I have never envied what Wall Street execs/workers do everyday...never.

Their job would make me crazy, depressed, and I would probably take up drinking.

That said, I think they earn their money. They do a job that I couldn’t do and don’t want to do, BUT if I CHOSE to do it, I could...and make the money they make.

And yes, there are thieves and liars among them, but that is true of ANY profession; there are bad apples everywhere, that’s part of life for goodness sake!

OTOH, reporters, “journolists”, and sad to say teachers, are jobs that are way over paid. (I just heard a teacher screamimg somehwere)...they make themselves and their profession to be the first rung of sainthood...a job that requires you to be better than and above the rest of us...sure. Right.

DO NOT EVEN get me started on TEACHERS...I am old enough to remember real teachers AND I also remember when they started striking every August; I experienced my first strike at 6 years old...and I NEVER FORGOT it...it’s the main reason I am a Conservative today!

Sounds like a fascinating man. Bet he tells some really good tales!

My uncle worked at the Pentagon starting in the Kennedy years and he always had great stories to tell.

I always tried to get him to write a book;he was an excellent writer and writing reports etc was a large part of his job. He was even asked to”moonlight” and help out some speech writers for a couple of Presidents; he did it once and hated it, so he declined a second time.He was honored to be asked, he said, because he spent a lot of money on an education to learn how to sell, bribe and impress with a well-turned sentence or phrase. Or, as his wife called it, BS. And he could BS 5 star Generals, but he could never get one over on his wife!

Sadly he passed without ever writing that book, but I am better for having known him. He was a real patriot and even passed on the 4th of July....

we have the road race thing going on here too....and like you said, they are even worse in packs!

If I were a skinny guy on a skinny bike wearing spandex, I would be VERY careful who I said what to out here in the country.

This area is full of Swamp Yankees and they don’t take kindly to ANYONE telling them what to do or how to do it. And they may not yell back or shoot you (lots of hunting weapons out here), but they are very very creative and patient when it comes to pay back. My hubby is one...best friend you could ever have...worst enemy too and an enemy for life.

Every spring, he and his buddies wait for “those spandex a*****es”, and when they have a race and want fresh country air? My husband and his friends light the smelliest, smokiest fire using venison and fish bones/parts...and put on bluegrass and spend the day honing their fire skills and dreaming up new ways to get back at them...

yes, it seems silly (sorry honey) But those spandex a*****es used to yell at my barking dogs-fenced in dogs who were doing their job-telling me to “control my dogs”...blah blah...”nothing but white trash”...said this TO ME...with of course no man around.

So I let the guys do what they want!

But when Paula Dean announced she had been diabetic for 3 years, the SHTF and people said she should have been helping other diabetics cook/eat better foods, instead of her (delicious) Southern “high-fat” cooking. Is she a certified nutrionist?

I understand what you mean and I didn’t mean that you were heartless...and it is a tough call when an animal is born with a birth defect. I have a kitty that was feral, was born with a dislocated jaw and she’s never grown bigger than 4 lbs. We took her in because she couldn’t eat and would have died outside. It took us 3-4 years to gain her complete trust (she was just skitish with strange noises)and we just cared for her and gave her a cushion of her own. We talked about putting her down, but she was so healthy once we took her inside. She is still with us and has the loudest meow I have ever heard; she’s the dinner bell.
    .
To me, that kitty with the twisted legs looked pretty darn happy... Before and after the surgery. And personally, that is my way of deciding what is best; if an animal is suffering, no matter what I WANT, it is more important to give them what they NEED.I had to put down my 17 yr old terrier-it was THE hardest thing I have ever done. She was such a fighter, but she was suffering and she would continue to suffer just to be a good dog-for me. And I couldn’t let her do that....
I would never put an animal thru anything just to make myself feel better. I know there are people like that,( I think they’re called Liberals!!).

So I apologize; sometimes when you type words, they lack the gentle nature meant to go with them.....have a good night!

