As many of my FRiends know, I was considering adopting a rescue dog named Buford. The foster brought him by yesterday and at the time he was generally just checking everything out. He is a coon hound and all nose! He is a very beautiful dog, so I'll try to post his pic in the following post. The Vet estimates his age to be between 3 and 4. He is about 75 lbs, but seems much stronger than that! He seems to be a very smart dog and he does like to be around people. He makes it very evident...

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The heirs of the British general known for brutal attacks in South Carolina during the Revolutionary War are auctioning flags won in key battles. South Carolina is mounting an effort to bring home flags British Lt. Col. Banastre Tarleton took from a bloody battlefield five miles south of the state line in South Carolina. It's a place that some say became an emotional turning point that fixed American hearts against the British enemy. Accounts of what happened on May 29, 1780, vary, but the commonly held view is that American Col. Abraham Buford thought his 350 Virginia...

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Gen. John Buford's bravery at the battle of Gettysburg was little noted nor long remembered in his native Kentucky. "He is one of those all but forgotten heroes," said John Trowbridge, director of the Kentucky Military Museum in Frankfort. "But we would never have won the battle without Buford's quick thinking and quick action on the first day." Rebel infantry outnumbered and outgunned Buford's Yankee cavalry. Even so, the horsemen in blue stalled the Confederates long enough for Gen. George G. Meade's Union Army of the Potomac to organize a defense and ultimately to win the Civil...

FORGY AIDS BUFORD FOE IN RACE FOR CONGRESS By Al Cross The Campaign Trail is an update on this year's elections. Larry Forgy, the three-time Republican candidate for governor, resurfaced last week as campaign co-chairman for Lexington lawyer Bryan Coffman, one of three candidates in the GOP primary for Congress in the 6th District. Forgy said in an interview that he is supporting Coffman because he is more conservative than the best-known Republican candidate, state Sen. Tom Buford of Nicholasville. He said another reason is that Buford collected money for Democratic Rep. Ben Chandler in the February special election in...

SO FAR, EIGHT SAY THEY'D RUN FOR 6TH DISTRICT SEAT IN CONGRESS By Jack Brammer HERALD-LEADER FRANKFORT BUREAU FRANKFORT - If U.S. Rep.
