  • Should we send Sen. Nelson 30 pennies?

Since he sold out the country perhaps we should send him 30 pennies. Now I know it should be 30 silver coins but we don't make them any more and he and his ilk not only sold out the country but devalued our currency. so 30 pennies seems appropriate.

The White House has asked people to send them fishy material. I think we should oblige them. Send them every fishing site in the world along with anything that mentions fish. Shame they couldn't be subscribed to mailing lists that involve fishing and fish. Of course the downside is the do get your ip address and an email address. The site is probably robust enough so it won't crash. I suppose that you could also send them any material produced by the Democrats as fishy as well

This article at wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moroccan-American_Treaty_of_Friendship is totally inaccurate and helps the lie that Obama told about it in his speech in Cairo about our long friendship with Islamic nations. This was the treaty to prevent our ships from being attacked by the Barbary Pirates and was soon abrogated by them and resulted in the war against the Barbary Pirates. Can someone please correct it.

Earlier I asked the question about the law that the Bush administration used to hang their hats on to define torture. Someone provide the answer and since it's important and passed in 1994 when the Democrats dominated both House of Congress and Bill Clinton was president I thought I'd make it easy for everyone to read. Also the US during this same time period also ratified the UN Convention on Torture with reservations. The reservations are shown below from Wikipedia. These totally blow the meme the DemoRats and the MSM are using and the info should be widely disseminated. 18...

The media and the DemoRats like to bring up the Geneva Conventions when the issue of torture comes up and give its protections for lawful combatants to unlawful combatants. Those that disagree with them point to something that congress passed which defines torture and the legal definition is substantially different than the everyday meaning of the word torture. Does any one know and could post the actual law in question so we can read it. Also when it was passed so we can determine who was in charge in congress when it was passed. I suppose we also should know...

This is simply unbelievable. The Miniatur Wunderland model railroad in Hamburg, Germany is the largest in the world, covering 16,146 square feet of space with more than 10,000 train cars running around its 6.8 miles of HO scale track. Now, the makers of this huge layout have created a video that gives you a jaw-dropping look at the vast scope of this intricate work of art. Its construction started in 2000, and is still underway, with a tiny airport due for completion by the end of this year. This is just the beginning — there are plans to double to...

I seem to remember a procedure in the Senate that enables a single senator to require that the bill be read into the Congressional Record in it's entirety word for word and there is nothing the majority can do. They did it a couple of years ago and it took days to read and it was shorter than this bill. I don't know if it applies to conference reports. Is my memory correct and can it be used on this bill?

Tom Daschle earned over $2,000,000 in consulting fees from Leo Hendery's firm over the last couple of years. I was wondering if Tom Daschle had anything to do with legislation that would have helped Mr. Hindery or his firms when Sen. Daschle was the Majority Leader, Minority Leader or just a plain senator. That's a lot of dollars in a very short while for consulting even with Daschle's connections to the Democratic power brokers in the House and Senate. With all the polls done by major firms and major media outlets I was wondering if they had remained consistent on the internals or have they been altering them as we come up to the election. In a lot of the earlier polls they were getting 15-30% more Democrats than Republicans and almost as many if not more independents as Republicans. As the election gets closer are they shifting to a closer balance of Republicans to Democrats? Are they playing other games? The polls would need to be compared to others done by that same firm (Gallup to Gallup, etc.)...

I haven't seen the language but I'll bet there is a lot of stuff in there that would be very unpalatable if it ever saw the light of day. I've repeatedly heard the claim that Obama's mother was on food stamps and welfare, but I've never been able to find out the time period that this occurred. It couldn't have been in Hawaii when Obama was a boy since food stamps weren't available in Hawaii at the time. During a nationally televised news program today, This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Barack Obama disclosed he once considered serving in the military. This is a very transparent move to bolster his national security credentials and occurred the day after a release of a Greenberg-Quinlan-Rosner poll that showed a widening credibility gap that the Democratic Party has with the voters over national security issues. Obama is also running against John McCain, whose compelling personal story derives, in part, from being an heir to a long line of sailors who defended America, and from his own military service during the Vietnam War....

