which the employer is supposed to get a tax credit.

One of the most important questions that insurance agents are required to ask the client and is on ALL of the insurance applications is if the application is on COBRA or if they were eligible and turned it down or declined coverage.

So to say the employers or insurance agents “hide” this is incorrect.

  • Falling In Love with the Biblical Jesus [Heartwarming Conversion Story]

I would later be astounded to read what happened to me in 1st Peter 3:1-2. It states, “Wives, likewise be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the Word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear (reverence for the Lord).”

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED! My wife was saved first, and then through her chaste conduct and her newfound reverence for Jesus Christ, I was won over to the Lord. AMAZING!

    Dear Brother in Christ:

That is exactly what happened in my life also. In 1984 I was running around on my wife and had sent her away so that I could continue in my sin.

While she was away, my wife, who had been raised by as a Baptist, and only heard the do nots of the Bible found the real living, breathing Jesus in a Bible believing church.

She then threw herself totally on the arms of Jesus and trusted His Word and came “home” to me.

I tried to break the peace that she had but I couldn't do it. I was raised as a “Christian Scientist” and knew nothing of the Bible or Jesus. But I knew how to hurt and scold and twist any argument around.

My wife had spent her last $50 to buy me a Bible when she came home. Well when I started to read this “book” it was if God was pointing His finger right at me and showing everyone that I was an adulterer and when I came to Psalms 51 God had written me into his book.....OUCH....

So I was convicted of my sin and asked Jesus to forgive me of my sin and to come into my life as LORD.

As with your case I was shown the light of the world by my wife and she did save my life.

    Thank GOD for such women....

Here is a reply that I posted to the NY Times regarding the article on MRS Palin:

September 8th, 2008 2:28 amSo, you state, “She went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that her son Trig’s arrival would not hurt her work. “

Gee, I would have thought that a “progressive” paper such as yours would cheer that a woman such as Mrs. Palin could “bring home the bacon” and “fry it up in the pan”.

Her “struggle” upon learning that her son had Down’s Syndrome I’m sure gave her some pause. She had the sense to trust that God had plans for her and her son perhaps not of her choosing and that she had the grace in her heart to say “Not my will, but thine will be done” means a lot to me and hundreds of thousands of us in the heartland of America.

I’ve been through some of the same struggles that she is now facing in my family personally and I admire her dedication to her family, her commitment to the people of Alaska and bravery in stepping out into the storm of media attention that, as this article proves, will try to lessen her as a woman and mother.

All I have to say is “Go Sarah” and may God greatly bless your family as you, as each of us, struggle with this precious life.
