Margaret Sanger gives a detailed account of her well-received 1926 speech to the Ku Klux Klan in her autobiography.  Sanger's open admission to speaking at a KKK rally has not stopped leftists from trying to deny it happened.  Thanks to scholars like Dr. Paul Kengor, a university professor, and Arina Grossu at the Washington Times, the Margaret Sanger KKK Planned Parenthood connection has received greater attention in recent years - despite Google's attempt to rank their research low in Margaret Sanger KKK queries.   The new attention Sanger's KKK speech has received has forced leftists into the odd position of trying...

Dr. Paul Kengor takes an in depth look at what really happened that night when Margaret Sanger first spoke to the Ku Klux Klan.  Check out his brilliant analysis over the American Spectator:  Reflections on Roe: When Margaret Sanger Spoke to the KKK . As the professor points out, there is no excuse not to know this stuff!  If a conservative group was receiving millions of dollars of federal funds and had such close ties to the KKK, rest assured we would never here the end of it and there would be endless movies, plays and documentaries memorializing the events.  Well, Professor...

Catholic Culture and Holiness Yesterday on his blog, Remembering Father William Doyle, S.J., our dear friend, Benedictine Oblate Pat Kenny, wrote a compelling plea for the canonisation of more Irish saints. Pat writes: When one compares Ireland to other countries with strong Catholic heritage – Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, France, even parts of Germany, we perform very poorly when it comes to canonisations. Of course, it’s not a contest and the numbers themselves don’t really matter. Yet, at another level, the numbers are a kind of barometer that tell us something about the spiritual climate of a country. After...

When the parents of a newborn child stand on the threshold of the church before the little one’s baptism, the priest puts this question to them: What do you want for your child? The parents respond: Faith. Faith is the key that opens the door of the kingdom of God, but one is not born with the key of faith in one’s pocket. One cannot produce faith nor can one earn it. One receives the key of faith humbly; it is a divine gift.God does not refuse faith to one who asks for it, but one must ask for...

The Gentle Traditionalist Monday, 14 December 2015 15:00 1 Comment PETER KWASNIEWSKI calls it: “A tale of whimsical fantasy, melancholy realism, and supernatural joy … Buck’s deftly-reasoned post-modern apologetic for full-blooded Catholicism—a Syllabus of Errors in narrative form, a rousing hymn to ‘meaning, grace, beauty, life’.”The Gentle Traditionalist by Roger Buck will brighten the mind and warm the heart during these dark, cold Irish December days and long nights. I received a copy from the author three days ago and have already read the book twice, savouring it and delighting in it both times. I recommend The Gentle Traditionalist...

The power of suggestion. When you type "Margaret Sanger" into any search engine (besides Google) the Autocomplete suggestions for Yahoo, Bing, Aol and DuckDuckGo include terms like "racist," "Negro Project," "eugenics," "KKK," and "colored people," among others. The Google Autocomplete, however, will suggest none of those terms to finish a Margaret Sanger search.  Instead, the Google search engine suggests "apush," "speech," "award," and "books." Of the mere four words suggested by Google, only the term "award" is suggested by any of the other search engines.  We just find this strange.  What is the purpose of Autocomplete?  To help users...

Even before channel-surfing became a national sport in this country, the paid political program had fallen out of favor. Most viewers, the conventional wisdom went, would turn off such a program. And those who did not were probably already supporting the candidate on the screen, anyway. Then in early October, Ross Perot went on the air with a set of cardboard graphics and 16.5 million people tuned in for what amounted to a 30-minute lecture. Since then, Mr. Perot's paid political programs have consistently outdrawn many sit-coms. (On Friday night, a half-hour program in which Mr. Perot introduced his family...

Silverstream Priory St Benedict’s Sons in Ireland Dom Mark Daniel Kirby, 62, was born and raised in Connecticut. Today, he is the Prior of a newly-established Benedictine monastery in Stamullen, Ireland. The Monastery of Our Lady of the Cenacle has an amazing vocations problem: they have far too many young monks (plus interested young men) for their meager means. Here’s their story: Q. Dom Kirby, tell us how  Silverstream Priory began. The seed of Silverstream Priory was planted in my heart in 2004-2005.  Profoundly moved by Saint John Paul II’s apostolic letter, ‘Mane nobiscum Domine,’ I resolved to live the mystery...
