"My concern is that the negligence of a few will adversely affect the majority. I've long been a believer in the "look at the solution, not the problem" theory. In this case, the solution is clear. We will have to leave borders behind and go for global unity when it comes to financial stability."

Today conservatives and Republicans are often not the same. However, they definitely have one thing in common: They desperately want to win the White House in 2016. For Democrats this election is important, but for Republicans and conservatives 2016 is not just crucial to the survival of this country and constitutional liberty - it is the ball game. That means Republicans must nominate a candidate who we know will govern according to constitutional principles, who is capable of drawing a clear contrast with Hillary Clinton and the Democrats on the issues of importance in today's political environment, and who has...

Like many others here, I don't have cable. So I rely on FR for unfiltered breaking news. And there where quite a few good and informative threads last night about the Paris attacks. Thanks to all the posters for that! Unfortunately, those threads were also peppered with distracting and silly attempts at humor. So here's my humble request. When the news is breaking - and serious - can we stay on-topic and avoid posting distractions?

Iranian officials have not confirmed the development yet, but Reuters said Pentagon officials have confirmed the report.
  • Why is it always "BREAKING NEWS" on all the news channels?

    01/15/2015 4:08:30 PM PST · by SamAdams76 · 53 replies
Used to be that breaking news was a major event. You'd be sitting home watching a television show and suddenly the screen would flash "SPECIAL REPORT". At that moment, your heart would just about stop. Then you would be shown a newsroom full of typewriters going clickety clack and men with white shirts and skinny ties with their sleeves rolled up would be dashing back and forth in the background clutching sheaves of paper. The camera would then slowly pan to a solemn news anchor as the narrator gravely intones "We interrupt this broadcast to bring you a special news...

The Supreme Court has ruled that Hobby Lobby and other closely held for-profit corporations can opt out of the Affordable Care Act's provisions for no-cost prescription contraception in most health insurance plans. The companies' owners had objected on the grounds of religious freedom. The ruling affirms a Hobby Lobby victory in a lower court and gives new standing to similar claims by other companies...

H/T Eric Worrall and Breitbart – Obama’s inability to make a decision on Keystone has finally yielded a result – Canada has made the decision for him. Breitbart reports Canada has just approved the Enbridge Northern Gateway Project – a major pipeline to ship Canadian oil to Asia. The Canadian oil will still be burnt – in Asia, instead of America. All the jobs and energy security which Canadian oil could have delivered to America, will instead be delivered to Asia.
  • Unrequited love could be dangerous

    05/16/2014 3:47:38 PM PDT · by HalTa · 7 replies
Our slobbering in love American media could be treading on dangerous grounds with their passionate love affair with Barack Obama. After all, unrequited love is more likely to breed contempt than to lead to return affection. Those "tingles up the leg" are probably not a shared feeling. No I believe Obama's reaction could be likened more to the female Praying Mantis' love making. Entice the male mantis into passionate love making , then with the male totally involved in the act, casually bite off his head and enjoy a good meal while the males body continues with the act. Very...

    Telegraph (U.K.) ^ | July 26, 2009 | Roger Dobson
Researchers concluded that levels of sexual desire were higher in women who were moderate drinkers of red wine than in their counterparts who preferred other alcoholic drinks, or were teetotal. One theory put forward by the team of Italian doctors who carried out the study is that chemical compounds found in red wine may improve sexual functioning by increasing blood flow to key areas of the body. The researchers said: "While this finding needs to be interpreted with some caution, it nevertheless suggests a potential relationship between red wine consumption and better sexuality." In the project, described as the first...

According to satellite and radar evidence, he said, the flight then changed course and could have continued flying for a further seven hours. He said the "movements are consistent with the deliberate action of someone on the plane." The plane disappeared a week ago with 239 people on board. The Kuala Lumpur-Beijing flight last made contact with air traffic control over the South China Sea to the east of Malaysia, about one hour after take off. Mr. Razak told a news...

Russia and the US have "no common vision" on the crisis in Ukraine, Russia's foreign minister has said after talks with his US counterpart. However Sergei Lavrov added that his meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry had been "constructive". Mr Kerry said the US was "deeply concerned" about Russian troop deployments on Ukraine's eastern border and in Crimea. The two foreign ministers held six hours of talks in London. Mr Lavrov told reporters that Russia had no plans to invade south-eastern Ukraine. Russia would "respect the will of the people of Crimea", he said, ahead of Sunday's referendum there....

All Republicans and Democrats Coons, Heitkamp, Manchin, Pryor, Donnelly, Casey and Walsh voted against the nomination. Adegbile came under heavy fire for his voluntary advocacy of convicted and unrepentant cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, who murdered Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981. Major law enforcement orgazations, inlcuding the National Fraternal Order of Police and the National Association of Police Organizations, were opposed to the nomination. Philadelphia Democratic Prosecutor Seth Williams was also...