With over two decades in the Senate, John McCain of Arizona has developed quite the resume with respect to technology legislation. BetaNews' Ed Oswald takes a look at where McCain stands on some of the most high-profile issues. Perhaps simply because he is 72 years of age, Sen. John McCain is often the brunt of jokes that presume he knows little or nothing about modern technology, consumer electronics, or the Internet. Yet McCain's record tells a different story. After reading the two new bio's by Bernstein and Gerth & Van Natta as well as watching the various debates and press coverage I began to wonder who is more Nixonion Hillary Clinton or Richard Nixon himself. With her wiretapping, enemies lists and other activities prior to being elected as president I think it's Hillary. She doesn't have the 5 O'clock shadow but she does have the jowls.
  • Is Mayor's Disappearance Tied to Scoop About False Green Beret Claim?

Did The Press of Atlantic City, N.J., help drive Mayor Bob Levy into hiding? The mayor, whose falsified claim that he was a Green Beret in Vietnam was exposed by the paper last year, has been essentially missing since Friday. Some wonder if that story, which has not been disputed, sent him on the road to troubled times. Levy's office reported Friday that he had taken a medical leave, his third this year, but did not disclose why or where he went. Many in the casino capital of the east point to his odd behavior ever since the Press revealed...
  • Max Cleland add run by Saxby Chambliss

I got tired about hearing how bad this ad was and how unfair it was. Bill Clinton was wagging his finger again about it in defense of the MoveOn.org General Betray Us ad so I decided to see if it's on line. YouTube had it and it's really not that bad. It doesn't question his patriotism at all nor does it compare Cleland to Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein. It did question his leadership and gave specific votes to back up his commitment to supporting the governments actions as opposed to what he was saying to voters. The YouTube link...

Idaho Statesman reporter Dan Popkey is all over the news this week, following publication of his long-awaited outing piece on Sen. Larry Craig. Roll Call beat the Idaho paper to the punch with its report earlier this week on Craig’s arrest and guilty plea stemming from the now infamous restroom incident. But Popkey had spent months investigating the rumors of Craig’s homosexuality, which date back to at least 1982. In December, Popkey visited me at my Blade office in D.C. to ask whether I knew anything about Craig’s sexual orientation. We spent about an hour talking about his assignment, which...

Ayad Allawi, the former interim prime minister of Iraq, hinted in a television interview last weekend at one of the war's least understood turning points: America's decision not to challenge Iranian intervention in Iraq's January 2005 elections. "Our adversaries in Iraq are heavily supported financially by other quarters. We are not," Allawi told CNN's Wolf Blitzer. "We fought the elections with virtually no support whatsoever, except for Iraqis and the Iraqis who support us." Behind Allawi's comment lies a tale of intrigue and indecision by the United States over whether to mount a covert-action program to confront Iran's political meddling....
  • Federal Reporters Shield Law

Rep Mike Pence, Republican of Indiana and Rick Boucher, Democrat of Virginia have introduced a federal shield law which in general I oppose. I wrote him an email indicating a change that I'd like to see if in fact he went ahead with the law. Here were my suggestions: If you are really going ahead with the shield law then at least change the standard for libel and slander when the media utilizes it. Right now there is a very high bar for someone to win a judgment against the media when the information they provide is wrong and damaging....

I'm just about finished with Rowan Scarborough's fine book, Sabotage: America's Enemies Within the CIA. It's highly recommended. Paints a very different picture than what the MSM provides. Lots of detail Here is the material from the inside flap of the book: "From the Inside Flap How Bush-hating CIA Bureaucrats Are Sabotaging the War on Terror Since the attacks on September 11, 2001, intelligence collection has become the number-one weapon in the effort to defeat al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden. A plot penetrated is an attack stopped. And to the outside observer, the CIA has performed well as a...

The Manchester, N.H., Republican Committee has come up with a unique way of raising funds. It is hosting a "Machine Gun-Shoot" fund-raiser where, for $25, donors will be allowed to fire Uzis and M-16s. "It's a fun day. It's a family day," said organizer Jerry Thibodeau. "It's quite exciting." Democrats charge the event is in poor taste.
