There's no reason to restate what this post is referencing as well all know the date. I have had it on my Outlook calendar for months to write this today. After much contemplation, here goes. I just want to make it clear that as of this day, 9/11/09, President Obama owns it all. No matter what happens, I will no longer hear it when people reference it being "Bush's Fault". On this day, we were hit and the left in this country blamed it on Bush. Not only did they blame it on Bush, they declared that officials from the...

So for weeks we on the right have been trying to get the folks who voted for Obama to see that they have been played. My conservative friends and I have been posting stories on Obama’s hypocrisy, flip-flops and truth-stretches at a really alarming rate. But today is different. Today it seems like everyone right of center is completely up in arms about Obama making a speech to the Islamic world from Egypt. Well, everyone but me. I’m not bothered about the speech primarily because Obama told us he was going to do this if he got elected. It was...

Oftentimes when I get into discussions about moral issues with folks who know of my zeal for the LORD, I get branded like I need scripture as a crutch - kinda’ like everything I believe has to come from the scriptures. While the scriptures are indeed the foundation of Christianity - Jesus building His church on the Rock and that Rock being Christ and Christ being the WORD based on John 1, we Christians also have to be able to make judgments based on our reasoning. There are some things that aren’t covered in the scriptures and then there are...

ANN ARBOR, MI – Proclaiming that times of crisis do not justify departure from the Constitution, Federal District Court Judge Lawrence P. Zatkoff allowed the lawsuit against Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and the Federal Reserve Board challenging the AIG bailout to proceed. The lawsuit was filed last December by the Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and attorney David Yerushalmi, an expert in security transactions and Shariah-compliant financing. In his well-written and detailed analysis issued yesterday, Judge Zatkoff denied the request by the Obama administration’s Department of Justice to dismiss the...

There's a whole lot of chatter about Obama's new decree on CAFE standards today and rightly so. I wonder why the old CAFE standards came from Congress and Obama just gets to decree his? Oh, well, so much for the Constitution. I'm curious about fuel standards because of simple personal experience. My dad had a 1987 Buick Skylark that we all fit into for normal trips to church and whatnot. It had a 2.5L 4cylinder engine, 4 doors, made about 30 mpg's (but my dad drives really, really slow), and got the job done. Granted, we had a full blown...

‘Having our cake and eating it, too’ is a mindset that all of us fall into from time to time, albeit in differing degrees. Recently a U.S. Senator discovered that the political party he had been a member of for over 40 years had finally started showing signs that support for him was over. The polls were showing that his challenger in the upcoming primary was going to unseat him and this Senator decided that loyalty to his constituents and his party was secondary to his power. Rather than retire with dignity, this Senator decided to change sides and join...

Below is the theme song for the left in America: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qcHohp4 Which is embedded at the site where I post my blogs. I remember last year asking the lefties that would constantly want to bash Bush what the heck they were going to do after the 2008 election. All these guys wanted to do, day in and day out, was talk about WMD, how they felt Bush was a dictator and a liar and blah, blah, blah. My response was, "well, he's going to be gone soon. What then?" No reply, just more Bush bashing! I figured, and maybe even...

On May 5th, the school my kids put on a show. No, not what you would think - it was a tribute to WWI veterans! Check out the videos: You can see them on my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/cedeweese or I have embedded them all here http://discuss.lifeinkc.com/showthread.php?t=843 Enjoy. I know I did.

I’m seeing a rash of marital problems among my friends and colleagues outside of the church lately and I am moved to speak again on marriage and family values. These are all first hand stories of spouses who have done terrible things to destroy their marriages – marriages that involved children. Children being hurt cuts me deeper than just about anything. It bothers me so bad that I have to shut out the details of these stories and even cut my communication with the parties involved in the divorces back. When the nightly news comes on, which always leads with...

