UPS pilots authorize strikeThursday May 12, 9:24 am ET CHICAGO (Reuters) - United Parcel Service Inc.'s (NYSE:UPS - News) pilots voted to authorize their union to call a strike, the Independent Pilots Association said on Thursday. The union said more than 99 percent of its members voted to authorize its five-pilot executive board to call a strike. Of the 2,462 eligible crew members, 2,371 pilots participated in the vote and 2,356 voted for the authority. Fifteen voted against. The union said it is in its third year of talks for a new contract.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota's Randy Moss was fined $10,000 Thursday by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct during the celebration of his fourth-quarter touchdown catch last week _ in which he pretended to pull down his pants and moon the Green Bay crowd. The group intends to delay gathering signatures against Keys until November so that his recall election would coincide with the regularly scheduled spring election April 2, said Bill Geist, a district parent and a recall leader. Mayor Sue Bauman has joined critics of the Madison School Board's policy on the Pledge of Allegiance. In a statement Wednesday, Bauman said she disagrees with the board's decision. "It is important that Madison residents and others understand that this policy is the Board of Education's attempt to respond to the new state requirement," she said.
