I have wondered about Beck for a while, but loved his exposure of the communist network in the US. Since he left FOX...he seems to have changed...and the immediate disregard to the Bundy situation really made me sick. Beck didn't even give the guy the benefit of the doubt and touted the NYT version. I know he has risen to fame since 2001, ghost written several books, had rallies, etc....but to have a network, now? A base in NY....a major website (so buggy and full of cookies it puts me off). Does anyone else find this strange? And claims to...

The Wakefield man arrested near the finish line of the Boston Marathon last night "suffers from bipolar disorder" and "was off his meds" when he allegedly created panic on the one-year anniversary of the deadly terrorist bombing, his shaken mother told the Herald. "It's very overwhelming right now," said Joie Edson, 59, of Wakefield, who plans to issue a statement on her family's behalf later today. Kevin "Kayvon" Edson, 25, officially identified this morning by Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley's Office, is expected to be arraigned this morning in Boston

President Obama, speaking earlier today at conference on mental health at the White House: "There are other people who are leading by example. My great friend, Patrick Kennedy, when he was running for reelection back in 2006, he could have avoided talking about his struggles with bipolar disorder and addiction. Let’s face it, he’s a Kennedy," said Obama. After the audience stopped laughing, Obama continued, "He was -- his seat was pretty safe. Everybody loved him. And yet, Patrick used his experience as a way to connect and to lift up these issues, not hide from them." And one day,...

Robert De Niro wasn't acting when he broke down in sobs on Katie Couric's day time talk show Monday. The usually tough-guy actor was a guest on Katie to discuss the hit film Silver Linings Playbook with director David O. Russell and co-star Bradley Cooper. When asked about the film's premise - that of a bipolar character trying in vain to fit in - The Goodfellas actor began to cry. 'Did you feel a greater responsibility about doing a film that David had so much personally invested in?' the anchor asked, following up on a question asked of Russell. 'Of...

Conservative firebrand Glenn Beck has joined a growing chorus of Republican commentators in defending gay marriage, laying out a strong case for ending government opposition to letting same-sex couples wed. "Let me take the pro-gay marriage people and the religious people — I believe that there is a connecting dot there that nobody is looking at, and that's the Constitution," Beck said during a recent segment of his online talk show. "The question is not whether gay people should be married or not. The question is why is the government involved in our marriage?" While Beck's defense of gay marriage...

The outlines of President Obama’s political strategy are clear—to unleash, virtually on a daily basis, a series of dishonest and libelous attacks on Republicans while also coming across as likable, reasonable, a man who hovers above the political mud, a president ever in search of common ground. Obama’s budget speech last week contained both elements. On the one hand, he portrayed the GOP vision as Hobbesian—crumbling roads and collapsing bridges, the elderly and children with autism and Down’s Syndrome left to fend for themselves. Having leveled those charges, Obama spoke at the end of his speech about the need to...

After supporting husband Michael Douglas through his battle with throat cancer, Catherine Zeta-Jones needed medical care for herself. After “the stress of the past year,” her representative said in a statement, the movie star “made the decision to check into a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her bipolar II disorder,” a condition similar to bipolar I disorder, characterized by mood swings from high to low. Zeta-Jones has been hit with a series of devastating events: In 2010, her stepson, Cameron Douglas, was sentenced to five years in prison on drug charges, and four months later, her...