We tried to tell them. Obama was not going to end the Iraq War at any point in his campaign. The rub on Bush was that it was discovered he planned on "dealing with" Saddam Hussein prior to being elected. You see, this is how it works. Often times, we use the phrase "If I were president, I would _______". Well, you'd think that if someone wins the Democrat nomination and is wildly popular would have had that thought a time or two. Since he was planning on ending the Iraq war, you'd think he and his advisers would have...

Those of us who support the grassroots efforts known as TEA Parties need to be careful not to allow those who disagree with us to redefine us. We are hearing now that assemblies are the tool of the Republican Party, right wing billionaires, Fox News, and single-issue fringe groups. The buzz today is to characterize these efforts as being all about taxes and hard-hearted greed of those who refuse to help those who are less fortunate. If we allow them to define us, we will lose. We need to remember what the demonstrations are all about because in spite of...

The church I belong to has a unique but incredibly scriptural tradition for this time of year. Most Christians know the stories of the night Jesus was betrayed and “The Passion” by heart , but many (including me for a long time) never took the time to read it in detail. From the scriptures, we can see exactly when Jesus was betrayed, when the Last Supper (Passover) took place, and when Jesus died and was resurrected. It all revolves around the spring Holy Days of the Old Testament, or, more appropriately, God’s Appointed Times. You can see a video series...

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. This used to be the most popular scripture in the entire world of Christianity. I can remember watching football games on TV and seeing men in the freezing cold with no shirts on holding up a sign that said, simply, John 3:16. When I was a kid, I had no clue what that meant. I hadn’t a clue about the numbering of the Bible or even an inkling of the gravity of that verse uttered...

There’s a whole lot of wrangling in the news today here in the US about bonuses and contracts and such. I thought it might be a nice idea to put forth this Christian’s opinion on how God views contracts which are synonymous with covenants in my opinion. The first promise God made that I can think of was that He promised not to allow anyone to kill Cain after Cain slew Abel and did God keep that promise? Yep (Genesis 4). The first covenant was with Noah and subsequently all mankind. It is found in Genesis 9 where God promised...

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri lawmakers have proposed lowering the nation's oldest minimum age requirement for carrying concealed weapons so that those allowed to drink alcohol can carry a gun.

I posted a thread on LifeInKC.com on 2/26/09 about how Obama intends to re-instate the so-called “assault weapon ban” that was in effect until W allowed it to expire. In the article, Eric Holder, Obama’s AG, cited the violence in Mexico as a chief reason for us to give up our guns here at home. Since reading that article, I have been steamed. Seriously, Holder’s angle is so incredibly wrong on so many levels that I may need a new keyboard before this rant is done. Usually I try to moderate my bluntness, but this time I am going to...

After sleeping on President Obama's address last night, I have come to the conclusion that he really thinks the last 10 years have been horrible. He must have referenced "changing from the failures of the last decade" at least three times, and his overall tone in regards to the past seems to indicate that times have been really, really bad for the last 10 or so years. So, this morning, I started making a list of the good things that have happened in the last 10 years, just off the top of my head: Technology - we've gone from dial...

I had a really hard time finding a snap-on OWB holster for the XD, so I am sharing a link with y'all in case anyone else is looking. I just got mine today, but it seems to be either the same or slightly better than my old Galco SSS. It took nearly 2 months for it to show up, so my guess is that they only make holsters after they receive an order for one. http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/2.htm

I'm in South San Francisco for the weekend due to business and a co-worker wanted to go shooting. I used the trusty yahoo yellow pages and found a range actually in SSF.Jackson Arms 125 Utah Ave South San Francisco, CA 94080 650-588-4209 To say we had a positive experience is an understatement. We each rented a pistol, me an XD and my co-worker an M&P, both in 9mm. We had to rent ear protection, buy their targets and ammo (100 rounds each of 9mm lead ball) and rent the range time. All total is was $60/each - not bad considering...

A Tennessee historian and author best known for his searches for the Ark of the Covenant – the box containing the Ten Commandments – is now challenging much of modern Christianity, claiming the traditional version of the faith has more in common with ancient paganism than actual biblical content. "Today, it is amazing what is being presented as Christianity," says Richard Rives of Lewisburg, Tenn., who has just released a book and DVD collection titled, "Time is the Ally of Deceit." "First century believers would have never accepted [today's practices]," the 56-year-old ark hunter told WND. "We must earnestly contend...