    It’s called compassion.

And I have cared for feral cats and stopped the cycle on my property by catching them and neutering them-and I paid for all 30 of them-it took 2 years.

My next door neighbor had sheep and just fed them. He only did what he had to with them and every few months one would get sick and he would shoot it. I think he only had them because he liked to shoot them. He didn’t have a compassionate bone in his body, and would always let “nature do her thing”.He always told us to just “shoot all those damn cats”.
Now he shoots squirrels that get near his birdfeeder.I cringe every time I hear a shot.

We have dominion over the earth and especially with domestic animals, it is our duty to care for them.
As long as it is private money that is used for these animals that are thrown away and/or mistreated and/or defective-there is no issue.

And yes-people kill babies-THE WORST thing I think, that humans do...if I could, I would stop it tomorrow. It is horrific and barbaric...so for now, while I work on that, I choose to care for animals-they are not human, but compassion is compassion.

she had a tumor on her face just below her ear-I can’t remember what the exact name of it was, but it had to do with the ear canal. It wasn’t on her ear though, just below it-kind of where the face puffs out a little? It was a big long name.It was a few years ago...cannot get the brain to remember...
It looked like she had scratched herself; there was a little hole-just a bit bigger than a pin hole and of course I cleaned it off and kept an eye on it. Like I said, she was a pushy kitty, so I thought maybe one of the other cats scratched her, it was just odd looking.

After a few days, it had gotten larger and was infected, so off she went to the vet...she thought the same thing and gave us antibiotics, cleaned it etc.

Long story short, it started to get larger everyday and of course was oozing etc. It was awful...nothing helped it...took her back to the vet and she took one look at it and I could tell she knew and it was bad-you could tell at that point there was a mass-the cheek area looked puffier; when the vet wiped it a little to clean it, it just opened wide and I didn’t know what I was looking at-I think it was bone. I started crying and they kept her of course.
They called us the next day and told us it was cancer of the_______ ?it’s like the lower part of the ear inside. It was really big and was actually stretching the skin open...it was terrible. It was growing from the inside out.I don’t know if it was a certain kind of cancer/tumor-I don’t remember anything being said about that.

We took her home and the tumor looked a lot better-like it just needed to be drained.I thought maybe the vet was wrong.

About 2 weeks went by and it wasn’t oozing much, so we thought it WAS getting better.
Then one morning I couldn’t find her; she was on top of my kitchen cabinets and her face was so swollen, her eye was swollen shut. She couldn’t see to get down, so I had to go up and get her.

After that, it started oozing more and we knew we would have to make a decision.

The next day,she stopped eating and was hiding and I told my husband I would call and bring her in in the morning; I got up and she had passed ...and she was on Buddy’s bed.

I cried for days!!! It’s so hard with cancer; she really didn’t seem to be in pain or even bothered by it.She cried once when she scratched it, but that was it.You don’t know whether to put them down right away, or wait-hoping they might make it.

Sorry for the long post-I start talking about my animals and they are really my family as I have no children of my own..(unless you count my hubby!) ;), and I just go on and on!
We’ve rescued a lot of cats and even took care of feral cats that “came with the property”, so I have a lot of stories!
Good luck with your kitty...just do the best you can and give kitty a little extra love, I think that’s all they want when they’re sick....

My late Rottie, Buddy, fell in love with our calico, Chi-Chi.
I am convinced that that dog loved pain.

He put up with biting and scratching, just so he could lick her.The other cats never liked her, as she was always a bit pushy, to put it nicely, so I just thought she was treating him badly because she was nasty to everyone-except us.

Finally, after about a year, she broke down and was smitten. Whenever he came into the room, she would meow and go up to him rubbing against him and he would try to do the same but would end up knocking her over (he was 120lbs). She would roll around and end up on her back, grab his snout and he’d lick her tummy.
Sometimes we had to break it up (hey-you 2 get a room!, my husband would say and they would stop-I swear!) and I’d have to clean up his slobber.

