Freekitty has been in the hospital for a month, she is at home now and needs your prayers for her continued recovery. She had gall bladder surgery in January and then began having seizures from an unknown cause. Carol and her husband Craig would appreciate your prayers for her continued recovery. She is very weak and unable to stand but the seizures have stopped. Thank you all for praying for our FRiend.
  • My Trip To Barnes & Nobles

Tonight at Barnes & Nobels I got angry! I went to buy Dick Morris's new book Rewriting History. When I entered the store the table facing the front door was covered with all the new anti-Bush books, too many to mention. I looked all the way around the table expecting to find Morris on the back side. His book wasn't there. I went to the nearest cash register & asked the lady where I might find Rewriting History (I am starting to smolder). She checked the computer and then informed me it was all the way across the store on...

Laughter is good and we all need to laugh while we can, who knows what tomorrow brings. AXII OF ALL KINDS OF STUFF Bitter after being snubbed for membership in the "Axis of Evil", Lybia, China and Syria today announced they had formed the "Axis of Just as Evil, which they said, would be far MORE evil than the Iran-Iraq-North Korean axis Presiden Bush warned of in his State of the Union address. Diplomats from Syria denied they were jealous over being excluded, although they conceded they did ask if they could join the Axis of Evil. "They told us ...
  • Citizenry of Dunces America: land of the stupid, spoiled and clueless

    05/27/2001 2:05:19 PM PDT · by Ditter · 129+ views
The Houston Chronicle | 5-27-2001 | Norah Vincent
Stupidity always has been the unfortunate side effect of too much privilege. Nowhere has this been truer than in the United States, where people routinely espouse untenable political positions that only a spoiled child would ever entertain. Sadly, that is, for the most part, what we Americans are. Spoiled. And utterly clueless. We don't live in the real world because we never had to. Which is why, right in the middle of a dire energy crisis, you have environmentalists who habitually gorge themselves on electric conveniences bemoaning the construction of new power plants. It's also why you have gangs of coddled, ...
  • Thinking of Moving to New Zealand???????

When I announced that we were going to New Zealand a few of you asked me to post my reaction when I returned. So here it is.The reason for the trip was a Red Stag hunt in the north island. My husband shot a 19 point Red Stag that scored 380. For you non-hunters thats not too bad. WE spent 3 days in Auckland & that was 3 day too many, we were not impressed. After the hunt was over we rented a car & drove south, crossing on the ferry from Wellington to Picton. We drove all over the ...
  • BUSH FOR PRESIDENT Texas gov. best-equipped to lead nation (This in a left leaning newspaper WOW!!)

THE HOUSTON CHRONICAL Editorial Page 10/8/00 | 10/8/00 | Houston Chronical editorial staff
On Nov. 7 Americans will choose the next president of the United States. The Houston Chronical believes the Republican candidate Texas Gov. George W. Bush, is the best choice, and the Chronical is proud to endorse his candidacy. Bush and his Democratic opponent, Vice Presidet Al Gore, come from the centrist wing of their parties, but the distinctions between the two men are clear and important. Consider but a few of the urgent issues in this campaign. U.S.armed forces are the strongest and best-equipped in the world, but they suffer from a shortage of spare parts and limites on fuel ...

[A friend of mine signed me up to recieve e-mail from Joe McQuade. The only reason I haven,t removed my name is because I want to be there when Bush wins in Nov. and hear this guy p*ss and moan. He is quite articulate and seems to be well informed but he has class envy and hatred of Republicans in his blood. Please, some of you really gifted freepers go and work this guy over, he needs it.] (Joe McQuade)Three months ago Civil Discourse opened a discussion titled "Election 2000 Blues" in which correspondents groused about how ill-served the American ...
  • CHASE MANHATTAN BANK WEAZELS OUT (of giving up funding Boy Scouts)

E-mail from Chase Manhattan Bank | 9/1/2000 | Chase Manhattan Bank
STATEMENT FROM CHASE MANHATTAN CORPORATION REGARDING FUNDING OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA Chase is committed to creating a respectful and inclusive workplace for all our employees, including our gay and lesbian employees. In the wake of the recent Supreme Court decision, we decided to review our relationship with the Boy Scouts. The Scouts have many outstanding programs and we have been a substantial contributer to some of those programs, particularly programs benefitting inner city children. We temporarily suspended any new funding commitments while we conducted our review. Unfortunately, our position was mischaracterized in several press reports on the subject. ...
  • Death Penalty Issue Not Haunting Bush Campaign As Predicted

    07/02/2000 6:06:30 PM PDT · by Ditter · 28+ views
    Houston Chronical | 7/2/2000 | Julie Mason
Carried aloft on polls showing him ahead of his opponent in key states and the nation, the presidential candidate who says he isn't ruled by polls was by all appearances the happiest of campers last week. All told, it should have been a bad week for Republican Gov. George W. Bush. An entire industry of dour pundits before, during and after the June 22 execution of convicted murderer Gary Graham intoned relentlessly that the death penalty issue would be following Bush for the rest of his campaign. Guess what? They were wrong. Of course, with the weekly executions scheduled up ...

This is for those of you who think all you have to do is lock them up for life. BEEVILE- A convicted killer already serving a life sentence was indicted Tuesday on charges of capital murder in the death of prison guard Daniel Nagle. Robert Lynn Pruett 20, could face the death penalty if found guilty of the Dec. 17 attack on Nagle, who was fatally stabbed with a sharpened rod while patrolling the Texas Department of Criminal Justice McConnell Unit near Beeville in South Texas. It was the first fatal attack on a Texas corrections officer since guard Minnie ...

Hillary Rodham Clinton may have made a mis-step or 20 in her campaign for the Senate in her latest home state, but she's certainly wise to distance herself from Unidentified Man in the Background, whose major role in this campaign is to stay in the background. The president's assignment, whether he chooses to accept it or not, is to stay out of trouble, stand aside whenever possible and smile adorlingly at the candidate. In short, it's his turn to, play Stepford husband. Watching the Clintons do still another turn in their award-winning, husband-and-wife, Gower and Marge Champion routine, a faded ...

I may have to give up Freerepublic. I found it a year ago. Since then I have been a dedicated lurker. I have spent an hour or two a day reading articles and commentary. Happy that there were so many level-headed conseratives out there. I have never posted anything before, I told myself I didn't know how. I have replyed to articles only occasionaly. Lately I have become very depressed because of the number of you who are upset because of GW Bush. I'm a Texan and I like the Bush family. But the aren't God to me, I won't ...
