By now you have probably heard about the New York incident in which a businessman was dragged from his Range Rover and beaten by a mob of motorcyclists. The attack—which nicely combined elements of The Wild Angels and Bonfire of the Vanities—would have been media catnip regardless, but became a sensation when helmet-cam videos were posted on YouTube. The story just keeps producing spicy tidbits, notably the fact that a half-dozen undercover New York police officers were among the hundreds of rampaging cyclists. Now the New York Post has reported Reginald Chance, who was videotaped using his helmet to break...

An off-duty, undercover police detective was arrested as fallout from a burst of motorcyclist mayhem reached a new level, with investigators saying the off-duty officer was shown on video hitting and kicking an SUV before bikers attacked its driver. Wojciech Braszczok, who was off-duty when he joined a motorcycle rally that spiraled into violence, was expected to be arraigned Wednesday. He surrendered Tuesday to face riot and criminal mischief charges, New York Police Department spokesman John McCarthy said. There was no response to phone messages left with Braszczok's attorney, Phil Karasyk. He had previously said the 10-year NYPD veteran only...

An off-duty undercover cop who claimed he took no active role as fellow bikers pulled a Manhattan dad from his SUV and beat him to a pulp was actually pounding the vehicle with his fists during the height of the bloody road-rage attack, sources told The Post. The cop, a seven-year veteran, had told investigators he didn’t help the injured man because he rode up to the scene as the beating was nearly finished, sources said. But video footage clearly shows otherwise, disgusted sources said Monday — and Internal Affairs Bureau higher-ups want to nail the officer.

About a half-dozen bikers accused of beating an SUV driver last weekend used their helmets to attack him and kicked his head and body as he lay on the ground, New York police said. Police said one of the bikers -- Robert Sims -- also stomped on the driver's head and body, according to a detective's criminal complaint. Sims was one of two bikers who turned himself in to authorities on Friday. He has been charged with attempted assault, gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
  • At Least Five More Cops Were Among Biker Gang That Attacked SUV

Yesterday, the New York Post reported that an off-duty undercover narcotics detective was among the group of motorcyclists that attacked a family as they drove their Range Rover up the West Side Highway last weekend. (He reportedly did not "[get] involved at the scene," though he also did not try to stop the assault.) Now, ABC News and DNAinfo report that at least five other off-duty members of the NYPD participated in the ride and witnessed some part of the confrontation, which began when 33-year-old Alexian Lien bumped one of the bikers with his SUV and ended with Lien being...

This image of a biker gang pummeling Internet executive Alexian Lienn as his wife helplessly looks on is terrifying.Biker mob assaulting NYC Internet executive Alexian Lienn. Photo via CarScoops.com Lienn and his wife were enjoying a day out celebrating their wedding anniversary with their baby daughter when a so-called “pop-up gang” of bikers surrounded them as they drove on Manhattan’s West Side Highway. One biker, later identified as Chistopher Cruz, swerved in front of Lienn’s Range Rover and “brake-checked” the vehicle by slamming on his brakes, forcing the vehicle to stop. 2,000 lb SUVs being much harder to stop than...

Mob violence. Domestic terrorism. Call it what you will, but the uncut footage of the biker gang that repeatedly surrounded and then attacked New York City Internet executive Alexian Lien and his family on the city’s highways and surface streets is an example of the sort of chilling violence that seems to be endemic to a growing violent subculture within our society. This amoral mob mentality glorifies in spitting in the face of civility. They act as if Grand Theft Auto isn’t just an ultra-violent video game, but is instead a lifestyle to be emulated. (snip) Days after the attack,...

NEW YORK — The driver of an SUV involved in a bloody weekend confrontation with a throng of motorcyclists was put in “grave danger” and feared for the life of his family when he drove through the crowd, striking a biker on the street, his wife said Thursday. Rosalyn Ng said in a statement that she and her husband, Alexian Lien, had been planning to celebrate their wedding anniversary with their 2-year-old daughter on Sunday afternoon, but instead they were swarmed by a motorcycle rally on Manhattan’s West Side Highway.

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Police have arrested one of the bikers involved in the initial incident that lead to the vicious attack of a man driving his family in Manhattan, the NYPD said. Meantime, some people are saying the driver is not the victim because one of the bikers he ran over is in a coma. Video posted to YouTube from the helmet camera worn by a motorcyclist shows a pack of bikers attacking the driver of an SUV following a fender bender on the West Side Highway on Sunday afternoon. Christopher Cruz, 28, was charged with reckless endangerment, reckless...

A New York City man who was out driving Sunday celebrating his first wedding anniversary with his wife and 2-year-old daughter was brutally beaten by members of a motorcycle gang in front of his horrified family after a high-speed chase. Police said Tuesday morning it remains unclear what caused the confrontation that led to the assault on Alexian Lien. Lien, 33, was left bloodied and had to be hospitalized. But investigators are studying a 6-minute helmet-cam video that shows part of the chase and cuts off just before Lien is pulled out of his luxury SUV and beaten by the...
