While America is supposedly now "post-racial", the city of Atlanta has a way to go to catch up. It would appear a "memo" has surfaced, advising the black community to unite behind one black mayoral candidate. Again, imagine the "stupidly" judgment indictments had this been the other way around.

Former schoolteacher Evelyn Miller doesn't plan to retire from the anti-illegal immigration movement any time soon. She's too busy organizing petitions, blasting e-mails, faxes and letters, and threatening politicians who are up for re-election. The 76-year-old member of the California Coalition for Immigration Reform says she is driven by her belief that those in the country illegally are taking jobs and taxpayer services from Americans. "We're soldiers in the foxhole," Miller said from her dining room in Irvine, which doubles as a home office

Note: The following news release SNIPPET is a quote: Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano today announced new directives to enhance and clarify oversight for searches of computers and other electronic media at U.S. ports of entry—a critical step designed to bolster the Department’s efforts to combat transnational crime and terrorism while protecting privacy and civil liberties. “Keeping Americans safe in an increasingly digital world depends on our ability to lawfully screen materials entering the United States,” said Secretary Napolitano. “The new directives announced today strike the balance between respecting the civil liberties and privacy of all travelers...

Diagnosing Illegal Immigration by: Brittany Fortier, August 28, 2009 While immigrants comprise 12.5 percent of the nation’s total population, they are 27.1 percent of the uninsured, an immigration study group found. In turn, “64 percent of illegal immigrants are uninsured,” according to Steven Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies. Camarota, Director of Research for CIS, said at the National Press Club on August 19 that “it is very difficult to imagine getting our health-care house in order without getting our immigration house in order…” Camarota added that understanding the issue of immigration is central to understanding the health care...

One of the greatest challenges for minorities in any democracy is that their priorities often differ with those of the majority. Consequently, even if a minority group does not experience outright tyranny, it can suffer tragic neglect. That's the lingering problem with immigration reform. Latino leaders have long called for comprehensive immigration reform. During the presidential campaign, it finally seemed destined for reality as candidates sought the crucial Latino vote. But today, where's immigration reform on the list of priorities? ...(snip)... I grew up on the border and I can honestly say, it pains me to watch us squander billions...

TEL AVIV, Israel – Gov. Rick Perry compared Mexico to the Gaza Strip this week, saying Texas can learn from Israeli security efforts after touring a town that has been hit by Palestinian rockets. Perry, who has demanded a heightened U.S. troop presence along the Rio Grande, went to Israel's border with Gaza and was briefed by Israeli army officials. "Kassam rockets have killed 28 Israelis over the last eight years. Well, 1,000 people have been killed in Juárez since the beginning of the year," the governor told the Jerusalem Post in Friday's editions, referring to the drug-related killings across...

Agent Mike Scioli of the U.S. Border Patrol confirms that the Tucson sector of the Border Patrol is facing a worsening problem with Mara Salvatrucha, a Salvadoran street gang that now controls the flow of arms, drugs, and illegal aliens into the U.S. After 9/11, Mara Salvatrucha attracted the attention of top al Qaeda officials, who realized that the gang could be used to smuggle operatives and weapons into the United States. An agreement was forged between the terrorists and the gang-bangers. In exchange for safe passage across the border, al Qaeda – through its cells in South America –...

Most of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior (MoI) is focused on internal security. Most MoI components have a secondary role against external forces. Only one Ministry of Interior Service is completely focused on external security: The Department of Border Enforcement. This difference in MoI service roles tends to give the Department of Border Enforcement (DBE) a lower priority in the MoI. MoI tends to be focused on the counter-insurgency fight. There is at least one case of a DBE battalion being transferred to the Iraqi National Police. Also, two of the DBE’s schools were used to train Iraqi National Police...

As Congress moves slowly on immigration reform, President Obama is making numerous policy changes in enforcement and other areas that are designed to shift priorities and boost confidence in the administration as it lays the groundwork for possible legislation. The recent administrative changes include: * New guidelines directing immigration agents to target employers who hire illegal immigrants rather than simply arresting undocumented employees. * A requirement that all local police agencies deputized to check immigration status and turn criminals over for possible deportation sign new agreements pledging to focus on those who pose a risk to public safety. * The...

President Obama recently hosted a White House meeting to relaunch the legislative process for “comprehensive” immigration reform. Joining the chorus a few days later were several big city police chiefs who urged Congress to bring illegal immigrants out from the shadows. This push is coming despite the fact that voters don't rank immigration as a priority issue. Adding to the legislative challenge, there remains a huge gap between most voters and the Political Class on the issue. Sixty-six percent (66%) of likely voters nationwide say it is Very Important for the government to improve its enforcement of the borders and...