When she wasn’t in the mood, she’d whack him on his head a few times and sometimes he’d walk away, other times he’d crouch, wag his tail and bark at her. She loved it and would keep hitting him so he’d keep barking. When I would come to see what the commotion was, they’d both look up at me with that-what? who me? expression.

At night,I would go around the house turning off the lights, and after a couple of nights, I realized I was always walking over Buddy. Why aren’t you in your bed? I’d ask him. Well, when I went into our other den where the $$$ dog beds were, there, in the middle of this enormous bed,was Chi-Chi. This became a nightly ritual and he only slept on his bed during the day. Sometimes, when he slept on the floor, she would come and sleep next to him too.

Buddy got sick and died rather suddenly from kidney disease and about 6 months later, Chi-Chi was diagnosed with cancer and before we could even decide whether to put her down, she died.
She used to spend all of her time at the window looking outside for him; it was so sad, just broke my heart.

We buried Chi-Chi on our property in the dog cemetery, right next to Buddy....she is the only cat buried there.

...you read about these pet “love stories” and always wonder if they are true; I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes!

Pets are such a gift from above; I don’t know what I would do without them.

    It was heart-breaking.

I didn’t feel bad for all the crazies who thought he was a god and were just looking for an idol to worship, but I really did feel badly for black Americans because they were being used and some (not all) really looked hopeful and happy that they had finally broken the race barrier with a black President...and sadly, I knew he was evil, immoral and would only bring ruin to our country.
I cannot think of one good thing he has done-and that’s a sad legacy for our first black President.

We knew he would keep us white conservatives under his foot, but black Americans didn’t know they would be under his thumb and used to advance his hideous and anti-American agenda whenever he needed to play the race baiting game.

His legacy will be one of pure corruption.

I was so sad the day he got elected. What should have been a day of celebration-the election of America’s first black President-I knew that for the next 4 years he and his handlers would use the race card over and over. He would do what he could to ruin America-or what he considers white-ruled America.

it was sad to think about what Obama was going to do to “race relations” (not to mention the whole darn country!) As the first black American President, he had such a once in a lifetime opportunity in his hands; he could have shown that if you worked hard and lived right, as a black man, you could do anything, you could have it all.

But, unfortunately, the first black man elected was-Obama, not Thomas Sowell or Clarence Thomas.

A man with such a hideous past, it must be covered up at any cost.
A man with such a hateful, anti-American agenda, that even his ideas must be constructed in the dark, and are so bad that they can only be made law by an edict or by breaking other laws-once again-put in place at any cost.

On the other side of the scale, they had a fat cat (get it? ha-ha) and of course the scales tipped over because of the fat cat and all his money. And then narrator explained that if you take some of that money away from the fat cat (and now the scales are even) and spread it out for all the poor little helpless kitties to use, everyone would be much happier and the world would be a better place...cue cute little kitties waving the American flag.

Maybe the Russians do not want to give Obama his “space” and wait until after the election to do whatever it is he has been ordered to do....this was their way of saying hello.

Could be the agents were drugged-(spiked water or ice cubes or?) which would explain ALL of them having crazy behavior...

This “War on Women” thing is so ridiculous...but I hope they continue to use it.

It makes them sound dated and out of touch with REAL women who work or raise families. They are so clueless; all they know about women is told to them by career hag politicians, lesbians, gay men and college girls majoring in Feminist Studies.

The REST of us real ladies are just saying HUH? Didn’t the women already WIN that war?? Hello??

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

They would learn more about women just by picking up an issue of Cosmo or Family Circle Magazine.

I was once hit between the eyes and did not know my nose was broken until the xray was taken, and while it hurt when it happened, it hurt more the next day when everything started to swell.

And about 24 hrs after it happened, the usual black eye appeared....

