The time for this is now. Its been too long. Each slave’s descendant gets their fraction of the slave from whom they descended’s “40 acres and a mule” retroactively. Adjusted for inflation is fine WITH THE PROVISO that back taxes are also due, adjusted for inflation. So you either owe the nation a hell of a tax bill that surely exceeds your takings, or we can compromise and you can shut the hell up forever. Pay up or shut up.

Im not a huge Romney fan - but if Im advising his campaign, Id be screaming to disavow and condemn any discussions of Reverend Wright and Obama’s Islamic background - hear me out - because the left has tried the Race card with Trayvon, and failed, The Women card with contraception, and failed, the Hispanic card with Sherrif Joe, and failed, and the gay card, and failed - all as an attempt to throw tar babies that distract from discussions of Obamas failures that effect all classes of people. Blacks are walking away from him, hispanics are, stay at home moms are, and everyone who believes in heterosexual marriage are. The Catholics and Jews are. BUT - if Romney doesnt come out and say discussion of Wright and Obama’s Muslimhood is off-limits, he opens the door for the other side to have a detailed discussion of Mormanism - which spells trouble in the Bible belt (Republican Country) and would succeed where the other attempts have failed. A detailed conversation about the three levels of heaven, inheriting a planet to populate as Adam did, Joseph Smith’s origins, The book of Moroni (the egyptian book of the dead), people living on the sun, etc etc - would be DISASTEROUS. Different religions being in the Oval is one thing, and the American people have evolved enought to where they weren’t morally opposed to non-Christian (Lieberman) in the White House - but an expose on the roots of LDS would make it look more like a devout Scientologist in the White House - bad, bad, bad.

If Im advising the financier of the efforts, Id say the same - and if it MUST be discussed, break the issues out into separate ads - so that Romney can condemn the Wright piece and endorse the MASSIVE amount of information that doesnt discuss the Chicago Church or BHOs Islamic roots.

The Tea Party folks havent done much with all of the energy thy developed. Back in OCT they should’ve mobilized to recall all democrat senators / congressmen whose states provide for that measure. One successful recall would be a serious shot over the bow. Sucessfully recall a Senator, and it’d be over. This Jersey thing is too little, too late for healthcare. Do it anyway, nationwide. You think if the socialists get healthcare, they’ll stop at that. Recall now. Then beat the others in November.

  • Who was the drag on the GOP ticket?

The drag was not a person, issue or event. these are all secondary. the drag was campaign finance reform and McCain’s stubborn selfish position on campaign spending. If you were to double McCain’s expenditures on GOTV, issue ads, pavement pounders and campaign presence - still keeping McCain at a financial disadvantage to Obama, Indiana, Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, and Virginia would have gone differently. Probably would have coattailed a few legislators with him. Add Private organization issue adds lost by McCain/Feingold - and it is clear. double McCains campaign spending in the last few months and double issue ads and the idiotic punditry would be chatting now about how McCain’s issue positions were what the american people really wanted, despite the massive turnout. McCain stood in front of the claymore he set when he linked up with Feingold and took out several friendlies with him.

someone send Bill a louffa and tell him to shut the hell up. First, in order to appear “fair and balanced” he concedes that which he cannot concede in debates - things like “We all know now Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction.” Total crap. So as not to appear partisan. Hey - if one party is right and the other is democrat - it is what it is. Then, after going after Daily Kos, deservedly, he finds some crap to throw FR under the bus....and part of it is flat out untrue....yep, send him a louffa and a telephone calling card.

notice the S at the end of “Bush Bashers.” Speaking to the collective that meet that definition - and they are obvious. “You” in the eglish language can and, in this case, is being used in the plural. The broad vague plural to whom it refers. If that’s you (singular) - then wear it. If it isnt - find a worthy post to vent your righteous indignation. One that applies to you (singular). As for GWOT - the point stands - the choices were Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Tenet, and Powell (wolfowitz and others not to shabby either - even advice from Kissinger) - Or Gore, Albright, Fuerth, Maybe Tenet, Cohen (or Clark), and God knows what other pacifist amateurs. MMMM. For a guy who wears the uniform - the choice is obvious and immediate. Then and now. Agree on the detractions, but the fact that it was the best choice, by orders of magnitude, are obvious.

How bout that you pissant Bush bashers. In retrospection over all the dissapointments, Who would Gore or Kerry have appointed to SCOTUS? How would the response to 9/11 or the ongoing GWOT have been run? Many other things to add, but that alone is enough to say that voting for the President was the right thing to do - then and now.

I held on to GWB because of the tax policy, pending supreme court justice nominations, respect for the office and the military, anf coattails.

Delivered on ALL points. In the cool-headed analysis 10 years from now (when we still have two Bush appointed conservatives and abortion is illegal), it was the right decision in spades.

Simple. Abbas retreats to West Bank and divorces his govt from HAMAS elements. Hamas occupies Gaza. US and Israel recognize Abbas govt as the only lawful, legitimate, democratic govt of “Palestine.” US and Israel bomb the hell out of Gaza, destroy HAMAS. Now land negotiating position for two state solution is strengthened for the Israelis, because If the palestinian govt gets ANY of the Gaza, it’d be more than they had (because now defeated HAMAS took it away from them). The Palestinian ability to negotiate without being schizophrenic is strengthened because HAMAS is destroyed, so cooler heads dont have to be constantly looking over their shoulder.

I love it when a plan comes together.

administratively and legally, “R” is R, whether its IRR, Drilling reserve (SMCR or IMA), or AR. Always subject to administrative and legal action. The only limitation for that reservist who commits a crime while not under orders is the jusrisdiction of the particular legal authority. Typically its a civiilan jurisdiction, but there are scenarios where it is military or even federal (in the case of the non-marine passing himself off as a retired officer or the reservist going to a parade wearing medals he doesnt rate).
