Someone thought it would be great to give this woman authority of a child's education.

I've long ago said it's time to dump public education. I'll pay for the right not to have my kids subjected to this nonsense. This woman and the like need to be flushed and publically humiliated.

Good luck proving that. No employer would be dumb enough to admit as much.

One would imagine that having Medicaid would improve health outcomes given that it removes a price barrier to obtain care. The problem—as with all government programs—is that it removes the personal incentive to seek out the benefits of such a program and to use them wisely.

As a physician, I routinely see medicaid patients who gripe and complain when something is not 100% free. There’s no co-pay for services in my state, which annoys me to no end—not so much out of lost revenue but because it disincentivizes a personal investment in care, a need to get better or any economical thinking in making healthcare decisions.

I look at the calculus of decision-making in my own family, and foremost in our line of thinking is what can most economically get the job done. This doesn’t even make a blip on the radar for Medicaid patients.

In my field we are seeing more and more physicians either moving to conglomerate community-model care or moving to private, cash-only practice. I predict that this will continue to be the trend, with the better care obviously being offered on the free market system.

Funny how the price of plastic surgery and dermatological care has actually decreased over time, whereas other fields have continued to rise.

All the while his policies continue to fail. The restrctions on businesses continue to mount (and why conservatives don't call him to the carpet for this as a tax on the American people is beyond me--a regulation is a tax at best two steps removed).

I grew up in a public school. My mom taught in a public school. I have no intention on sending my kids to public schools and will be making sacrifices to put them in parochial schools. A fundamental part of understanding one's world comes through understanding scripture and through personal relationship in Christ. If our public schools are so interested in removing this element, I have every intention of removing myself and my children from them and consider them enemies of a proper education and proper values. The backward and failed methods of public education have caused enough damage to our society.

A student in a class who received a letter saying cease or desist and continues to act out deserves what she has coming to her. It’s one thing to move up the administration to try to get recourse, but to attempt to routinely disrupt classwork to the detriment of other students simply shows a lack of decorum.

I don’t see how getting a C- in a course prevents her from becoming a licensed therapist, either. Simply retake the course... I don’t think any reasonable person could assume a C- would completely tank a career path, especially something as generally non-competitive as being a licensed therapist. One would also have to question whether Ms. Thode had the mental stability to become a licensed therapist given her obvious inability to civally engage with those who had views differing from her own. That whole countertransference issue might just well do her in...

Is her economic loss really 1.3-million? Well, I guess that would depend on how much the expected career benefits of being a licensed therapist might be minus the unemployement benefits she will receive with that degree in “human development.” ;)

I’d pass immigration reform: severely limit it and create a system like Australia’s that only brings in those filling jobs in needed sectors with mastery of the English language.

Actually, both Chile and Argentina have higher homicide rates than the US, though they are the closest in Latin America.

The US has 5.2 homicides per 100,000, and Argentina has 5.4 while Chile has 8.1.

It’s also interesting to combat some of the lies I’ve seen spewed by others about the US having the highest homicide rate in the world, which simply shows a lack of any sort of knowledge on anything.

There is not a single nation that I’m aware of located south of the United States that has a lower murder rate than what we have in this country.

It's logical why this would happen; it's easier to turn feelings of guilt and fear outward onto others. When you feel an intolerable emotion inwardly, you turn it outward.

This obviously does not include medical school faculty, who while more liberal than their private colleagues, are not at all on the whole liberal.

Obama got dogwhipped in this guy’s county, barely clearing 30% of the vote. The only counties that went to Obama in Idaho were those controlled by the Hollywood-types in Sun Valley and the university—and only barely so—in Moscow.

Franklin County in the southern end of the state may have put forth the most lopsided victory for Romney in anywhere in the country, 5,195 to 325. That’s 93% for those of you in Rio Linda.

This would be a beautiful thing in a number of states.

Oregon and Washington state would both be ideal candidates to have their electoral votes divided. Both are completely red with the exception of portions of the coast.

State IDs should contain a swiped code (like a credit card) that requires them to be swiped and may only be used once during an election, with all voter information being stores in a database.

Romney had the right idea in using cards for worker ID cards. This idea should be extended to include voter ID, as well.

And this has proven far more true than I ever believed when I first starting observing it.

That image sums it up. I had hoped that under a Republican House, Senate, and President we could have completely changed the immigration sytem—limiting its scope, shutting down the border, weeding out those here illegally, and creating a system based like that in Australia, i.e. based on merit, ability to speak English, utility, youthfulness, and need.

Instead we let in every peasant who wants to break the law, undermined our schools, and are stuck with a nation divided around language and culture.

The Rats wanted divisions; they got it.

It may be interesting to see what happens as the unions begin to collapse and die across the midwest as the manufacturing jobs move down south or overseas. You have a very white population there that has bucked the trend and continued to vote Rat.

As the dollar continues to fall apart, we shall see if the trends continue. The Minnesotas, Wisconsins, and Michigans of the world may begin to lean Republican again simply due to the failing influence of the unions.

It certainly hasn’t happened yet.