I would imagine if you went thru a windshield or got hit by a 2x4 it would be worse looking much sooner.

And like I said yesterday, when someone is banging your one and only brain against concrete-AND the BACK of your skull which is more sensitive, there are only 2 outcomes:

    Maiming or death...that’s it.

It is a MUST that you defend yourself because it is life threatening; smashing the head is not like breaking an arm-and I think that’s one reason they will lose.

And the author seems to think that getting your nose busted and having your head smashed repeatedly into the concrete by a larger, more aggressive stranger who is on top of you holding you down, is “threatening behavior”-well,I would like to know his/her definition of a beating??!!

Or is it only bad “behavior” when the aggressor is a black teen and the threatened is a “non-black”?

Threatening behavior makes it sound innocuous and something that you need to go to Anger Management classes for....when in reality, anytime you start banging someone’s head on the concrete while holding them down, is really an attempt to maime that person....or kill them.

There is no other outcome if the aggressor is not stopped somehow..and Zimmerman, like anyone with the urge to live, did what he had to do to protect his one and only head/brain/life...

I have to disagree; walking with Christ or in His foot steps, trying to be Christ-like, does translate into a moral existence...

IMHO, if you live with Him and for Him, you cannot help but have a certain moral stance...

    Interesting...you’re right.

They watched him get beat up...why didn’t they help him?

I would have. It wasn’t like Zimmerman was a total stranger and he was clearly in a bad spot with a 6+ft guy on top of him...

If they were too afraid to help, what does that say about Trayvon and how badly he was beating up Zimmerman?

(I know we all like to think of Trayvon as a little 12 yr old darling just trying to enjoy his Skittles) /s

If Trayvon really looked like the picture I see on the news, why didn’t an adult go out there and pull the 12 yr old off of Zimmerman and tell him he was being bad and they were going to call his parents? I mean he was just a little innocent, right? /s

yup...she bet on the wrong horse and even though I never really watched her show, a lot of women I know did- and they were not happy after she drank the kool aid...it was then that they woke up and realized she was putting race before brains and just supported Obama because he was black. It wasn’t like he had a great track record; he had no record at all! So they could clearly see her racism when she went all ga-ga for him for no reason other than color.

That was the beginning of the end for her....

Do they really think that every Conservative is distracted and breathlessly waiting for the next comment on this one subject??

Please!! We are a lot smarter than that! How ridiculous!

Look around here at FR...how many articles are about the Rosen/Ann subject...a few?

We just add it to the list of Democrat-Commie slip ups...all they did was tell us what they really think of women.....

And that would be that women who stay at home are useless and worthless and are too stupid to have an opinion about economics.

Women watched Oprah because her show was on free TV.

They got the magazine with a one time cheap sign up subscription and can’t afford to renew it at it’s regular price.

They don’t have Oprah in their home everyday telling them to buy what she buys, vote how she votes and care about what she cares about...they are sheep without a shepherd.

Out of sight, out of mind....that simple.

Stopped watching FOX last year when their coverage started to mimic everyone else’s...

And I am soooo dissapointed in Sarah Palin; she really led me on with the bus trip etc.
I know she never said she would run, but her actions said otherwise-at least to me.

I have lost faith in her; yes, she says all the right things, but we need actions, not just words.

She took the job at FOX and that was ok,she’s got to pay the bills, but when she did the Today Show (?) or whatever show that was, I couldn’t even watch.

I don’t know who she is anymore. She’s confused me...

Sarah and Newt together would be like a dream come true; why can’t Conservatives put their egos in a drawer and work together to save our country just like all the progressives work together to destroy it?

Happened to watch ‘The Talk’ today (my sister watches it) and the lesbian from the old ‘Roseann’ show said that Zimmerman shot Trayvon “3 TIMES”. And “how can you accidently shoot a kid 3 times?”

Where did this rumor/fact come from?? No one challenged her either....
