February 8, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The daughter of famed science fiction author Marion Zimmer Bradley has written an autobiographical account revealing the horrors of growing up in a home raised by LGBT parents who repeatedly sexually abused her and her brothers. “I have heard all the customary protestations. ‘Your parents were evil because they were evil, not because they were gay,’ but I disagree,” writes Moira Greyland in her new book, The Last Closet: The Dark Side of Avalon. “The underlying problem is a philosophical one that is based on beliefs that are not only common to gay culture but...

Judicial Watch announced today it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Justice Department for FBI records about former Director James Comey’s book, which he signed to write in August 2017 and is set for publication in April 2018 (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice, (No. 1:18-cv-00220)). The suit also seeks records of communications between Comey and the FBI prior to and regarding Comey’s controversial June 2017 testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee. Judicial Watch filed suit on January 31 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after the Justice Department failed to...

What happens to food after we've eaten? The ins and outs of digestion are not normally considered suitable for polite conversation. But we should know more about what goes on according to a new book by 25-year-old microbiologist Giulia Enders. Gut: The Inside Story Of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ, is already a bestseller in her native Germany. And it makes eye-opening reading, as this extract reveals... From the minute we take our first bite of food, enzymes in saliva start breaking it down. Tiny openings on our cheek secrete saliva even at the thought of food. It has a...

The FBI’s top brass initiated conversations with a White House official that were quickly leaked to CNN, according to a new book. Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe asked to speak privately with White House chief of staff Reince Priebus following a February 2017 intelligence briefing. The scene is described in “Media Madness,” Howard Kurtz’s new book on the press and its relationship with the Trump administration. McCabe said he asked for the meeting to tell Priebus that “everything” in a New York Times story ... was “bullsh-t.” ... McCabe claimed to want Priebus to know the FBI’s perspective that this...

The author who wrote Clinton Cash and sparked an FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation is preparing to launch his highly anticipated investigative follow-up—a book that appears it will be every bit as explosive as his last. On Monday, publishing giant HarperCollins released the book cover of Government Accountability Institute President and Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer’s forthcoming book, Secret Empires: How Our Politicians Hide Corruption and Enrich Their Families and Friends. While little is known about the book’s contents, five images on the book’s cover suggest that Schweizer’s next targets may include Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY),...

Confession time. I have not read the new Michael Wolff book, nor do I expect it to make its way to the top of my already extensive list of books I want to get around to reading. From what I’ve seen in various reviews and interviews I’m not missing out on much, but plenty of other people are snapping it up. Unfortunately for some of them, they didn’t look into the details very closely and wound up ordering a different tome by author Randall Hansen. His book, Fire and Fury: The Allied Bombing of Germany, 1942-1945 has experienced a surge...

Author of 'Fire & FURY' Book Admits He Didn't Interview ANY Of the Trump Administration Michael Wolff admitted Monday that he did not interview Vice President Mike Pence or any Cabinet members, though some of the more incendiary claims in his book “Fire and Fury” are credited to Cabinet members. The book is dominating the news cycle and claims to portray life “inside the Trump White House.” He made the admission on “CBS This Morning.” As CNBC reporter John Harwood put it, many of President Donald Trump’s top officials are reported to have said particularly nasty things about the president....

THE LAST CLOSET: The Dark Side of Avalon is a brutal tale of a harrowing childhood. It is the true story of predatory adults preying on the innocence of children without shame, guilt, or remorse. It is an eyewitness account of how high-minded utopian intellectuals, unchecked by law, tradition, religion, or morality, can create a literal Hell on Earth. THE LAST CLOSET is also an inspiring story of survival. It is a powerful testimony to courage, to hope, and to faith. It is the story of Moira Greyland, the only daughter of Marion Zimmer Bradley and convicted child molester Walter...
  • Former Secret Service Agent Spills How Clinton’s Sex Trysts Endangered Lives

A just published tell-all book from a former Secret Service officer details how former President Bill Clinton’s allegedly obsessive out-of-marriage relationships endangered the lives of Secret Service officers. Gary J. Byrne, who was assigned to protect Clinton during his White House years, wonders whether “Clinton’s sordid personal affairs worth and officer’s life” as the president often tried to visit his “well-known and lesser-known mistresses.” During one of Clinton’s trysts, another Secret Service agent almost lost his life in a motorcade crash, the Washington Examiner notes. Byrne writes in “Secrets of the Secret Service: The History and Uncertain Future of the...

Fictional Cold War warrior James Bond should be played by a woman, Theresa May has said, hailing the new female Doctor Who as a victory for “girl power”. Speaking on a flight to Cyprus last week, where she gave a Christmas address to troops at RAF Akrotiri, the prime minister revealed she was a fan of the BBC science fiction show Doctor Who, and lauded the public broadcaster’s decision to cast Jodie Whittaker in the iconic time traveller’s role. “I think it’s a great move forward for girl power that there is going to be a female Doctor Who. Some of us LOVE getting books, especially for Christmas. There's something special about unwrapping a book on Christmas morning - and enjoy sharing with others. I rarely post anything, (maybe ten articles in 16 years on Free Republic), but thought this would be a good time for book-lovers to share what we received this morning. Merry Christmas!

Our trainers recommended some of their favorite book gift ideas that would make a thoughtful present or a friend, family member, or fellow activist. 1. “The Righteous Mind” by Jonathan Haidt In it, Haidt helps explain why liberals, conservatives, and libertarians think differently about issues. He also argues why we should be more willing to entertain diverse viewpoints and understand why people believe what they believe. As an activist, understanding...

CHICAGO (WLS) -- In one day, a 4-year-old Chicago boy read 100 books, including his favorites about Ninja turtles and dogs. As Caleb Green's reading marathon got started on Saturday, his parents decided to stream it on Facebook Live. He got a couple thousand views from people as far away as Florida. And every time he finished 10 books, he did a little dance. "I like to read and I want to read some more like my sister," Caleb said. When Caleb first told his parents about his goal, they scoured their bookshelves. When they came up short, some friends...

A couple of years ago, I sat down with a minister to talk about why so many people were not only losing faith, but literally walking away from their houses of worship and their faith. We both agreed it was a growing crisis with multiple negative consequences. He felt that more and more people were simply losing faith in their “leadership.” Be that political, corporate, or faith-based leadership. They saw and heard from leaders who continually “talked the talk but never personally walked the walk.” He also felt that the basic needs for joy, hope, faith, and a simple human...

I'd like to study the Constitution and its amendments in greater depth to learn of the historical circumstances and reasoning that led to each amendment's ratification as well as some of the significant case law that has since stemmed from each one. As I've searched for a good book, it seems a lot of them are written by people who have a liberal slant and hence, whose judgment I don't trust. Can any of you recommend a well-rounded, reasonably understandable book that is written by someone with a more conservative mind? Any suggestions along that line would be appreciated. Thanks.

For years we conservatives have complained impotently about the derailing culture and lack of entertainment choices, and yet, which one of us stepped up to fill the void? We watched literature join the dumpster fire that is modern culture and cried tears of helplessness. But no more. Take heart, for men and women of action have arrived! Superversive Press, whose controversial Forbidden Thoughts anthology captured our attention in January 2017, has been hard at work to turn the tide.
