Washington, DC - A Georgia couple who showed up at the White House a day early for a tour somehow wound up at an invitation-only breakfast with President Barack Obama and the first lady. It left the White House once again explaining how people who were not on an event guest list wound up being ushered into the presidential mansion anyway. The improbable adventure of Harvey and Paula Darden, Obama supporters from Hogansville, Ga., took place on Veterans Day, two weeks before Virginia socialites Tareq and Michaele Salahi infamously crashed the Obamas' state dinner for the prime minister of India.

In a provocative argument designed to rescue his foundering health care plan, President Barack Obama will warn Senate Democrats in a White House meeting Tuesday that this is the "last chance" to pass comprehensive reform. Obama will contend that if it fails now, no other president will attempt it, aides said. White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer told POLITICO: "If President Obama doesn't pass health reform, it’s hard to imagine another president ever taking on this Herculean task. For those whose life's work is reforming health care, this may be the last train leaving the station." Previewing the message, Vice...

Struggling Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) is "getting the living hell beat out of him" in his campaign for re-election, Joe Biden said yesterday. Speaking at a fundraiser for Dodd in Connecticut, Biden urged supporters to rally behind Dodd, whom he called "the single most gifted legislator in Congress." "Chris is getting the living hell beat out of him, the living bejesus beat out of him,'' Biden said, according to a pool report. "Why? Because he's being a leader." Dodd has put himself front and center on both healthcare reform and financial regulation. He's also come under fire for taking a...

ANSWERING THE ALARM: As the president and first lady return to Washington from Oslo, Vice President Biden heads out on a trip to New England to campaign for Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) The VP will appear with Dodd at a fire station in East Hartford, Conn., where authorities have been given $3.39 million in stimulus funds to build a new facility - and where fire fighters successfully extinguished a five-alarm fire earlier this week. Whether Biden can perform the same kind of emergency response for Dodd's reelection campaign is another story... http://www.politico.com/politico44/ Also, The Obama extension campaign headquarters is doing...

Kevin Jennings’ GLSEN has support in the highest places. We’ve reported that Jennings and his “partner” hosted Barack Obama in their home during the Presidential campaign. And the Bidens are indebted as well for Jennings' help delivering the GLBTQQIPS* vote. On June 1, 2009, Jill Biden (Mrs. Joe) proudly appeared as "a very special guest" at GLSEN's gala “Respect Awards” fundraiser in New York. Who's up next year? Michelle Obama? (Unless, of course, Kevin Jennings has left his office as "Safe Schools Czar" in disgrace by then.) Maybe Mrs. O will bring her daughters to "jump start" their participation in...

There are allegations from many conservatives that Sarah Palin is not being treated fairly by the media. No matter who you are or your political affiliation, you cannot deny the fact that Sarah Palin is electrifying. However, in her short time in the limelight, this up-and-coming Republican star has had more drama than the "Desperate Housewives" season finale (my wife makes me watch it). The people of Alaska elected Sarah Palin as their governor after her humble beginnings. There is a lot to be said about being born in Idaho to a school secretary and science teacher. It can't get...

Pampered Chef presenter Wilma Flanders is struggling to explain how Vice President Joe Biden was able to crash a recent party at a Nashville couple's house yesterday. To make matters worse, it was Jerry and Sheila Dorfmeyer's first attempt at hosting a party. And maybe their last. "I have no idea how he got in," said Flanders. "Nobody invited him. He wasn't on the list. He just kinda showed up." Jerry said the vice president's attendance at the party was a threat to the couple's security and a social setback for the couple, who were new to the community. They...

The announcement that Oprah’s ending her show after 25 years came as no surprise. In fact, I have been expecting this sort of announcement since Oprah took the stage with Barack Obama to announce her support for his presidential run. During her first of many stump speeches in Manchester, I heard the crowd chant Oprah! Oprah, and listened to her give a well-crafted speech. I also noticed a transformation in her voice and delivery. She sounded more like a pastor giving a fiery sermon, closer to Reverend Wright, than a professional talk show host. She seemed to revel in the...

