An experiment designed to reveal gender bias by reenacting the presidential debates with the candidates’ genders reversed found that Hillary Clinton would have been even less likeable as a man. Maria Guadalupe and Joe Salvatore, two professors at New York University, planned to demonstrate the alleged gender bias Clinton faced in the 2016 election by acting out the presidential debates with Trump as a woman and Hillary as a man, reports NYU News. The goal of the “Her Opponent” project was to prove that people would not have accepted Trump’s aggressive behavior had it come from a woman, and...

President Donald Trump on Saturday accused former President Barack Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower in the latter stages of last year’s presidential campaign. A spokesman for Obama was quick to deny the accusations, while congressmen and women have vowed to get to the bottom of the accusations. Either way, it’s hard for anyone at this point to make a determination either way whether or not Trump’s accusations against Obama are true or full of hot air. However, that didn’t stop CNN on Saturday from fully declaring Obama’s innocence. Running a story about Trump’s claims Saturday, CNN declared: “Trump falsely accuses...

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Sunday raised questions about President Trump's claims that former President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower before the election. In an interview on NBC's "Meet The Press," Schumer said Obama has "flatly denied that he has done this." "And either way, Chuck, the president's in trouble. If he falsely spread this kind of misinformation, that is so wrong," Schumer said. "It's beneath the dignity of the presidency. It is something that really hurts people's view of government." Schumer said if this is the case, it shows the president doesn't know how to "conduct himself."...

A pair of NBC News videos featuring kids expressing fears about Donald Trump’s presidency is coming under fire by conservatives who call it “propaganda.” The videos show kids saying things such as “Most of my family is black. I’m afraid that you’re gonna hurt some of us blacks,” “You are here, attempting to white-wash America,” “You’re going to separate me away from the rest of my family, and I really don’t want [that] because I love them too much.” The videos begin with one youth offering faint praise, then continue with a barrage of children expressing despair and fear over...

Does the shift toward more data and algorithmic direction for our business decisions assure us that organizations and businesses are operating to everyone's advantage? There are a number of issues involved that some people feel need to be addressed going forward. Numbers don't lie, or do they? Perhaps the fact that they are perceived to be absolutely objective is what makes us accept the determinations of algorithms without questioning what factors could have shaped the outcome. That's the argument Cathy O'Neil makes in Weapons of Math Destruction: How Big Data Increases Inequality and Threatens Democracy. While we tend to think...

There was a great commotion in central London last night. A police helicopter hovered over The Spectator‘s office making a din, police sirens sounded and thudding music rattled the windows. I found out why when I left the office and walked via Parliament Square to Whitehall. There was an anti-Trump protest outside Parliament – #stoptrump was the theme – coinciding with the (non-binding and pointless) debate inside Westminster Hall, about President Trump’s state visit to the UK later this year. The protest was a very slick affair. There was a massive TV screen broadcasting anti-Trump videos, and speeches blared out over a speaker...

For free entertainment in the Trump era, the meltdowns and hissy-fits of the MainStream Media are hard to beat. In such a discussion, perhaps it’s important to define our terms, so here goes: The MainStream Media, or MSM, consists of the major TV networks with news divisions – NBC, ABC, and CBS… the major east coast newspapers – primarily the New York Times, the Washington Post, maybe the Chicago Tribune and USA Today… the straight news syndication agencies – primarily AP and Reuters… and cable news – primarily CNN and MSNBC. These newsrooms, which have acted largely as a block...

Watch the short clip from election night. Tapper actually caught saying "we need" these states and quickly changing it to "Hillary needs." Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather slammed the Trump administration on Tuesday evening for its association with former national security adviser Mike Flynn, claiming "this Russia scandal" might end up being as "big as Watergate." As Rather wrote in a Facebook post ... Watergate is the biggest political scandal of my lifetime, until maybe now. It was the closest we came to a debilitating Constitutional crisis, until maybe now. On a 10 scale of armageddon for our form of government, I would put Watergate at a 9. This Russia scandal is currently somewhere around a 5 or 6, in my...
