Expert Stephen Dubner and Steven Levitt knew that Names can tell us a lot about the Person, but does a Name Really Affect the Outcome of a person’s Personal & Professional Success? Not so much. Their study found that with all else equal between two babies born at the same time, name did not move the needle in terms of economic status later in life. Naming was not destiny. • CO: Home Invasion Shooting Unusual

It is unusual for a 52-year-old man to be shot invading a home.  When I see it, it usually is a career criminal, someone who is drunk and mistakes the home, is in the middle of a bad domestic situation, or someone who had a long brewing feud with a neighbor.  In the case of Garry Lieberth of North Platte, Nebraska, I have not been able to find any evidence of those things.  Perhaps we will learn more when the toxicology report comes in.  From the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in Colorado: The adult male homeowner was asleep on...

BO is the reason for the season - regardless of which “season” you’re celebrating:Cat Walkin’ our way through the “Holiday” Season: “I’m too sexy for my house…”For Hanukkah, Big Guy, widely described by pro-Israel groups as the U.S. president “least friendly to the Jewish state since its founding,” believes that he is Jewish in his “soul.”  “I am, in my soul.” Which might explain the Hanukkah colors OFA chose for their annual cultish “Holiday Greetings” card, featuring our first Jewish President:Butt getting back to Boo-Rock’s claim that he has a “Jewish soul”  - I’m sure that could be true, were there...
  • PBS Gun Control Poll Results – You Have to See These Numbers

PBS probably wasn’t expecting the poll numbers they got when they ran a recent poll on gun control. The question asked was: Would you support more restrictions on guns in your state? The choices were: Yes. Increased regulations on firearms are necessary to prevent another tragedy like the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary. No. Laws like this unnecessarily punish lawful gun owners and will do little to prevent mass shootings. Unsure. It’s important to keep the weapons out of the wrong hands, but this may not be the solution. The results with over 100,000 votes cast were startling. 95% (nearly...

The University of Michigan is a bastion of free speech, according to its own public affairs department. Freedom of expression is a core value of @UMich. Statement regarding column by Professor Susan Douglas http://t.co/tSouGSRaKI— UM Public Affairs (@UMPublicAffairs) December 18, 2014 But only if you’re a liberal.  One professor is allowed to publish a hate piece about Republicans, but a conservative student is fired for his own article. UMich professor Susan Douglas, chair-liberal of the communications department, wrote a hit piece entitled “It’s okay to hate Republicans”. "I hate Republicans," she wrote to begin her column. I had missed this article when it came out in June of 2014.   It was particularly startling because there is no mention of the beaver having rabies.  The animal literally jumped out of the water, grabbed the kayaker by the arm, and pulled him from the boat.  From wtvr.com: “It’s just a freak thing. This beaver was upset about something and went after him,” kayaking trainer Nate Reynolds said. “I heard him yell my name, so I come running out. As soon as I came out, I see the boat flip over, so the beaver had actually jumped...

In an upcoming People magazine interview, Barack and Michelle Obama sit down and discuss life as the First Oppressed Couple of the United States. Hoping to shed light and relate to recent events in Ferguson, Missouri, and New York City, Barack reached into the upstairs White House bedroom of his mind and called upon his famous imaginary son to make an appearance: The small irritations or indignities that we experience are nothing compared to what a previous generation experienced,” President Obama said. “It’s one thing for me to be mistaken for a waiter at a gala. It’s another thing for...
  • If you don’t support Israel, what else do you not believe?

Politically, culturally, and theologically, American Christians should support Israel, as a Jewish state, as a free nation, and as the Holy Land set aside for God’s purposes.  Believing otherwise is counter to scripture, Christian faith, and American interests. Many Christians believe that since the Temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. and Israel was scattered, that God had no plans for Israel, and instead has passed his blessings to the Church.  Nothing could be further from God’s truth, and no belief could be more damaging and pernicious to God’s purpose in bringing redemption to the world. The thought that somehow...

  • Where and when did this conservative vs establishment battle begin?

    12/18/2014 5:24:05 PM PST · by ProgressingAmerica · 21 replies
Rush talked about a politico story back on November 3rd which relies heavily on establishment insiders giving good talking points to left wing journalists, so as to be able to hit members of the Tea Party harder over the head. Since then, we have seen the GOP win the election overwhelmingly, and then go on to give Obama everything he wants. Specifically a trillion dollar spending bill and amnesty. There are a lot of people out there who believe that the Republican Establishment is out to GET conservatives, and quite frankly, I don't see how anybody can argue against it....

A protective order can be effective.  Especially if it is backed up with a gun.  Protective orders are meant to be backed with armed force.  The problem is that in many cases, armed agents of the state either arrive too late to be of help, or they cannot stay around long enough to provide effective protection.  But when the armed force is in the form of the person who asked for the protective order, the protection is multiplied many times.  In this case out of Indiana, the suspect, Jeffrey Frakes, had been released from jail the day before. From wishtv.com:...

To the Catholic leaders who wish to help the Cuban people, my prayers, too, that you would realize the evil that has descended upon our country and the Church. Your purpose is to save souls, not to be used as pawns for the Devil Growing up as a child of conservative parents in a Catholic environment, today, after 53 years living in the USA, I find a new world that is upside down. When Fidel Castro came to Cuba, soon after there were rumors of the government takeover of private schools. I was sent as a young teen to the...

The New Year worry for a watching world is if Obama can open up channels for drastic policy changes in Cuba without the knowledge of the American population and Congress, when will he do the same for Iran? Just as Fidel Castro became Cuba’s dictator when he and his guerrillas triumphantly entered Havana on January 7, 1959, President Barack Obama became America’s dictator on Dec. 17, 2014. Swaggering into Havana dressed in army fatigues with his signature cigar, Castro claimed the island as his own. Like a thief making off with a nation in the middle of the night, Obama...

U-M professor Susan Douglas Susan Douglas is a University of Michigan professor and department chair who is not shy about expressing her viewpoints - political or otherwise. Earlier this week Douglas penned a column for the independent nonprofit magazine In These Times titled "It's okay to hate Republicans." "I hate Republicans," she wrote to begin her column. "I can't stand the thought of having to spend the next two years watching Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Ted Cruz, Darrell Issa or any of the legions of other blowhards denying climate change, thwarting immigration reform or championing fetal 'personhood.'" In an article published yesterday, Salon writer Brittney Cooper wrote about an encounter on a subway that she deemed extremely racist. The article, called “Listen when I talk to you!”: How white entitlement marred my trip to a Ferguson teach-in, Cooper began the story by explaining that she was on a train bound for Ferguson for a "teach-in." At the time of the encounter, Cooper writes, the train was "full." More than that, she couldn't hear anything going on and was ignoring people trying to sit down because she had her "beats headphones on." And though the train was full,...

Now they're canceling 'The Interview' because North Korea threw a hissy fit? Man, this is such an embarrassment. I have no idea if this movie is any good or not. It sounds pretty stupid and it has Seth Rogen in it, so I doubt we're dealing with Citizen Kane here. Still, that fat little psycho in North Korea deserves to be ruthlessly insulted. Mocking genocidal maniacs is as American as apple pie. I'm all for it. As long as we remember that, as enjoyable as it is to make fun of this puffy dimwit, there really isn't anything funny about...