"White House Defends Stimulus Act Despite Government Audit Questioning the Job Numbers" SNIPPET: "(CNSNews.com) - The White House defended the effectiveness of the economic stimulus act on Monday after a government audit last week called many of the reported job numbers into question. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) reported that $173 billion of the $787 billion stimulus package had been paid out by the federal government as of Sept. 30. That’s about 22 percent of the total, and it indicates that 78 percent of the stimulus funds have not been paid out – at a time when unemployment was rising."

The recent unemployment figures. over 10% of Americans out of work, blows through the President's projection at the time of the porkulous debate. At that time, America was promised that if his bill was passed, unemployment would not rise higher than 8%. The spike in unemployment is a black-eye to the president as it is proof that the President's plan of government spending like a drunken sailor on shore leave is doing very little to help the economy. The administration is so embarrassed about the bad numbers that they have revised their promises. Job creation is no longer the bell...

The White House announced that Vice President Joe Biden has been chosen with the task of hunting a fresh turkey for the White House Thanksgiving feast. President Obama asked the former Vice President Dick Cheney to join Biden in the hunt. “Contrary to the chatter out there, I am not trying to get rid of Vice President Biden,” said President Obama. “Dick Cheney has a significant amount of hunting experience, and it only makes sense that he join Joe in this important task. Two vice presidents going turkey hunting. I think it’s a great story.”Biden appeared a bit concerned...

In January, President Obama promised Americans his stimulus plan would “create or save” between 3 million and 4 million American jobs. Without $787 billion in Democratic spending, our 7.2 percent unemployment rate could hit 9 percent before the end of 2009. With it, the president promised, the unemployment rate would drop before year's end. We could track Obama's new jobs on Joe Biden's $10 million website (www.recovery.gov) and, the president added, “The jobs we create will be in businesses large and small across a wide range of industries.” These wouldn't be Bush-brand “McJobs,” Obama explained, “They'll be the kind of...

In a Democratic fundraising speech in Iowa over the weekend, Vice President Joe Biden told party loyalists that opponents of the Obama administration's agenda "should be worried about us, for we are their worst nightmare." Duh. Finally we can agree on something, Joe. Even the liberal New York Times reports that at the current level of federal spending, the annual interest on the national debt will exceed $700 billion by 2019 -- compared with $202 billion this year. Some forecasters predict it will be much higher. This additional half-trillion dollars a year in interest is more than our current combined...

Oil-refinery workers on the Delaware River yesterday received their second big blow in six weeks, when Valero Energy Corp. said it would close its operation in Delaware City, Del., casting 550 out of work. When workers heard the news, "it was like a time bomb went off," said Matt Edler, who has worked for 10 years at the refinery that rises out of the lowlands near the Delaware River in southern New Castle County. "My grandfather worked there, my father, and I worked there," said Edler, who yesterday afternoon joined other shocked refinery workers at Red Lion Inn in Bear,...

WASHINGTON — pResident Barack Obama made a decision in record time today, appointing Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to the position of Terrorism Czar after learning of the idea just this morning from Attorney General Eric Holder following a recent bow-ful trip through Asia. Mohammed, detained as an enemy combatant since 2003, was scheduled to undergo a federal trial in Manhattan as the self-proclaimed mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Reform: Only a Bernie Madoff could believe the Senate's health care bill will extend coverage to 31 million Americans while cutting deficits by $127 billion over 10 years. It would be the first profitable entitlement. But that's what Majority Leader Harry Reid, citing Congressional Budget Office estimates, tells us the 2,074-page bill — said to cost only $849 billion over a decade — would do. Like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, he seems to be following Vice President Joe Biden's admonition at an AARP town hall meeting that "we've got to spend money to keep from going bankrupt." We suspect Reid's...

Anyone who expected Vice President Biden to yuk it up with "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart on Tuesday night was sorely disappointed. There were no goofs, gaffes or slips of the tongue of the kind that have gotten Biden in trouble during his career. Instead, the vice president was mostly vice presidential. Smiling often and clearly at ease, Biden, led by Stewart's questions, focused on defending the Obama administration's ambitious policies from resuscitating the economy to health care reform. But Biden, the first sitting vice president to appear on the show, did manage to set Stewart up for a...

