Amidst all the mockery over President Donald Trump serving fast food to the Clemson Tigers football team in the White House, there was one surprising contrary note. It came from Megan Garber of The Atlantic on Tuesday which was unusual because she didn't seem to be a fan of Trump judging from her past writings.  While most other mainstream media sources were laughing at Trump, Garber had a much different opinion in her article, "The President’s Big-Mac Feast Was Politically Savvy":

Al Sharpton hit President Donald Trump for his weight during comments marking Martin Luther King Jr., Day in Harlem, quipping he should order three Big Macs instead of two. According to New York Times writer Shane Goldmacher, Sharpton complimented New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D.) as a "national celebrity" and, perhaps alluding to potential White House ambitions, said Trump should "get your best gloves out" before making the joke about Trump's fondness for fast food. A Fond du Lac, Wis., man has published a book about a 36-year obsession in which he says he devoured 23,000 Big Macs. Don Gorske, 54, who is physically fit, hit his 23,000th Big Mac milestone last month, the Fond du Lac (Wis.) Reporter said in a story published Monday. Gorske, who works for the Waupun Correctional Institution, claims to have every receipt for each Big Mac dating to May 17, 1972, when he got his first car, the Reporter said.

Rioting foreign criminals and failed asylum seekers were fed McDonald's takeaway meals by prison staff during a £60million orgy of destruction which wrecked an immigration detention centre. Fearful that the human rights of inmates would be breached, staff ferried sackfuls of Big Mac meals with fries and soft drinks from a nearby branch of the fast-food chain. The revelation came in a damning official report into the riot at Harmondsworth Immigration Removal Centre near Heathrow Airport last November. Japanese TV (FNN) ran a short report yesterday, highlighting the fact that Houston, Texas was voted as the US city with the most obese population.The report runs about one minute. It does not seem to be particularly flattering of poor Houston, nor overweight people living there (some which are profiled by telephoto lens). The way the clip is done is interesting, if not somewhat humorous, and from a Japanese perspective of rare obesity (but wait 'til it comes to cigarette smoking).At any rate, a short peek of how 'some' Americans are viewed and described, from overseas.