Very few of us have had the benefit of learning the Sabbath and the special type of Christianity that this group shares growing up. Most of us have had to learn it after figuring out what we had been taught growing up (or indoctrinated with, if you prefer) and what most Christians teach/believe is a little off of the mark, so to speak. Those of you who have grown up in this lifestyle probably have had to come to grips with it as well as you have heard and experienced other beliefs from your friends. My kids are pretty young...

After reading the entire Bible and establishing a baseline, there are a couple things one can to do further insulate oneself from “new truth”. If you haven’t read the entire Bible from cover to cover, please stop reading now. I have no desire to get people to believe “like me”, but rather what the Spirit wants to show you. The whole point of Christianity is faith in Christ, not faith in Chris. The first thing is to do a bunch more research and figure out what the first Christians believed and how things got to where they are. In other...

Since I wrote a little about avoiding "new truth", I figured I could chime in on ideas on how to avoid "new truth". Step one is a big one. You have to read the Bible. All of it. From Genesis to Revelation. Even though Genesis to Revelation may seem like beginning to end, it's not - well sort of. Genesis is “the beginning” and Revelation is “the end”, but Job is the oldest book of the Bible and neither the Old or New Testaments are in chronological order. In my opinion, reading the scriptures all the way through in the...

Samuele Bacchiocchi, a retired theology professor at Andrews University and one of the world’s leading proponents of the seventh-day Sabbath, died December 20, the Sabbath, following a two-year battle with cancer. He was 70 years of age and resided in Berrien Springs, Michigan. “Sam was best-known for his scholarship on the seventh-day Sabbath. He was a prolific writer, a tireless preacher, and appreciated as an energetic and passionate teacher. I’m going to miss my long-time friend and colleague,” said Keith Mattingly, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, who worked alongside Bacchiocchi in the Andrews University Department of Religion...

Like many weeks, I found myself in a small rural hospital waiting on parts to fix an instrument. So I sat down to write a sermon or a Bible study or something on the computer. An older gentleman struck up a conversation. The talk was about cell phones and technology. The old guy likes cell phones, but was clueless on computers. I told him that I was dependent on them for work and then I showed him my Bible software and how incredible that is, and how hard it would be to give that tool up. This is when I...

Once again, I find myself watching Fox News Sunday on Sunday morning. And once again, I am sad to see the departure of the Bush administration. I’m a fan of a couple of sports, tennis being one of them. My friends and I would watch a tournament on TV and then we would get that itch to play. So we would set a date for the weekend and keep watching the tourney on TV. There I sat, on the couch, watching Leyton Hewitt or Andre Agassi wail on these balls, sending the shots from corner to corner at over 100...

It's time to start reflecting on the past year, and I want to kick mine off with some admissions on places where I was flat wrong. Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs - boy, did I get on that train. When I found out that those little bulbs operated at roughly 1/3 the wattage of normal bulbs and they lasted for 5 years, I ran out and outfitted the entire house with them. I'm not some earth-worshiping, tree-hugging, enviro-nazi, by the way. I'm just a guy who loves technology, electronics, and efficiency, and who doesn't like to change light bulbs. One place...

For I have taken all this to my heart and explain it that righteous men, wise men, and their deeds are in the hand of God. Man does not know whether it will be love or hatred; anything awaits him. (Ecc 9:1) Lately, more than ever, every print news story talks of the current crisis and pending doom. Each news cast showcases some segment of the population that is ‘hardest hit’. From women and children to minorities to some portion of the manufacturing sector, everyone is either hurting, struggling, or about to be. Even the news reports that break into...

