You make a very good point. A safe town is a well-controlled town. But, I’m not sure I want to live in Condition Red 24/7. I think that rural and suburban life is the happy medium between a nanny city and a war zone (i.e. modern frontier).

I had a liberal pastor ask me that once. I asked him how he would would feel if he discovers that their motives are far worse as they are beating him to death or raping his wife in front of him? He said he was shocked at my bluntness. I told him that crime is crime, and it is rarely a good experience for the victim.

Masters degrees are for people who already have a degree. Why doesn’t anyone ever do this for an Associates or Bachelors? People today don’t have any idea how wonderful memories of simple times like that are. All they have today is technology and programmed activities. Today, a “good meal” worth remembering is usually described by how many hundreds of dollars it cost.

He was born in 1896 and was 48 when my mother was born and 66 when I was born. As a child, I spent my summers with my grandparents, so I spent a lot of time with him. He died when I was 20. His life story was one of a man who did what he had to do to provide for his family and there wasn’t a selfish bone in his body. He wasn’t a saint and he could be a real SOB when he needed to, but I’ve never met a greater man.

I think I already did. Subsistence farming is a hit-or-miss way of life. A bad year means a winter of starvation. I’m sure that they didn’t all rush off to the mines on the day they opened. Each man had to have a personal crisis that was big enough to convince him to go take that job in the mines. After all, no one who is used to farming the earth under a blue sky will go into a mine unless he has too.

The Irish, German, and Italian immigrants had a similar problem. The cities of the early 20th century were sh!tholes. These people came to America looking for open land and freedom and they found themselves in a city of open sewers and gang violence.

My grandfather left his WV mining family in 1918 when he signed up “for the duration” in WW1 (and fortunately for me and a multitude of his descendants, he never even got on a ship to France before the Armistice was signed). You are very correct that the welfare and whining safety nets have destroyed that kind of hard-working spirit.

Really? Are you that uninformed and ignorant of how the world worked before Starbucks, cell phones, and Interstate highways? Many of them were subsistence farmers before the mines opened. The rest were recent immigrants who were given an opportunity to escape the poverty, crime, and filth of their Port of Entry city. And even though mine work sucked, it was far better than what the average immigrant had back in NYC or Boston.

America was a much more dangerous place then than it is now and people took dangerous jobs to feed their family. Sometimes those jobs were more of a curse than a blessing, but they did put food on the table every night.

They were born there. It was the only regular work a person could find in those valleys. People didn’t have the mobility we enjoy today, and those miners didn’t make enough to save up for a bus ticket to another place.

But, these were all good people who worked hard, loved their children, and fought for this country when called. You may hate labor, but the men who worked those mines were better than any middle manager, stock trader, or CEO in existence today.

I’m certain that the famous photo of Obama “overseeing” the Bin Laden raid would have disappeared if the raid had gone the way of Desert One and the new narrative would have been than military commanders acted on their own initiative. I’d bet there’s a photo in a trash can of The Won “overseeing” the Benghazi debacle if it had turned out better.

Its so real that they have to change its name every couple years and constantly revise their doom and gloom scenarios.

Of course, climate change is real. Climate changes. That’s a natural process. The planet has been really cold and it has been really hot. It survives and life adapts.

But humans do not change it!

If this comes down to a violent “Reset” and, by some miracle, we aren’t the ones marching the Death March, we better be prepared to take the same to the enemy that we beat. Otherwise, we’ll have to do it again in a decade. And again. And again.

Personally, the 50/50 split in our country is proof that the masters in the shadows do not want a violent reset. They will just guide us into a steadily decreasing standard of living until they have us where they think we should be. Then, they’ll confiscate the wealth of those who were allowed to accumulate all the wealth during the decline and, voila, we are communist.

In the Navy, its called “making smoke”. The enemy knows where you are and has your range, so you throw up a bunch of smoke so you can maneuver around and change the range and bearing enough to throw off their aim for short time. If you have screening vessels, they make the smoke so they become the targets and the high-value ships get away.

Benghazi and the obvious Watergate/Iran Contra parallels has the regime so shaken up that they’re willing to sacrifice loyal IRS lapdogs who obeyed their master to get out from under our guns. They’re even willing to verify the “conspiracy theories” that the government is targeting conservative groups.

We can deal with the IRS after the impeachment. Ignore the smoke!!

Tebow received a lot of media flak when he was going to speak at a Liberty University convocation, but he came anyway. So, there had to be more to the story in this case.

I pray that Tim Tebow believes that he has a higher calling than throwing a ball to tattooed thugs and making billionaires richer while cities that are broke are forced to pay for stadiums out of taxpayer dollars to serve the NFL. I’ve read most of their books, and Rand makes a good case for refuting Progressivism but her dream world is a harsh place of misery for most. That’s why her books refute progressives so easily. Because they envision the same world of misery, only with different masters and slaves.

Case in point: a close friend just did a HARP re-fi. He and his wife make about $250k/yr. They own a home that is not underwater, and they can easily pay all their bills. They did the HARP and it shot through the system in under a month.

They saved so much money that they are using the excess to buy a beach condo.

“Low level employees” at the IRS means civil service. Civil service means affirmative action hires. Affirmative action hires means people from the Democratic voting bloc.

Ann Coulter’s column today said it best. Salvation isn’t just for US citizens. A Mexican can find salvation in Mexico as easy (and probably easier) that he can in the US as a criminal. To say that we can only help Mexicans by allowing them to invade our country makes God very small. They should be praying that Mexico improves instead.