Sometimes you make exceptions at a members-only golf club. Especially if someone from the office of Vice President Joe Biden is on the telephone, calling back a second time with a more pointed request. It happened Sunday morning at The Golf Club at South Shore, at Lake Las Vegas. When the first call came in at 7 a.m., asking whether Biden could play the course, the PGA professional running the pro shop declined, citing the club's members-only policy. A few minutes later, another call: a Biden staffer telling the club pro "you know the vice president would really like to...

Vice President Joe Biden was in midtown today for a taping of the John Stewart show, and his security detail hit a bit of a snag while paving his way to the show. Three advance vehicles belonging to the NYPD were moving down 49th Street near 10th Avenue when they slammed into the back of a livery cab, officials said. The cars apparently had lights and sirens on at the time, officials said. Four people -- two NYPD officers and two civilians -- were injured, NYPD spokeswoman Barbara Chen said. Mr. Biden wasn't in the trail of cars at the...

You know the old saying "while the cat's away, the mice will play." With Obama safely bowing his way through Asia, Sheriff Joe Biden sneaks into the Oval Office and plans to fix all Barack's problems. I saw this Saturday Night Live opener last night and thought there were parts that were very funny. The end tends to fall a bit flat but the Biden commentary on the "stimulus is working," and "we're going to cave like crazy on health care," make this clip worth a watch.

Saturday Night Live took a break from bashing FOX News and doing half-assed Obama impressions. While the voice and face are not perfect the actor does capture a bit of Biden's gaffe-prone personality and let's say slower than average mental skills. The premise is Obama is overseas so Joe Biden breaks into the Oval Office to take care of at least one issue before Obama gets back. The building at 650 Fifth Avenue was built in the 1970s by the Shah of Iran, who was overthrown in 1979. The US Attorney's office in Manhattan said yesterday that it is seeking control of a 60-percent stake in in the building, now held by the Alavi Foundation, a New York-based charitable group. "The Alavi Foundation has effectively been a front for the government of Iran," said Preet Bharara, the US Attorney in Manhattan. "For two decades, the Alavi Foundation's affairs have been directed by various Iranian officials, including Iranian ambassadors to the United Nations, in violation of a series...

Vice President Biden made a surprise visit to a homeless shelter in Washington DC on Friday to help serve lunch to dozens of homeless men. Biden dropped by the Father McKenna Center, a homeless shelter a few blocks away from the U.S. Capitol building that serves around 100 men during the day. It also offers counseling for substance abuse and an HIV/AIDS initiative. Dressed casually in a black baseball cap, sweater and khakis, Biden put on rubber gloves and an apron to help distribute fish sticks. Biden said he was there because “you've got to remind yourself that but for...

MARLOW HEIGHTS, Md. - U.S. Park Police say a man was fatally struck by two U.S. Secret Service vehicles at a Suitland Parkway intersection. Secret Service spokesman Malcolm Wiley says the two armored vehicles were traveling from Andrews Air Force Base to a Washington garage when the pedestrian was hit around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Suitland Parkway and Naylor Road in Temple Hills. Wiley says the vehicles were returning from a vice presidential trip to Fort Lewis in Washington state. He says the Secret Service employees driving the vehicles immediately stopped to help the man.

If this is true then just about all the worst fears we had about Obama as Commander in Chief are coming true. "WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama does not plan to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government, a senior administration official said Wednesday." He has already had the advice of his entire military chain of command with a near unanimous call for for reinforcements to move to the strategy that won in Iraq. We...

IBD has a very important article on the fool Biden and how Governor Palin could not be more correct on US energy needs and reserves. This is the most significant security issue facing America and demonstrates why the left is so dangerous and anti-American. Leadership: As Palin jousts with Biden on energy independence, the government reports that we lead the world in energy reserves. From oil to gas to coal, we are sitting on prosperity. So why are we importing anything? One of the interesting sidelights of the NY-23 race was an exchange on energy independence between Vice President Joe Biden and the former governor of energy-rich Alaska, Sarah Palin. Biden, who came in to campaign for Democrat Bill Owens, was reminded of the issue of energy. "The fact of the matter is that Sarah Palin thinks the answer to energy was 'Drill, baby,...