... and I'm not ashamed to say it. I watched Fox News Sunday today, which is a bit of a routine for me, and made some observations. David Axelrod was on in his new role as Obama's pundit. Oh wait, that's the same as his old role, I forgot. I sat astonished as he recited the exact same talking points on the economic crisis as he was spouting prior to Obama winning the election. Well, a whole lot of us were either thinking or saying out loud a few weeks ago that if Obama actually won, then he wouldn't know...

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. It seems that every election cycle since the media coined ‘assault weapon ban’ was first enacted has been ‘the most important election in the history of mankind’ according to us second amendment proponents. Rhetoric simply can’t be kept up so high before people become numb to it. The Supreme Court just declared the second amendment to be applicable to individuals, not states, so you may be asking yourself, “why are these guys still...

I'm rebuilding my personal website using iWeb. The pages have audio files of sermons as well as the text of the sermon or the notes. The text does not load until the audio file finishes streaming. How can I change this? Also, the audio files are mp3's but the site still requires users to download Quicktime. Is there a setting in iWeb to allow WMP to hear the files? Lastly, the users cannot save the streams unless they upgrade to Quicktime Pro (for money). Does anyone know how to disable that and allow visitors to download the files? Thanks in...

And about that time there was no little a stir about the Way. For a certain silversmith named Demetrius was making silver temples of Artemis, providing not a little trade for the craftsmen. And assembling the workmen about such things, he said, Men, you know that from this trade is our wealth. And you see and hear that, not only at Ephesus, but almost all Asia, this Paul having persuaded, he has perverted a huge crowd, saying that those which are made with hands are no gods. (Acts 19:23-26) The entire exchange is really noteworthy and it runs the rest...

The battery in a MacBook Pro is only good for about a year. If you have a MacBook Pro, get the battery replaced in the 11th month or you will have to shell out $150. Symptom, power meter says 25% left and computer shuts down. Will not turn on again until you plug it in.

You shall not make to yourselves any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them. For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation of those that hate me, and showing mercy to thousands of those that love Me and keep My commandments. (Exodus 20: 4-6) For some reason, the folks who...

1Th 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. Diana (my wife) and I are Generation X’ers, or at least that’s what our generation was called at the time. Whether its our age, how we grew up, or because we are also from the west coast, we love the X Games. Whenever we get the chance to see Travis Pastrana or Shaun White throw down some crazy moves at an altitude that a normal person needs an aircraft to attain, we are there. Since we have kids now, “there” means “in front...

Jesus Was an Iconoclast During the days of the Byzantine Empire , a group of religious zealots arose in the Orthodox Church known as iconoclasts. Their self-appointed job was to go to various religious sites and smash what they called idols, which to them were various forms of religious art that depicted saints and the Deity.Iconoclasm in our world has come to have a different meaning. Its broader meaning refers to the practice of forcefully challenging, even destroying, established beliefs or institutions. Jesus was an iconoclast because he loved to challenge his day’s conventional thinking. He challenged the Pharisees’...

Why do we Love the Underdog? Mat 20:16 "So the last shall be first, and the first last." I’m pretty sure that I quoted that scripture at least a little bit out of context, but it is the best one I could think of to tie into this essay. There’s a funny thing about American culture, we simply love the underdog. Even when watching our favorite sports team in the midst of a decisive victory, part of us always wants the losing team to put up a good fight or make a good showing. There are countless movies made...

Hammering a Stake into the Ground Dan 12:4 "But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase." I was talking about doctrines with a brother in the Church of God, Kansas City and he gave me some sound advice. His advice was not to be too quick to hammer a stake into the ground when working out my beliefs. He said, “Leave yourself some wiggle room because what you believe today may not be what you believe tomorrow”.This is good...

The Truth Will Set You Free A few blocks from where I sit is a thoroughfare named after a certain Todd George, a respected citizen of Lee's Summit , Missouri from generations past. Not only was he a civic leader, he was also, as legend has it, one of the big shots in the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. (See page 170 of Truman, by biographer David McCullough).Thankfully, this community has put away that sordid attitude, but local legend also has Todd George crossing paths with one Harry S Truman when the latter was running for office...
