It started with Ted; the "reforms" to flood the U.S. with legal and illegal immigrants from everywhere, and to put the government in charge of your health care started with Ted, back in the 1960s. Patient Zero: The 1906-07 typhoid epidemic in the U.S. was traced back to a single infected individual – "Typhoid Mary" Mallon. The AIDS epidemic of the 1980s in the U.S. has been traced back to a single infected flight attendant – Gaeton Dugas. The virus of revolutionary "reforms" in immigration law beginning in 1965 which have transformed immigration from a positive infusion of aspiring Americans...

The self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff in America" has never gotten so much resistance from the federal government. The Homeland Security Department wants Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz., to stop arresting illegal immigrants whose only crime was crossing the U.S.-Mexico border without documents. The thing is, Arpaio doesn't much care. "I'm not going to bend to the federal government, I'm going to do my job," he said. "I don't report to the federal government, I report to the people." Shifting winds in Washington have led the Homeland Security Department to rework a federal program that has allowed Arpaio's deputies to...

A plan containing guidelines on getting Mexican trucks back on U.S. highways has gone through bureaucratic review, the first step toward ending Mexican tariffs on $2.4 billion worth of U.S. goods. Implementing the plan would quell growing dissent among U.S. businesses that are hurt by Mexico's tariffs and that continue to besiege Washington with claims that doing nothing will result in job losses. The tariffs were imposed as retaliation for legislation enacted in March that took Mexican trucks off American highways, despite the North American Free Trade Agreement's program to let them into the United States.

U.S. and Mexican officials say they have launched a manhunt for the killer of a U.S. Border Patrol agent, who was shot and killed 60 miles east of San Diego. Officials said Robert Rosas, 30, was slain by one or more assailants after responding to a reported incursion along a steel border fence near the rural town of Campo, Calif., in eastern San Diego County, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Whether it was illegal immigrants or drug smugglers is not immediately clear. What is certain is Border Agent Robert Wimer Rosas, was killed in the line of duty by unidentified individuals at 9:15 PM on July 23rd while on patrol. A three-year veteran of the Border Patrol and working out of the Campo/Pine Valley Station here in the high desert of Southern CA, Agent Rosas was reportedly in pursuit of suspected illegal border crossers with two other agents. They were tracking a group within a hundred yards or so of the border when shots rang out. Agents found Rosas mortally...

Washington - “Last night, Border Patrol Chief Daavid Aguilar and I were devastated to learn about the senseless killing of one of our young Border Patrol Agents, Robert Rosas. Agent Rosas’ murder is a tragic reminder of the ever-present dangers CBP officers, Air & Marine and Border Patrol agents face as they protect our nation’s borders. “By his service and sacrifice, Agent Rosas joins a long line of law enforcement officers and agents who have served—and died—in the law enforcement tradition of honor, valor and dedication to duty. “The FBI, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, our brothers and sisters...

While construction on the border fence in Cameron County is at a standstill because of pending lawsuits, at least one local landowner is surprised by a California congressman’s introduction of legislation that calls for more fencing construction along the United States-Mexico border. The bill, known as the Unlawful Border Entry Prevention Act and introduced Wednesday by U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-California, gives Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano discretionary authority to build 350 miles of additional reinforced fencing where she deems is necessary. More than 650 miles of fence have already been approved along the U.S.-Mexico border. If approved...

My research concluded that, along with the environmental groups that peddle fear and flawed science, the most popular recipient of massive foundation money is the vocal open borders and "multicultural" lobby that, among other things, backs amnesty for 15 million-plus illegal aliens and so-called foreign "guest worker programs. This lobby consists of numerous foundation-supported advocacy groups seeking to change the demographic composition and culture of the United States. One of the most militant is the National Immigration Forum, which received over $3.3 million in grants in 2004 alone from the Ford Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation,...

PALOMINAS — It isn’t along a highway, but Glenn Spencer’s billboard along the American-Mexican border carries a special message to those responsible for the nation’s security: Finish the Job. The day before the Fourth of July, Spencer, who heads the private nonprofit American Border Patrol (which should not be confused with the federal U.S. Border Patrol), and a number of helpers placed 3,000 small American flags and messages on part of the 18-foot high border fence, changing a 60-foot stretch of rusty metal into colorful patches of red, white and blue. This is the second year during the national independence...

Porch swing slats are smashed, the smattering of grass is flattened by cars and burned yellow by sun. “I’ll do the talking on this one,” agent Tim Sloan, of South Carolina, told partner Brian Tumiel, of New York. A U.S. federal probe has found that about a third of American Apparel's factory workers in the Los Angeles area had supplied suspect or invalid records and were not authorized to work in the United States. The findings, from a January 2008 federal investigation, may deal a blow to the corporation's image as a proponent of immigration reform. But the company said on Tuesday the potential loss of those 1,800 workers would have no significant impact on its results. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency found that some 1,600 current employees at American Apparel's Los Angeles factories appeared to...

WASHINGTON, June 23, 2009 – Afghan, Pakistani and coalition military operations designed to restrict militants’ movements and eliminate safe havens along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border have accomplished visible gains, a senior U.S. military officer posted in Afghanistan said today. Do you mind answering a few questions...? As we found out yesterday, NRA has issued a statement on the GAO Mexican "crime gun" trafficking report. Their bottom line: For American gun owners, the battle will be to make sure that politicians who see an opportunity to advance their gun ban agenda do not use Mexico as an excuse to sacrifice our Second Amendment rights. True enough. But it was the second link in this morning's email from their Institute for Legislative Action that really grinds my gears: "In Border States, BATFE Asks: 'May We See Your Guns?'" NRA-ILA has recently...

That would include not just people stopped by police, but anyone who enters a government building applying for a benefit, service or license where being a legal resident is a condition. GUWAHATI, India, June 8 (Reuters) - India will deploy thousands of additional troops and build airstrips along its remote northeastern border with China, in a sign of persisting wariness between the two countries despite growing business ties. India and China fought a brief war over their 3,500 km (2,200 mile) Himalayan border in 1962, and both sides claim the other is occupying big but largely uninhabited chunks of their territory. Although India and China have signed a treaty to maintain "peace and tranquility" along the disputed frontier and agreed to find a political solution to the row, talks have made...

Canada and the U.S. signed an agreement Monday designed to increase border security by allowing the RCMP and the U.S. Coast Guard to team up and ride in each others' vessels during border patrols.
